  1. Clear bra eh? Got any pictures of that?
  2. We have an Inferno Red SXT with the 19's as well. I live in Ottawa, ON Canada. We get enough snow here. This vehicle drives so well in the snow! We were tempted to purchase snow tires this past winter. Once we drove in the first heavy snowfall though, we knew it wasn't necessary. Our tires were still very new, we only picked it up in September. The clearance is helpful too. I remember one night, during a city wide public transportation stike, one of the lanes on my route home was covered in about six inches of slushy, wet snow. I didn't want to drive in it because our last vehicle would have gotten stuck in a heartbeat. My husband gave me some words of encouragment and I pulled into the lane. It was like there wasn't even any snow! In some respects, I had better traction than on the icy pavement. Of course, I still kept it under the speed limit, but very few other drivers were able to follow me.
  3. I wouldn't dare take my Journey through a car wash that has brushes! I live in Canada, and we get pretty heavy sand and salt here. We just wait for a warmish day and take her on through the touchless. The only way I would allow a brush to clean my vehicle is if it's one that I've purchased and I know where it's been, and it's either myself or someone who knows not to leave it laying in dirt using it. Thank God for touchless car washes!
  4. Our Inferno Red has slightly darker bumpers. This is really only noticable on the suniest of days and you really have to be looking for it. BAC is right though, plastic vs. metal, the paint is going to look slightly different with most colours.
  5. It's not the distance you are from your vehicle when your transmitter emits its signal. It's how far the criminal is from your transmitter. You don't have to point your fob directly at the vehicle to have it work. Yes, you are right, if you use the power locks, your alarm will be armed. However, if you manually lock the doors, but pushing the plungers down, it will not.
  6. HAHAHAHA fix it BEFORE I report it!??? Oh that's funny! They don't always fix it when I DO report it! Seriously, I had it in the shop for a week. The problem with my brakes still persists (though they say they test drove it, where? around their lot?), and they told me the noise in my steering is "normal". Yeah, sure it's normal, it's a normal DEFECT! I do love my Journey and I can say that with confidence because I've driven more than a half dozen rental vehicles in the same/comparable class since I purchased it. I'm just so annoyed with the little problems and the way the dealership treats me. I'm a woman though, I shouldn't expect to be treated like an equal. But that's ok, because when they talk to me like I don't know anything, I just sick my husband on them! Then they get their act together! hehe
  7. I have had the same noise on left turns since Day No.1 They told us it was normal but if it persisted to bring it in and have it looked at. Now that I see there is a TSB for it, I am sure my dealer will be more than happy to fix it for me (Yes, that's sarcasm). It's going in on Friday so we will see.
  8. Am I right in assuming the groaning noise when we turn left is NOT supposed to happen? I've read that people have had their reservoirs replaced on the power steering pump, does this fix it? I have to take my Journey in on Friday for brake maintenance (they squeal and won't stop, gets worse while driving, not the pads, they said they're fine). I'd like to notify them of the problem with the steering when I take it in for the brakes so they can fix it too. I just have to add one thing. They told us they're giving us a rental for the time it's in the shop, which is great, we have to pick it up around noon because the rental place won't have any vehicles to our liking until that time, so when we told the dealership this, they asked, "So when will you be returning the rental?" Duh...when you fix my Journey!! You tell me when I'll be returning it!
  9. Our FWD SXT V-6 gets an average 14L/100kms city driving and 9L/100 highway (sometimes lower). We've had it as low at 8.3 on the highway and 10.6 in the city. We've got almost 15,000kms on it. The first 5,000kms we got crap fuel economy. Winter driving in rush hour sucks too, 23L/100kms is the worst we've had it, that was a really snowy, miserable day.
  10. The only time I've noticed it, is when I use my power windows.
  11. I have only had one engine problem with a Journey. I had my personal Journey in the shop for repair and ended up with a Journey from Discount Car and Truck Rentals. I drove it to work, which was maybe 20 kms. The engine made this awfuly terrible grumbling noise the whole time, and it was reving while I was breaking. Fearing that the car might die on me at any time, I had the rental company bring me a new vehicle. This Journey was the same trim as mine, FWD SXT V-6, so I knew what the engine should sound like, and it had far less kms on it than mine. I figured someone drove the crap out of it and busted the transmission, but now I'm thinking that maybe it was a defective engine. I know that my story doesn't really give you advice on how to fix the issue. But maybe knowing that yours is not the only vehicle with an engine problem may give you some solice.
  12. We got the truck back, breaks still squealing. The service man told me they were still squealing because it sat overnight and some rust buildup is to be expected. I explained to him that the problem gets worse with using the breaks, not better. This means it's not a problem with them being dirty. He suggested it could be the calipers and recommended bringing it back in. Why couldn't they have checked all aspects of the breaks when it was there for six days!!??? It's going back in on Friday....so annoying!!!
  13. So we got the truck back on Saturday. They said the problem with the alarm was due to loose connections at the module. They tightened them and told us the problem should be gone. I haven't had it happen since, however, it was an intermittent problem to begin with so only time will tell.
  14. I had a knocking in the front passenger side door. We had to have a repair done to the power window motor and they didn't put the door back together properly and it came apart inside. Probably not the same problem, but if you've had any work done on your doors, maybe they missed a screw...
  15. Definately not the first to have an accident. I had a jerk in a pick-up cut me off and take the front bumper almost clean off, it was only attached by one rivet on the driver's side. All the attachments for the fog lights were ripped out, passenger side quarter panel mangled. Thank God he just missed the tire because I would have hated to ruin my 19" chrome wheels and mess up my alignment. The damage was all superficial, but I was in shock when I saw the bumper fly up over the hood of the truck and then when I saw what it looked like when I got out. I thought he totalled the front end since the way the bumper is attached it hooks up under the grill, it was a mess!!! The good thing about this accident: I didn't feel the impact, and he hit me hard! I was in a similar sort of accident in my old car, an '04 Dodge SX 2.0 (Neon) when a drunk driver sideswiped the driver's side and took off the mirror. He was also driving a pick-up and I swear he lifted me two feet off the ground, I thought the car was going to flip over! So I am very relieved to know that I can rest assured that my Journey will keep my family safe and sound.
  16. We had our SXT in the shop for a week (seat stiching repair, alarm repair, brakes were cleaned) They said that there was rust on the breaks and that was the causing for the insanly annoying and embarrassing squealing (@ 14,700kms). Now I'm pretty sure that driving and using the breaks, in effect, does the same thing as cleaning them if rust is the cause. However, when we start a drive, no squeal, it's only as we drive more and use the breaks more that they squeal more. So it's going back in on Friday. Very annoyed with this, while the vehicle itself shouldn't have a problem, if they dealership thought there was even a possibility that it could be something else (like the calipers they are now suggesting) that could be causing the problem, they should have checked it out when they had it for six days!!! I'll post an update next week when I get the report back.
  17. You can do a few things to get this information: 1-Check with your dealer 2-Check Mopar 3-Check WeatherTech - Not sure if they have roof racks but they have tonnes of other cool stuff!
  18. I have a FWD SXT w/ 19" wheels. I have a groaning noise only when I turn left. Now my dealership told us this is normal...but apparently so are computer glitches so.... I think read something as well about replacing the tank for one bigger and it should fix the problem.
  19. This is good to know. However, if you lock your vehicle manually from the inside, it will not activate the alarm. So that means if a low-tech criminal tries to break in, the alarm won't sound. And if I use my fob and a high-tech crimical breaks in, the alarm won't sound. Hmmm....talk about a rock and a hard place.
  20. We love our Journey. FWD SXT V6 Performance steering and suspension, sunroof, rear dvd system If you've got boys to tote along, this vehicle will definatley have more room than the caliber. I recommend not opting for the third row, you lose so much space in the back for luggage and what not. I also recommend the V6 engine. Fuel economy is of course not as good as the 4-cylinder, however, it's really not that bad. 14 L/100kms in the city, 9 L/100kms on the highway. The 4 just didn't have any get up and go. If you do decide to purchase the Journey, I wish you luck. It seems as though computer glitches are common, those that have problems, have many little ones and those that don't have any, are able to enjoy this vehicle because it really does have so much to offer.
  21. Trip to the dealership today to pick up our Journey. They say they found the problem with the alarm; there were loose connections at the module. They said the connections were tightened and the problem should be fixed. I'm really hoping it is.
  22. Thanks for the tip. I picked up the Journey today, the breaks are still sqeaking. There was a slight squeak when I left the dealership, but they started to get worse as I continued to drive. I called and asked if the vehicle was test driven and the problem gone, he said it was. He told me the vehicle sat overnight so it should be expected that there would be some squeak and it would get better as I drove along. I told him how it was progressing. He recommended bringing it back in if the problem persits for another visit because it might be the calipers or something else. He assured me there was lots of pad left and reminded me of the 20,000 km warranty on the breaks; if I bring it in at 19,999kms and they need to be replaced, they'll do it under warranty.
  23. You could always purchase a car seat that has a base that is installed using the seat belt. The carrier then latches into the base. The great thing about this kind of carrier is that if you have to use a different vehicle, like a cab, you don't need the base. The seat belt threads through the carrier and secures the child and carrier. (We bought ours from Graco) I agree the middle of the backseat would be the safest place for an infant, if you do a lot of driving just you and the baby though, you might want to consider moving the seat over to the passenger side of the vehicle. It can be very difficult to bend your arm 90 degrees to reach the child while they are in the middle.
  24. Ours turns off after a short delay. Even if you change your dimmer switch to always on, it will shut off on it's own. It doesn't matter whether the car is locked or not, even if the doors are open, the light will shut off eventually. It's kind of like watching water boil, it may seem like an eternity, but it will happen.
