  1. No dice, Chrysler Canada isn't closing any dealerships: "Mary Gauthier with Chrysler in Windsor, Ontario says the company "has no plans to restructure" its Canadian dealer network and "no plans to rationalize the number of dealers" in this country. She says Chrysler expects the number of Canadian dealerships to "remain relatively stable" at about 450. One reason for eliminating some U.S. dealerships is that they do not sell all three of the company's brands. But Gautier says "virtually all" of the Canadian dealers handle Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep." http://www.news1130.com/news/local/more.js...514_180527_8992
  2. Yeah, I had that stuff on my last vehicle, it's amazing. The dealership replaced my wiper blade. The problem still exsists, although it is not as bad. I'll have to take a trip to the lot to look at the other Journeys though because the driver's side wiper arm is twisted at the base and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that. The passenger side isn't.
  3. I had this exact same problem!! Sooooo annoying!!!!! After an unsuccessful diagnostic and it happening again. I called the dealer while it was going off. They said there was no reason for it. No kidding! In the end, they found that the wires connecting to the module for the alarm were loose/not connected properly. So they fixed that. I haven't had the problem since and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope this helps! PS >> When your dealer tells you they've never heard of the problem before, don't let that discourage you. You're not crazy! There seems to be a lot of little annoying electrical problems with the Journey. (I've already had my horn replaced once, alarm worked on, passenger side power window repaired...etc) Aside from that, the vehicle is amazing! It's kind of like a catch-22: I love the funtionality, the ride, the utility; I hate the numerous warranty issues!

  5. Thank you for the recommendation. This is the second vehicle I've purchased through Southbank. I had my reservations about taking it to their service department because the Service Manager there was a sexist, arrogant, sob. When I purchased the Journey, I expressed my concerns about their service department, mainly the Manager. They assured me that he no longer worked there and were adamant that they could make me happy. I think the problems trickled down from the old Service Manager, because I'm not getting anywhere with the repairs to my vehicle. I think we will try Metro, it's close to where I work, so I would actually be able to use their shuttle service. I'm just so annoyed that my wonderful Journey is being treated like a second rate vehicle because the person who signed on the dotted line doesn't have a 'Y' chromosome! I may not know everything about cars, but I know enough to realize when they're trying to pull one over on me. I shouldn't have to send my husband in just so I get their so-called five-star service!
  6. No, our dealer is Southbank. We're at about 15,800kms. If you're asking about Metro, does that mean you wouldn't recommend us going there?
  7. I had my Journey in to look at the brakes because they were squealing so badly I was embarrassed! The first time I took it in, they told me they were just dirty, so they cleaned them and that should do it. I had suspicions about them "cleaning" the brakes because using the brakes does just that. Of course, the squealing was still there. I took it in a second time to have them look at the brakes. This time I received a call from the Service Manager asking me where my locking wheel nut was. Now, it's always been in the same place, and shouldn't they have known that if they worked on them the last time? So I told him where it was and asked "Just out of curiosity, how did you get the wheels off the last time if you didn't have it?", and there was this pause in his voice like, "shoot she caught us" and he said, "Oh, well, our technician has a 'master' but we like to use the one that came with your vehicle if you have it." I had to look in that location for something else and found a new package with a note, "Please keep in vehicle". Well, they couldn't have looked very hard because it was under the papers that were under that package. They put NEW locks on my wheels! Which means they never even bothered to look at my brakes the first time I took it in! They wasted my time and Chrysler's money doing "warranty work" and paying for a rental for me. Plus, they gave me a new set of locking wheel nuts! I know they're new because the old one doesn't fit and they're cleaner than my rims! I don't know if the incompetence is only at the technician level or if the Service Manager is in on it too but I think it's time for a new dealership! I now have serious doubts that they are qualified to do more intensive warranty work. Five star service my a**!
  8. The dealer said they found and applied the TSB for this. I still have the grinding noise, though it isn't as bad as it was before they "fixed" it, I have suspicions it will get worse over time. I'll have to talk to them again. I am seriously considering finding a new dealership to help me.
  9. I also have SXT FWD with 19" wheels and Kumhos, performance suspension & steering. No problem with shuddering. The ride is unbelievably smooth! I agree with the seat comment too! I think I would like to switch the seats out of the Jeep Liberty and put them in my Journey! Those seats are incredibly comfortable!!
  10. The only issue I had with my tires was when the warm weather came and the tires needed some air in them. They chirped at me to let me know. No, not the low tire pressue warning light, the tires actually chirp when they are underinflated and you make a fast turn or are fast off the line. I wonder if putting more air in your tires will help make them a little more rigid and less likely to mark your driveway? I had another Dodge before this one, same tire brand, sooooo soft! I would imagine these are going to need to be replaced before winter hits us again...
  11. I don't think it was brake dust causing the noise, it's not like we have drums that it will collect in, like a bus, yet when I brake you'd think I do. I just had the pads and rotors replaced. At 15,000 they were squealing so bad it was embarrassing!!! The work-order said the reason for replacement was "overheated/rust". Not quite sure how they were overheated. Brand new brakes, no squeal, great stopping power! Sucks that they've created vibration in the front end. Back the vehicle goes!
  12. What!? So that growling/vibration noise when I accelerate ISN'T normal? Hmmm...I purchased my vehicle in September. Surely they would have made sure all TSBs were applied before selling the vehicle...
  13. Wow, I feel really bad for you. I live in Canada, so the rules are a little different here, I wish I had some helpful advice to give you. I can tell you one thing though, you're not alone. It seems as though half of the people who own Journeys have problems, and several of them. The other half have no problems. I want a vehicle built in that plant! I think mine was built on the day before a long weekend, or the day after it. Someone was definately ******* the dog while they were supposed to be doing quality control!
  14. Ok, so they replaced the pads and rotors. Squealing is GONE! YAY!!! Oh but wait, now the front end is vibrating! Took it back! I don't know if they put one of the tires on crooked or one of the rotors was warped but I don't like it. And I certainly don't want to be driving around with something out of wack that's going to cause problems elsewhere in the vehicle! (I've had enough of those already!) Feels like I have snow in my rims, and though I live in Canada, that isn't possible with the weather we've had, also increased sound of "road noise". I feel a bit of a vibration at the end of braking. Very weird. They told me they're going to keep it a least over night. This 2009 Mitsubishi Endeavor is really growing on me; had one on the weekend, have a different one today! So now I'm into my 2nd rental vehicle this month, was 3 last month I think. Terrible thing is the rental place knows me by name as soon as I walk in. They think it's a riot, saying that I miss them, what I really miss is the brand new vehicle I purchased in September! What's even worse is that I'm waiting for parts for the griding noise in my steering, don't know when they're going to come in but I'll bet they're going to give me another rental! Found out my dealership has been overbooking. Filling their day with appointments, then taking walk-ins too. Sounds like my doctor's office. Apparently they put through 95 rentals last month alone! Most rentals last at least two days, a staggaring number last two or three weeks, at $45.00/per day, no wonder Chrysler is in trouble! I'm sure they've spent close to $1000 in rental fees just on me, just this year!
  15. Looks great! I'll have to show my husband. I looked up the product online, seems like a good idea. I know they "say" it won't ruin your paint when you take it off. What kind of guarantee do they have?
  16. The service manager believed me, checked for the TSB and actually found it! Parts are ordered. Dude told me 2 or 3 days (that was monday), though I fail to see how they will come in that quickly since they are BACK-ORDERED!! Not surprised at the misinformation...
  17. Ok so, survey says the Michelin blades are probably not the problem. I had the vehicle in for other "issues" and had them take a look at it. The technician said there was lots of tension, but tightented the arm a little more. He suggested ordering a new wiper blade as the one we had looked "worn". I don't think he knows what he's talking about, at that point the blades were only a week old and definately didn't look warn. While the extra bit of tension did reduce the amount of streaking a little, it didn't get rid of it. Vehicle went back in today for other "issues" and they will take a look at it again. On a different note, we had purchased those Armour-All wiper blades that were recalled. They worked amazingly well, aside from them coming off the arm all the time. We didn't know about the recall until we brought them back in because we were frustrated that they kept coming off everytime we cleaned snow off the windsheild. Apparently, they had been flying off of peoples' cars while they were driving down the highway! A little scary since the previous weekend we had driven 1,200kms in a crazy downpour! We were the lucky ones I guess....
  18. No kidding! Like when my alarm was all messed up. They did a diagnostic and it reported nothing to them, so they told me there was no problem, I must have hit the panic button. When they actually physically inspected it though, they found faulty connections.
  19. Interesting tip. The odd thing about these streaks is it's more of a miss-wipe. Like the blade isn't touching the window, and only in the centre of the blade.
  20. That's good advice - if I wanted to change my wheels. I don't want to change them though, I love my wheels, 19" Chrome looks fantastic on the Journey. I was simply commenting on the fact that the spare is so small. And yes, I understand that it is only meant to go from point A to point B so that you can either repair or replace your busted tire. Also, we spoke to our sales person about winter tires and what size we should get. Obviously, the larger we go, the more expensive they will be. He suggested 17's because he thought the 16's would mess with the speedometer and odometer.
  21. Has anyone had problems with their wiper blades leaving some serious streaking on the window, to the point that you might as well just drive with the rain for all the visibility you have? The cheap wiper blades that came with the vehicle started to come apart and flap all over after just 6 months, so we purchased brand new wipers from Michelin. I'm still getting serious streaking. It seems as though the arm isn't putting enough pressure on the windsheild. Either that or the windsheild is warped.
  22. Welcome! She's a beauty! Minus the roof rack and she looks just like ours!! Gotta love that performance suspension! Makes all the difference in the world, eh?
  23. What I don't understand is how they can really think they can get away with it. I mean, do they think I'm making these problems up just because I want to waste my time taking it in to them? If I wanted to drive a different vehicle every other week, I would just rent cars all the time. But I don't, that's why I purchased a new vehicle!
  24. It comes standard with 16's. If I purchased mine with 16's and put 19's on, there would have to be an adjustment made. I know they'll never change it, it's just annoying.
  25. We have the 19's on our Journey. Ran over a screw, flattened the tire while we were doing groceries. Put the spare tire on it the rain. I swear the spare is the size of my rim (just the rim, no rubber). Looked like a fool with broken hydraulics the way my Journey was leaning! It would be nice if they could include a larger spare for Journeys that are delivered with the 19s already on!
