  1. When I installed the harness I checked the 4 pin flat connector for the trailer and it had no power at any of the terminals. Dealer said the flash tells the computer that the harness is there and it basically activates the newly installed harness. Didn't charge me anything, had it done at oil change time.
  2. The wiring harness for the tow prep package was in the back of my DJ when I picked it up. I looked at the instructions which said you needed to pull, the rear fascia to install it. Crawled under the car to take a look, no need to pull bumper. Installation was 10 minutes, all clips etc line up with factory holes. Got the dealer to flash the computer when I brought it in for an oil change. Lights all work fine.
  3. Got a call from my dealer the other day telling me hitches had arrived. This happened a few weeks after I gave up waiting and got one from u-haul. I was pretty annoyed until he told me that the new ones are virtually identical to the aftermarket style. Guess we'll just have to get used to the look of the new ones. Very frustrating though for the people who have been waiting forever.
  4. Needed desperately to tow my utility trailer this week and of course I'm still patiently waiting for my back ordered hitch. I ended up surrendering and went to Uhaul paid $220 and was out of there in 40 minutes. Too bad Chrysler can't do the same. Unfortunately it doesn't look all that great, but at least I can tow. I might change it if Mopar comes through before it's time for a new car.
  5. Just got off the phone with the Dodge dealer I bought my Journey from. I placed an order for the factory style hitch, vertical receiver, hidden behind the fascia type. Original part # was 8221043-AB. Parts guy said that part # has been replaced by part # 82213561. He also said the price is $291 plus installation. He said they stock an aftermarket model which is the type that hangs down below the fascia, not what I want. The bad news is there are currently 800 units on backorder for Canada and Chrysler has no promised date of delivery. Fortunately no deposit required. Seems strange considering the Journey is not a new model and towing a trailer is not a new concept. I guess it should be expected since I ordered the vehicle with the tow package and all they did was leave the trailer wiring in the back in a bag. It took me a grand total of 10 minutes to install it in my driveway. Now the computer needs flashed to recognize the harness that the factory or the dealer should have installed for me. And car comapnies wonder why customers get frustrated and are unsatisfied? Think I'll start searching the aftermarket as well.
  6. I put a set of Husky liners in front, back and cargo area. Look good to me. Retailer recommended them, said they are just as good as Weather Tech and cheaper as well. Offered to sell me the Weather Tech if I really insisted on parting with the extra $$.
  7. Just bought a set of winter tires and rims at a Green and Ross dealer. Went with a set of "factory fit" 17 inch steel rims and 225/65/17 Michelin X-ice tires. Tight fit around calipers, maybe an eight of a inch, but no rubbing. Close enough in height to the factory 19's that there doesn't seem to be any issue with the speedo, compared gauge to the GPS and it looks ok. I didn't spring for four more TPMS sensors, way too much money. EVIC flashed a warning and lit up low pressure LED about tire pressure and after about ten minutes shut itself off and tire pressure indication is now blank. Hopefully it turns itself back on in spring when I put the other tires back on.
  8. My wife initially wanted black which looks good except keeping it clean is tough. White is a bit more forgiving.
  9. Greetings all. Found this forum when I was planning to buy a new Journey. Love all of the valuable info, which was very informative. Settled on a pearl white 2012 R/T with tan/black interior. Fully loaded except for seven passenger seating. Wife and I both love it. Quiet, powerful, comfortable. Mileage way better than 2008 Ram we traded. Couple of idiosyncrasies mostly with uconnect. Tinted front windows to match rest, put some Husky floor liners in and put clear film across leading edge of hood to protect paint. I'll be digging through this forum for answers to any questions I have.
