I want to love my Journey, but it's complicated

I purchased a 2009 Journey R/T used with 6500 miles on it. I really really want to love this car because I have purchased it and am pretty much stuck with it. I love how it drives, I love the features it has, I love the family friendly options, I love look and feel of it, I love the hi-tech entertainment system, etc.

However, it has fallen victim to man of the things I have read about on line and it's bumming me out.

new pads and rotors at 9900 miles

rocker assemblies worn and replaced at 9900 miles

power window stopped function correctly

weird electrical problems with dash lights turning off when wipers are turned off

I too hear the grinding/whining sound when turning left - not sure what it is, but, it doesn't bother me that much assuming it isn't some major problem.

I am a little freaked out at the thought of having ongoing brake issues and engine issues this early in the game.

I hope hope hope I don't have further issues,or if I do, I hope it is within my warranty period.

Sad, because, I really do love the car.

Yes you are having alot of the common problems. As far the the brakes go, I changed my front pads at 13,000 put on ceramic and haven't had a problem since. Used the factory rotors and haven't touched the rears. Next brake job don't go to the dealer, go after-market & you'll have better luck.

I have been very lucky with my 09 R/T Only things I've done are routine maintenance and the front pads. The dealer did change the power-steering pump under a recall but no problems. Check that the recall was done to yours. Good luck with it!

If you have already paid to have the front brakes serviced, contact Chrysler Customer Service and open a case number. Then submit (fax) a copy of your service repair order and the manner in which you paid (credit card receipt/check/cash receipt) and they will reimburse you.

I had our "old" '09 front pads replaced in July of 2009 (we bought in March 2008) at 22K miles. I recently learned Chrysler would reimburse you if the repairs had to be done under 36K miles. I submitted my claim in January 2011 and within a week received a check for the full amount of the repair.
