J scan

Your the guy that figured out the awd rear diff vent plugging  problem. Welcome back. I recently got a cheap xtool bi directional scanner, good for diagnosing, can program cps, abs, throttle assembly, few other things.

Alpha obd I think is what people have used to turn on extra features like led fogs, bcm, ecm changes. Guys on Ram forum use it a lot.  My xtool can get around Fca autoauth without issues, but it's entry level $180 ish. Links to app on a phone or tablet. Only had it a week, did seem to fix angle sensor calibration issue that was turning on traction control light. I still think it's abs wheel sensor related. But no direct code shows up for that. Only one orig wheel bearing still on  vehicle.

As member john/horace replied, your previous posting of rear vent/viscous coupler situation has been a BIG help here. There are so many scanners on the market and programs for your posted request, that I have not heard of "J SCAN". I do have alpha OBD program like john/horace posted, but have used it only for fob programming so far. My preference is to just keep things working and not much for upgrading or add ons, as running wiring for such is not my favorite task to do.

I was just curious because I used it on my 2019 ram 3500 to change light settings for my led lights. Don't want to get another subscription if it doesn't work on the journey

From being on the truck forums alpha can do a lot more but you can also screw up a lot more if you don't pay attention. That's why I went with jscan. Supposedly more user friendly. That's why I am asking

I DO understand your feeling about alpha obd program, I also find it to be not the most "user friendly". But it has a LOT of capability should one be brave(or smart enough) to use it.

IF you already have the J SCAN program, have you tried hooking it up to your '10 journey and it did not do what you wanted?

I only bought the one subscription for my truck. Don't want to pay the $35 if it don't work on the journey

For that amount of money, Alphaobd is only a few $$ more than the price for 2 vehicles(your truck & your DJ) and it will do both your truck and the DJ and a lot of other vehicles. and it's a one time purchase and you've got it for life.

Well, jscan worked for my 2010 dodge journey. Figured I'd let you know

Glad to hear! So just what were you doing with your Journey to use J Scan?

I've been using my alfaobd a lot lately to do fobs on a vast number of FCA cars and also for testing various systems, like rad. fans and such, I'm not into "mod." changes yet. BUT with the '17 I just got, the wife wants heated front seats and wheel added before WINTER comes again. alfaobd can set the BCM once I get the parts and wiring installed.........
