That's the easier part. The recall also involves removing the wiper cowl to gain access to the ABS module. The harness connector there has to be inspected and dielectric grease applied if there is no corrosion present at it.

The recall procedure and parts availability were recently updated and are now available for people to schedule. We did one so far and it took about an hour and a half to do.

What I meant was don't schedule an appointment yet to have the recall work done - there are no parts avaialble yet or any technician instructions posted yet for the repair procedure. However, if your Journey has an ABS light on, you can schedule it for repair, since it could be on for a wide variety of reasons besides recall-related ones. Once the recall parts and procedures become available, a follow-up recall letter will be sent to you, at which point you may then schedule an appointment to have the recall work done.

There is no need to go to your dealer unless you have an ABS light on. The recall campaign itself has not yet been initiated; only the interim notices have been sent advising you that there will be a recall.

Journeyman, that's the way I see it too. I could not imagine why it was prohibited. I did email Chrysler customer care, and if I get a reply I will post an update.

I have not. However, your issue sounds more to me like an intermittent ABS wheel speed sensor. If there is a loss if signal from one or more wheel speed sensors, it will trigger an ABS light which will go off once the sensor begins to read the wheel speed again. There should be a stored fault code in the ABS module. If the car is scanned with the light on it will tell what area the problem lies In.

Not all vehicles in the prescribed range (2012-2015) will be recalled. Some vehicles presumeably use a different ground wire eyelet or the ground point is different.

Recall R61 was just announced on Dec. 7. This is a copy of the interim letter sent to owners of affected Journeys. I don't know what part(s) will be required to make the repair yet..that has not yet been announced:
IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL R61 / NHTSA 15V-675 This notice applies to your vehicle (VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
This interim notification letter is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Dear: (Name) FCA has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2012 through 2015 model year Dodge Journey vehicles.
The problem is... Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module on your vehicle may have a ground wire eyelet on the right front shock tower that allows water to wick through the ground wire case and into the ABS module. Moisture in the ABS module could disable the ABS and/or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system(s). The lack of a functioning ABS and/or ESC system(s) could change the braking and/or handling characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning.
    What your dealer will do:
FCA intends to repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). However, the parts required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are currently not available. FCA is making every effort to obtain these parts as quickly as possible. FCA will contact you again by mail, with a follow-up recall notice, when the remedy parts are available. There is no issue with towing a FWD car on its rear wheels. ON a FWD Journey, the rear wheels have absolutely no connection to the drivetrain, so as long as the front wheels are not turning while towing, then it is safe.

The latch mechanisms are cable-actuated by the release levers. The cable may not be acting on the latch or the latch itself may be stuck. Your dealer will repair this under warranty.

We love ours - 2013 Crew with all options except DVD. Our kids are 13 and 17 and we're never wanting for more space. Exceptional ride and handling, quiet, powerful and economical - 24 MPG combined average most of the year, drops a few when it's really cold. I would buy another one tomorrow if I had to. 50,000 miles, only defect was the radio (common). Survived a major accident with no injuries to my wife and the car still drives perfectly.

Yes, the sales codes can be added ahead of the actual accessory. I did this for dhh3. His VIN now has AHC even though he has not yet installed the hitch and wiring. One you reconfigure the car, the code stays there regardless of future reconfiguration events. Only if someone were to remove the sales code and then reconfigure the vehicle would the feature be lost. So, if I were to add AHC to your VIN now, and you add remote start before you add the hitch and your dealer reconfigures the car to recognize the remote start, it will pick up the remote start code and the hitch wiring code togerther. Later on when you add the hitch and wiring, it will work because it's already been reconfigured.

AHC enables the power to the trailer harness. It tells the vehicle that the harness is present and energizes the fuse or relay in the TIPM so that there is power in the harness for the trailer lights. AHT signifies that the vehicle was built from the factory with Trailer Tow Prep group.

No. The Options Report is divided into four groups: Standard features, Options, Special Equipment and Dealer-Installed Options. Sales code AHC appears at the bottom under Dealer-Installed Options. This code is always present in this position on a Journey Options Report since they are never built with hitches and wiring from the factory. Trailer Tow Prep Group sales code is AHT, and if the vehicle was built with it at the factory then that code appears in the Options section.
