What could the dealer have done??? BAD MPG

So I think I jinxed myself on another topic when I commented that my '12 DJR/T gets "great gas mileage".

I just had the Journey into the dealer on Friday for its first oil change as well as to figure out why the tow package wiring didn't work.

Long story short, they said it had something to do with my computer not recognizing that it has the tow package so they had to "fudge" the VIN# and tada! they work!!

HOWEVER ...

Since Friday my fuel mileage has been horrible! Typically I average 11.9 or so on the screen (hwy to and from work with some city) - I cannot get the truck any lower than 14.9 now!

I just had to fill the truck up again tonight on the way into work - checked my trip odo and I only managed 410kms to that tank ..... I always get between 540 - 580 easily.

What could the dealership have done???

Your EVIC averages could have been altered by the amount

of idle time while at the dealer-who knows how long it sat

running while in their possesion.

I guess if you really want to be picky you could note the

total engine hours run on the evic when you bring it in

and when you pick it up.

Okay ... I think the computer just had to have some time to sort things out again. Since filling up the last time Im now back to normal, if not BETTER than normal fuel mileage. I nearly had a stroke the other day when I looked down on the hwy and noticed I was averaging 7.5 !!!! - 90km/h with the cruise on.

Since than with my commute of mostly highway with some city (St.Thomas to London everynight) Im back to my usual 11.5 or so.

All major refiners alter formulation (have for yrs) to promote

easier starting/less water retention in their fuels.

This is also a matter of climate/degree days so some

areas i.e. Florida don't necessarily fall under the scheme.

The additives used have the sideeffects of reduced mpg

but easier starting in cold climates.
