  1. I have a 2015 R/T AWD, when I brake, I feel the brake pedal give. Not a lot, but it is like a spring gives just enough to feel, not enough for the pedal to give, but enough to feel through my foot. I had it in and checked. Of course they did not have the issue. Anyone else get this? It does it most of the time now. Again, I have had not lights, or loss of brakes. It is more of an irritation now.

  2. I have a 2015 Journey R/T AWD and the breaks are grabby in cold starts, but ease up after warming them up. My break peddle has a slight give to it from time to time. Sort of like when you are sitting at a light, or just stopped with your foot on the break and all of a sudden it feels like a spring gives just enough to feel it give. There is no loss of breaks or lights, just a feel of a spring give with the break pushed in. Not pushed to the floor, just pushed in enough to stop. It is hard to explain, but that is one thing I have noticed.

  3. I had a 2014 FWD Dart, I really loved it in summer and fall. Then winter came and last month we got 8+ inches of snow and my street was so bad, I had to park at the end of my street a walk to my house. A fwd Journey is fine, but I wanted/needed that extra wheels spinning to help me deal with the kind of snow we get in NW Ohio. Besides it only goes AWD when traction is needed. MPG's only take a 1-2 MPG hit for AWD, IMO to me it was worth the cost and a small piece of mind. Tires are another great way to get through the snow/ice as well.

  4. I bought my 2009 Dodge Journey SXT on February 20,2009. I traded my 2009 Dodge Journey SXT in on a 2010 Dodge RAM 1500 Hemi 4x4 on May 10,2010. I am kind of sad, but excited at the same time. I love the Journey, but I wanted to get a truck. I had 15,059 miles on my Journey when I traded it in. I had four trips from Walbridge,Ohio to Kentucky and I loved the MPG's on Hwy. I loved the ride and all the little things. Back up camera, touch screen radio,UConnect, etc. All and all I had a great time in my Journey. I wish all of you Journey owners the best and hope your Journey is and was as great as mine.

  5. I have never heard of blowing a engine because you miss a oil change (on a regular car). I would think if it does come up, you could just say you change your own oil. They could still say prove it, but then you could say prove the problem was caused by a lack of a oil change.

Dilbert had a funny cartoon one time. It basically said they make a product and then give it some high maintenance intervals so they don't have to honor the warranty. They said they were "using the law to fight off justice".

Well, I am just passing along what I was told. Besides I use synthetic oil and then I take it to the dealer and even with the tire rotation it is still cheaper than if I used their synthetic oil alone. Keep records to cover your butt, then there are no questions.

  6. I have the same problem and my Journey only has 2100kms on it. It must be a normal thing. I think that if I took it into the dealer they would look at me funny say something just to make me happy and kick me out the door. Has anyone out there found a solution to this?

I used to own a 1998 Saturn SL2 and had the same problem. I replaced the alternator - no change. I then changed the battery and that is what made a difference. But I can't think that my battery would be shot after only owning the vehicle for a month or so. The manufacture date is 12/09. So I wouldn't think that it the battery is the problem, but hey, you never know.

Never think that just because something is new it is not broke. Batteries are mass produced, so if it is the battery, it should still be under the 12/12 warranty. Everything is covered for 12 months or 12k miles whatever comes first.

  7. I have the 3.5L v6. I use Royal Purple synthetic oil in it. Ask the dealer, but I was told the longest Chrysler wants oil change to go is 6K,or 6500 miles. No matter what type of oil used, the oil filter is IMO the weak link. So, when in doubt ask the dealer and get it in writing if you do not trust their word. My 2cents.

  8. Hello to all my fellow DJ owners,

I bought my Dodge Journey SXT 3.5L v6 back on February 21,2009. It had 13 miles on it when I first test drove it. I must say I really like this cross over. I have had mostly small cars a 1994 Caravan and a 2003 L200 Saturn. This fits into my life very nicely. Enough room to take trips in and yet not too big for a daily commuter. it handles very good nice ride. I have a 2007 Caliber that rides a lot more stiff/rough and this is a very nice riding vehicle. I am not as happy with the way the front breaks wear and build up dust, it is a major pain to me. I enjoy a clean car and it drives me crazy to see all the break dust build up. Knock on wood, I have had no major issue with my Journey. I have had a few minor incidents where someone hit my bumper in back and needed it fix due to a bolt came through the bumper a bit enough to create a problem down the road. The interior is very nice and comfortable, the heated seats and mirrors are very nice on cold days. I wish it had turn signals built into the mirrors, I in my opinion like it. The trunk with the seats folded down has ample room, with them up it has room for a few bags of things and two small humans, lol. I like the option of a small two seats, or more truck space. All in all I am very happy with my Journey and except for a few minor changes I would not trade it, except for a newer Journey with these options, lol.

  9. I have a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT 3.5l V6. I have been on a few trips of several hundred miles per trip. I have gotten 21-24 on the highway, at one point I did get 27.3 mpg. I know it may sound wrong, but I checked it a few times and it was not wrong. I fill up the same way I slow fill it till it clicks off then slow fill it again for 2 more clicks. I fill up that way all time every time I fill/top off. I get 15-17 in the city. I tend to drive the Journey nice some times and not so nice a lot of the times, lol. I do not beat it,I am a more spirited driver. I have filled up/topped off 49 times this year, I am averaging 16.98 MPG over all. My low mpg is 13.88 mpg and the high being 27.3 mpg. I am pretty happy with the Journey. I really do love it.

  10. Just have to remember MPG's can depend on alot of things. Wind, temp, how miles are on the Journey. I have been told by the dealer that the true MPG's won't show up till around 12k miles. I guess what can be expected from then on I guess a norm.

  11. My wife had the Journey in for an oil change, and when she came home she told me that the "Change Oil" indication was still there. So out I go with manual in hand for about an hour, and it would not reset??

I looked at the receipt from the dealer and noticed that the oil quantity was half a litre less than every other oil change.

Took it to the dealer the next day and showed him the oil quantity, and they added the difference, and voila, I was able to reset the oil change indicator first try??

Is it possible that it will not reset if the oil level is not correct after the oil is dumped and refilled?

If you were to change your oil at home, and you were parked on a sloped driveway, maybe it wouldn't reset?

    Any thoughts??

    RP

It sounds logical, I have taken my Journey to the dealer for my oil changes. I use RP and just pay them for the change and filter. With the lifetime warranty it is best to keep a nice paper trail

  12. I can see where you would go with the 93. I am just saying when all possible it is best to use 87-89. I use Shell gas in my Journey and like I have said I have used all others I could find. Giant Eagle here in Ohio at least around the Toledo area their gas is 100% gas. I have used that and in my own experiments on using gas from all stations in and around Toledo, Shell has netted me the best MPG's. They are rated as one of the Tier One gases along with some more, but Shell is the only one on the list that is near by where I live there is like 2 with in 5 miles from my house and at least 4 with in 10 miles,so I use that gas. Both of my Dodges have ran better on Shell. I know I keep track of every tank of gas. My wife took over the Caliber when I bought the Journey and she does not track gas like I do, so the Caliber's record is gone. She goes where ever she is at. Says she is getting 24-26 running around town and some Highway. That is good cause she is a runner, lol.

  13. I would not use any gas over 89. Use 87 or 89 do some tests and see where it puts you. I have been using Shell gas only in my 3.5L Journey. I use Shell gas in my Journey for the fact that my 2007 Dodge Caliber 2.0L CVT got better MPG's with the Shell gas than any other fuel. So,I just keep using it in my Journey.

  14. Well I can tell you from my own experience that with my V-6 I am getting an average of 22mpg. My buddy has a four-cylinder and he tells me that with just about 6,000 miles he is getting about 26mpg hwy! Not bad for an under-powered overweight vehicle.

    Happy Motoring...

I am not saying that it is a bad engine, but it does have to work harder to move the same size auto than with the v6.
