Playlists on 8.4 Touchscreen

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how to create or add a playlist on the 8.4 touchscreen? I see Playlists along the left with the Artist/Albums menus. Does anyone know if you are supposed to create the playlist from already loaded songs or someohow add playlists onto your thumbdrive? What kind of format should the playlist be in, if you are supposed to actually add them onto your thumbdrive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

I do know that you cannot create playlists on the unit itself. It is strictly for accessing playlists on whichever device is attached (SD Card, USB stick, iPod/iPhone,etc.)

Unfortunately, I don't know how to create playlists on the device that the Uconnect Touch system can read.

I copy my playlists to my usb drive with windows media player. The format of the .wpl file has a few lines of meta data within the <head></head> lines which are not necessary but what is needed to play your songs is in the lines after:

<?wpl version="1.0"?>

<smil>

<head>

<meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Windows Media Player -- 12.0.7601.17514"/>

<meta name="ItemCount" content="3"/>

<meta name="IsFavorite"/>

<meta name="ContentPartnerListID"/>

<meta name="ContentPartnerNameType"/>

<meta name="ContentPartnerName"/>

<meta name="Subtitle"/>

<title>My Favorites</title>

</head>

<seq>

<media src="..\30 Seconds to Mars\This Is War\Closer To The Edge.mp3"/>

<media src="..\Adele\21\Rolling In The Deep (Album Version).mp3"/>

<media src="..\Adele\21\Turning Tables.mp3"/>

</seq>

</body>

</smil>
