  1. Sorry for the inconvenience. It’s my Samsung phone’s fault. Problem solved.
  2. My uconnect is automatically answering my cell calls. Anyway of stopping this. It never did this before.
  3. Looked like an untrained person used a screw driver to pry off the trim. I'm sure I could have done better myself.
  4. Finally had the radio unit replaced last week and working well. Unfortunately the installer damaged the trim which they have agreed to replace. It means another visit.
  5. My replacement unit is on order but still no news of its arrival as yet and it's been 3 weeks today.
  6. My bad. I was in a 2015 Jeep GC this morning and the unit is different.
  7. Well, I took the Journey in yesterday and it needs a new Nav unit. Should take about two weeks to arrive. The service advisor told me he had another vehicle in with the same problem.
  8. I'm also on the Jeep WK2 forum and did not find any threads on this. The Grand Cherokee has the same unit.
  9. Mine just failed yesterday. I guess I'm off to the dealer.
  10. I can't confirm that but then why would Curt have two wiring harnesses, one specific for LED cars.
  11. Because LED equipped vehicles don't have enough power going though the wires to the back lights (LED). Curt has two wiring harness, one for and without LED tail lights.
  12. I had mine activated for free because I told them I've been trying since delivery. I also went through the dealer's GM. Thanks again to Journeyman 425.
  13. I see that my car has the connector by the spare tire. I also know it has the oil cooler because it's standard with the 3.6 L. So I guess I would need to buy the OEM connector and have the car flashed. Any idea what that would cost? Alternatively, the Curt harness is cheap and I read on another thread that the power wire could be spliced onto the red wire of the connector near the spare tire instead of running it to the engine bay. But is that connector "hot" without being flashed?
  14. Thanks for the advice. I will look and see if that connector is present. I would prefer to go the OEM route unless it's too costly. As for aftermarket installation of the hitch, I couldn't be more pleased on how mine went. I had a Curt Hitch installed at Perine Hitch in south Miami which is a small shop run by the owner. He did the installation himself, gave me a chair to sit and watch him use a custom rig to support and lift the hitch in place. He was done in 25 minutes and then invited me to come up close to inspect the job done. I was very impressed.
  15. So a question. Can the dealer add a tow prep package since my V6 already has an oil cooler? Or is it cheaper/easier to add an aftermarket wire harness? I had a Curt hitch installed (without wiring) already for a bike carrier.
  16. Hi Journeyman425, Could you please add the code for my 2014 Journey VIN ET246572. Thanks so much. Peter
  17. Luckily I returned my aftermarket Phillips LED DRL. I've been monitoring this thread/forum for some time and I can't wait to contact my dealer to have them activate my DRL. My alternate plan was to cover the auto headlights sensor on the dash which then keeps the full lighting system on all the time.
  18. This has happened to me twice, first in my 2014 Journey and then my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The fix: rock the steering wheel then push the start again. After the first incident with the Journey and three hours later a tow to the dealer, nothing wrong was found. In fact, with the hook up to the tow truck, it was able to start. I then read on the Jeep forum of a similar problem with a Dodge Ram. He suggested the link between the starter and the steering wheel lock. A few months later it happened to me in my Jeep and I remembered the suggestion of rocking the steering wheel and low and behold it worked. What convinced me it is linked with the steering lock was a third start button fail in my 2008 Audi A4. This time after pushing the button and failing to start, I pushed again and the steering wheel "jumped" (I guess the lock was released) it then started. Something worth trying if it happens to you again.
  19. The Phillips 4 LED DRL kit arrived yesterday. Lets hope the installation goes as smooth as seen on YouTube.
  20. The dealer found no problem with my Journey either. The idea that the steering wheel lock affecting the start process isn't unknown. Have you ever experienced starting a keyed car and the key would not turn if the steering wheel was not in the right locked position? Then by slightly rotating the steering wheel it allows the key to turn and start the engine.
  21. This happened to me with my 2014 Journey but it corrected itself once it was hooked up to a tow truck (3 hrs later). The car suddenly recognized the key when the steering wheel was locked for towing. I then read another thread that a Durango owner felt it was also related to an unlocked steering wheel when the car is parked and off. Then a few weeks ago it happened to my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's 4 years old and I never experienced this with the Jeep. Again, I had just parked, turned off the car, got out, but the door lock would not work. Going back into the car I saw the "key fob not detected". Learning from my Journey experience, I rocked the steering wheel and immediately the key was recognized. Hope this helps.
  22. Try U-Haul. They should be cheaper. I got a quote of $201 + tax for Curt hitch with install (wiring separate) from Perrine Trailer Hitches in south Miami, Fl. A quote from U-Haul was similar.
  23. I'm not annoyed by it. I just thought it would have been a simple software flash. That said, I am Canadian and this car might be coming up to Canada in the future so that's why I inquired about the DRL activation.
