nebular
Edit: I posted this in the wrong area, can it be moved to Electrical, Battery & Charging? I bought a 2018 Journey with the 4.3" screen that already had the Metra conversion done for a DDIN unit. It also has the built in inverter in the centre console, however it is currently turned off. The manual says that the only way to turn the inverter on is through the options on the touchscreen. The Axxess interface of the Metra kit doesn't have an option to turn the inverter on (it has the latest firmware) and I don't have an original radio unit to install temporarily to do it. Does anyone know of a way to turn the inverter on without using the touchscreen interface? It would be nice to be able to use the power outlet since it's there. Dean H
According to the 16 DJ owners manual. No, The touch screen is the only way to turn it on. Edited October 10 by Dean H
John/Horace
Could add a separate manual on/off switch in the side of the plastic console. There is probably already key switched power there beside the inverter. Radio Display using can bus energizes a relay in the main fuse panel. Wiring diagram would show where relay is located. Best way would be to manually switch the existing relay; so it takes the surge. And if manual switch is left on, turning off car drops power.
