  1. I also installed the same hitch on my 2012 and did not have a problem. I even have the tire cover that came from the factory (most Journey's don't have this, not sure why mine came with one). Like wingit11 stated, you need to help guide it into position by leading the tire above the hitch as you raise it. After doing this it will seat properly.
  2. Don't expect the Mopar hitch to look like the ones in the links above and on the Mopar website. After waiting 9 months for mine, it finally arrived and is styled just like other after market hitches. Hangs lower and sticks out. It is a Mopar part with Mopar instructions. The old hidden version is no longer available. Only way to get one now is if you can find a used one somewhere. What is more frustrating is that when they changed the part number for the new style they also changed the part number for the ball mount adapter and the new ball mount adapter is still designed for use in the original vertical mount design of the receiver. Can't figure out why they would not have continued with the old style when they still make the old style ball mount adapter.
  3. One other thing that was disappointing. The adapter ball mount (for vertical mount) which was also on backorder and got a new part number is still good for the original vertical mount receiver. Got a refund for that since it is of no use for me with the new receiver. Amazing they can make one of the parts the same as originally marketed but not the other.
  4. Make sure you get some refund on the new style. It is actually listed cheaper on the Mopar web site now. Just got mine today and dealer refunded the difference in price. I too am disappointed that it now looks like the after market hitches. I would have gotten one of them a long time ago (9 months) if I had known it would not be truly hidden. Only satisfaction is that I will now do the install myself since you don't have to take off the rear fascia. It will also work better with my bike rack since it is no longer a vertical attachment receiver. And yes it is a Mopar hitch, complete with Mopar part number and Mopar instructions. If you want to still try and get one of the original hidden hitches, you will have to find a used one.
  5. Went to my dealer yesterday. It's bad when they see me and know me by name. Unfortunately, Mopar still does not have an ETA for the hitch in the system and is not even replying to the dealer. Dealer showed the message they sent to Mopar in the system abouty 2 weeks ago and have yet to get a response. There are currently about 750 hitches on backorder nationally in United States. Can't blame the dealer for this one, Mopar is the one dropping the ball. The only reason given so far is that there was a supplier change. Seems fishy, any decent supplier could build a new weld jig to make these hitches. Any good DIY welder could make one for his garage and make his own hitch.
  6. The new part# is also the one showing up on the Mopar web sight. Asked the dealer if it was still the drop down style or straight out. This information was not known. Have to wait and see what it looks like when it does arrive. Either way, a price adjustment appears to be in the future. There is now a supplier who has missed two ship dates. One in November and the last one being scheduled for 12-11-12. Also the drop down hitch ball mount adapter pt#82208642AB, MSRP $45.50, has a scheduled supplier ship date of 1-15-13. Don't want to quote the dealer install price, however it's in the $200 range.
  7. kamhillbilly - $1,200 is way overpriced. In the US the MSRP for part#82210403AB Receiver Hitch is $291. Although the dealer has been given a new part #882213561 and the MRP is now $229.
  8. Getting really frustrated with the backorder issue of the hitch receiver. Placed my order in June and still no receiver. Want the Mopar receiver since it is truly hidden. Dealer has been great to work with since they stay in communication with me. Seems hard to believe there is an issue with getting a supplier to build. It's not complicated tooling. Complete welding systems could be built in the time frame I've been waiting. Any competent DIY'r with welding experience could easily build a jig to fabricate. Need to do some towing in the near future and don't really want to get an aftermarket hitch since they all protrude out past the fascia.
