Victorious
Has anybody done up a high end stereo system including subs an amps? Is there anyway to get rid of the uconnect deck and replace it with a better aftermarket one? HELP!
bramfrank
It's been discussed and it isn't likely possible - the radio is just too integrated into the vehicle's systems.
19InBlkJrny
I think you're gonna have to wait a few years for the aftermarket to catch up. Having the HVAC integrated into the HU makes things very tricky. UNLESS you wanna go the old school route I took in my 96 caddy. I kept the stock radio, for door chimes & to keep the security system in check, and added an aftermarket HU, amps, speakers and subs. In that case YOU WILL be rewiring the entire car and not to mention having to hide another HU. Sorry Omar
Victorious
That's not fun at all! But yeah that is a possibility. I'd almost consider buying the 8.4? Uconnect just to have the better one, but I am sure the dealer will charge alot for the unit, trim and wireing.
ChrisPollard
I'd be surprised if you could find a dealer who would actually do a 4.3 to 8.4 swap at all. That's a huge undertaking, not just from an aesthetics standpoint, but the entire operation of the vehicle. It's the downside to massive integration and electronics gone wild. But it's awesome when it all works right.
Victorious
I can't see it being that hard. Even if I was to do it. I dunno the ins and outs of the whole ordeal. I have always had a banging system in every vehicle I have owned and it sucks that I can't swap out the factory unit for a aftermarket one. Time will tell. clos316
ANy one know how to at least remove the 4.3. Im trying to run some cables for my cell phone to come out from the little compartment under the display
Lebowski
No need to remove anything: just open the glove box, pull the tabs on the sides so that you can open it some more, remove the mat of the compartment under the display, push the cables in one of the holes (preferably the rightmost one) and pull them from the side (from the opening of the glove box you can almost reach the hole).
