  1. The phone is Pixel 6. I think it started last year before I put it away for the winter. I didn't realize that system was modular, but I use Uconnect as an all emcompassing term for the infotainment system. I'll search some more. I'd appreciate in any links may have or even a successful search phrase. Where is that module located? Maybe the fuse pull isn't such a bad idea afterall.
  2. I did a modest search and did not find anything that seemed match up with my issue. My phone is connected to Uconnect, but when I take a phone call, it seems to randomly loose part of the connection without dropping the call. Sometimes it comes back and sometimes if I end the call on the phone it holds on to the phone connection like it thinks it has a call and doesn't go back to radio until whatever times out the earlier issue happens again and then it goes back to my previously schedule program. This phone works fine in my other vehicles, so I don't think the trouble is there. My brain says update firmware, but I don't even know if that's thing with this system. I may try the pinned suggestion about pulling a fuse at the top of this forum. Where should I be looking? TIA! Here are the particulars: 2009 Dodge Journey Sofware Application 9.112 Gracenotes 534 Hardware Serial number T00BE021851504 System 6826 006 3.3
  3. I have a 2009 Jourtney R/T. When I lock it with the remote the actuator clunks, the button goes down, but the door does not actually lock. Although it appears to be locked, you can lift the drivers door handle and it will open and set off the alarm. I haven't been into this door yet. But I'm not exactly sure what I would be looking for. I'm hoping somebody else has run into this issue or maybe already know how all of it is linked together in the door and might give me some place to start looking and possible how to fix it. I would think that if the button goes down that it would be all part of the locking action, but apparently there are two separate actions at work here. Thanks in advance for any help in the right direction.
  4. Nothing tragically wrong, but sometimes when I disarm my DJ, the windshield wipers jump up a little. Over the course of a day of numerous arm/disarm cycles, the wipers can be significantly up the windshield. A quick cycle will bring them back to their resting position. But why do they jump like that?
  5. I feel like I'm being a whiner after looking at several pages of back up camera threads. I have a 2009 DJ and it has all the stock equipment (no nav) including the back up camera, which works. All of the time. My only issue with it, aside from the terrible radio screen placement for viewing it, is that after eleven years of UV torture, it doesn't look as crisp and clear as it once did. My questions; has anybody located a video on replacing it? Can I use an aftermarket camera for this? Where are the connection points for this camera? Any links would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Thanks! It didn't even occur to me to look for them elsewhere.
  7. And a follow up: It finally happened last week! I got the recall service done with a new key receiver (or whatever it's called) and two new fobiks. FYI, they reuse the actual key from the old fobiks. In my case I only had one, so while I now have two fobiks, I only have one key. It did take two+ hours to do a job estimated to take one hour. The end result was a much stiffer ignition switch, as expected. Like someone said above, it doesn't necessarily "fix" the issue, it just sets the goal post further away. I'll keep the excess weight off of the key chain. Oh and I did have them check on software options for turning on the DRLs, but apparently it's not even an option for my model and/or year.
  8. First off, that last line was intended with tongue firmly planted in cheek. This being the internet and you not knowing me from Adam, I guess I couldn't expect you to know that. I should have put a smiley in there for you. Sorry. Secondly, I have been inconvenienced. Having stopped by several times and made more phone calls than I should have had to make to take care of a problem that is not of my making and has cost me my time, which is valuable anytime it's used, more so when I have to call during regular business hours. Thirdly, yes I have had the reason for the recall actually occur about four months before the recall, after which I removed all but two keys from that ring, like any reasonably intelligent person would have, and have not experienced the issue since. But since they're not calling it a "minor inconvenience recall", but rather a "safety recall", I don't find it at all unreasonable to expect it to be done in a timely manner.
  9. I'm looking into a different dealer, but I thought I'd follow through with this dealer and gave them a call. After being put on hold more than a few times, I was finally told that I am "now number 8, no, wait... number 7" on the list to have this work done. Odd. I was something like number 4 back on June 8 when I put the request in! Maybe I can get them to activate the DRL for the inconvenience. (Edit- Emoticon added for clarity)
  10. Thanks, I do feel better! Removing extra keys was the first thing I did. I just get really, really irratated with poor customer service. The whole "we've got your money, go pound sand" attitude rubs me the wrong way. i didn't think of trying a different dealer. I like to think that MY dealer would be there for me, hoping that when I go to get a new car in a couple of years, that they would be looking for my return business. I guess if they're good with one and done, then so be it. Thanks for the space to vent!
  11. I presume that if it's important enough for you to send out recall notices, then it should be taken serious. So why the hell does Dodge make me constantly beg for them to actually perform the work? I called the day I got the notice in the mail. No parts? Put me on the list. It should be a couple of weeks? Please call me in couple of weeks and let me know when I can schedule an appointment. Still no parts? Just frigging call me and tell me something!!! This months and months of no parts and no calls is really pissing me off. It's a frigging safety recall. Are you hoping that the key will shut off again and I get killed in an accident so you won't have do anything about it? Ugghh!
  12. I travel a lot and sometimes in areas without terrestrial or phone service. I have a lifetime subscription on an aftermarket stereo in an older vehicle, It's getting harder to find older head units that will use the satellite box. I usually let the service expire in the Journey over the winter if I'm not going to be driving it and then take advantage of the six months for $20 offer they bombard you with in the spring.
  13. Did it once today. Immeadiately moved the shifter and it started right up. I'm still not calling it solved though. When it's not in park or neutral I shouldn't hear a starter like click at all, should I?
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. No corrosion around the battery, jump start or distribution box. Haven't check other points like starter or straps, if there are any. Haven't tried anything to do with the transmission, but will check next time it happens.
  15. My DJ has 111,000 miles on it. Recently had the original battery go belly up. That's fun to change! Anyway it would occasionally not start and shortly after that it became a little more frequent. The electronics all fire up and if I had to describe it, I would say that it sounds like the starter throws out but does not turn. Electronics, click, nothing, electronics. What is the expected life span of the started on that engine? R/T FWD.
  16. Thought I'd follow this up. For some reason it's back. I can say the name of the channel and it listens for a little while longer and jumps to the requested station like it used to. Two possible things that changed that may have had something to do with it. Other than the VR name issue (still recognized numbers) Sirius worked fine. One day, not too long ago, it locked up and wasn't producing audio although it would manually change to various stations. Turned off the car for several minutes and got Sirius reception back, although I didn't think to try the VR. Today, it is having trouble starting from what appears to be a failing battery. Bad battery, 100+ heat, air conditioning on high constantly, etc I'm sure is resulting in some low voltage conditions until it starts. I'll replace the battery on Friday after I put the tester on OBS link. But as far as the situation with the VR goes, does that ring any bells with anybody? Did I accidentally reset something? Should I install a battery interupt switch in the engine bay so I can reset as needed? Mostly kidding about that last part. Just wanted to see if this info helped anybody else.
  17. Took it to the dealer today. They ran the VIN and couldn't find anything. Big waste of an hour. They suggested I bring it back and leave it with them. Could you post that TSB for me? Maybe if I have it in hand, they'll "find" it magically.
  18. I always though it was an IR reciever for the rear entertainment systems remote control.
  19. But it was working just perfectly! What changed? What's different?
  20. So everything was working just fine with my Infotainment system. I left it in the garage for several weeks and drove another car during the heavier snows. I took it out for a short trip out of town and found that I'm having a problem with the VR. It's working it will recognize some things. But when I'm listening to Sirius it only recognizes number and not the station names as it did before. For instance if I request "80's on 8" it will go to channel 88. If I request "Watercolors" it will respond with "unrecognized command. "Channel 64" will get me channel 64. I'm sure this must have been covered before, but I couldn't find it in a search. Any ideas or fixes? Thanks!
  21. I just ran across this problem. I didn't know it could be unlearned either! Thanks for the info. I love this forum! Added: Worked like a charm!
  22. Mine is a full on "klunk" sound and feel in varying degrees.
  23. I ge this as well, although not consistently. I thought a brief pause in neutral was stopping the problem, but it still does it sometimes, but not everytime. Curious to know what it is as well and if I should be concerned.
  24. I've got a 2010 R/T. I was wondering what was behind the panel where the rear AC controls would go if I had rear air. Is there sufficient depth to mount some indication LEDs? Is that panel easily replaceable to go back to stock when needed? I'm also curious about the bank of switches above it that control heated seats, emergency flashers, AC and traction control. There are two blank spots where switches could be added. What options were designed to occupy those spots? Can I get these switches for adding my own accessories? Does anyone have the part name and number for the panel/hood for the navigation radio at the top of the mid stack? I'm thinking of two things here. I'd like to install an aftermarket GPS in this location in a semi-permanent way so that it's hard wired, but would like to use the factory enclosure. The other thought would be to install factory GPS in that location while mainting the original REN radio below. Any thoughts on either scenario? Had the damn thing less than two months and I'm already trying to do stuff to it!
  25. I believe this is the glass cleaner being referred to: http://www.spraywayinc.com/content/glass-cleaner And she's right, it is an amazing cleaner that I've used on glass and stainless. I've also used it occasionally on plastics and upholstry when I really need to clean stubborn dirt. But onecrazy is also correct in that it does contain alcohol. And even "perfume grade alcohol", whatever that is, will probably not be good over the long term. The same company also makes a product made for the purpose that would be a better bet: http://www.spraywayinc.com/content/vinyl-leather-cleaner
