  1. Hello again JourneyMan71! I totally agree with you about buying a brand new car in its first year. Its probably something I will never do again (I just fell in love with the Journey)....I am learning the hard way. I now realize it is a risk that I took.....but at the same time it is a risk for a car company to put a brand new vehicle out on the market.....In my opinion Chrysler needs to be more "careful" in putting a vehicle out like this and treat their customers that are having problems in the correct manner. I never thought owning my Dodge Journey would be so troublesome. It really makes me sad :-(

I am not telling anyone not to buy a new car, just you must know that with a all new auto it will need some years under its belt to get full quality from it. Bugs and tweeks need to be worked out. I am sorry you got a not so quality Journey. You are right about it being a risk for both parties. Look at the Caravan/T&C they were not that good in start, but now they are one of the Best Mini vans on the market. We are all faced with Hybrids and electric cars coming out soon. Keep you eyes on these as well. I am sure there will be a ton of issues with them from all auto makers. Just remember to get a WARRENTY,lol

  2. Thanks for info. If you dont mind how is your journey optioned?

It is pretty well loaded. Sticker was $30,335 with all my rebates employee pricing and my trade in tax out the door, under 22,000 I was able to finance 48 months 0% interest, that saved me another 3-5 grand. I love it,lol.5+2 seating 3.5L v6,rear backup camera, rear dvd, etc.

  3. So it is in the book that we should be able to see it in the EVIC when low and none of us with EVIC can see it. Who wants to explain this to a dealer first? The fact that other models do or don't show it all the time does not mean much. My 2001 Jeep had way more functions in the EVIC that this does and I am still trying to get used to that.

I know they have a few EVIC one where the button is in the dash, and the other where the controls are in the steering wheel. That may have something to do with it, maybe, lol.

  4. One big problem with todays cars is that most all the parts are done by outside suppliers. If they have issues it may take a while to show up. Not an excuse just some insight on the matters. I use to work for a supplier that made the interior door panels for the Nitro and Liberty. They also had suppliers for the speakers and wire harnesses.

  5. My wife curently owns a caliber. Im a mopar guy. So we go look and drive a journey opened door and headliner and carpet soaked. The caliber has sun roof and, we have never had a lick of trouble. The journey had sunroof we were going to buy until that. Has anyone had any good luck with this car? I have never had problem with caliber it is a very reliable car but my boys are getting bigger and find we are toting friends more. If anyone has any input on good or bad I would grateful.

I also have a Caliber I bought new in December 2007. It is a SXT 2.0l with CVT. I love that car. I just bought my new Journey SXT 3.5L on Feb 21,2009. So far I have no issues to complain about. I can not tell you to buy it or not, I can say that I do love mine. I waited for it and when it came out I got a great deal on it, and paid less for it than my Caliber. It rides alot better than the Caliber and has more room.

  6. Yes, this was the first and will be the last time I ever buy a brand new car in its first year. That is obviously a mistake, but my car has had 6 attempts to fix it and next week will be the 7th. I don't consider this to be just a "bug". 6 attempts! And each time I have brought it in to the dealer they replace something with "hope" that it will fix the problem.....not ever understanding the problem. I think a lot of dearlers are like this. I think that if they would have taken the time to understand the problem a little more it would be fixed by now. What a waste of money.....really. I am disgusted with Chrysler.

Anyway, I wish you luck with your Journey and hope that you don't have problems with it. Also keep in mind....my car started it's issue at 17,000 miles.

Have you tried a different dealer? Have you contacted Chrysler about the problems? I do not know, but it may be the dealer you have been too. I know that they should be, but not all the dealers are the same. It maybe that the techs do not see these very much and do not know that much about them. If you have not, I'd look for a different dealer, if you have, then I would call Chrysler until they help you. What kinds of problems do you have?

  7. I have always been told not to buy a car in the first year due to problems and bugs that need to be worked out. That being said that really is the only way to make a more reliable auto is to have reall world issues address when they arise. Unfortunately we are the test subjects. I suggest an extended warrenty. We all have the life time power train atleast the US versions do. You can also get a life time max care warrenty (bumper to bumper) at a cost of course. Unlimited miles and time just like the power train, but in the max care coverage.

  8. I am not defending Chrysler, but it is an all new auto. It will have issues and bugs that will need to be worked out. Unfortunately some people like yourself will get the ones that need alot of attention. I only have had mine for just over 1 month and have a little less than 1100 miles on it, so I can not be a good reference to go by. I am sorry you are having alot of problems with your Journey. It really sucks to pay so much for something and hear from others how they have had no issues, or problems with their Journey while you are POed due to yours. With your help on here we can all benefit from your experience and know what to watch out for. Good luck and keep us updated to your issues and their resolutions if any.

  9. Ok, I have the USA version Dodge Journey SXT 3.5L. Go out (if you have not done so) and press unlock button, then press and hold down the unlock button again untill the windows go down where you want them. It works, it really does, lol.

Never call the police to help you get your car unlocked if you lock your keys in the car. I made the mistake today and did call the police. They do not use a slim jim anymore, atleast not my local ones. He used a wedge shaped plastic piece and it scratched and chewed up the black trim on both front and back doors. Having the insurence look at it next week. Yes, it was bad enough for me to call them. My Journey is not even 1 month old yet.

  10. i am from the UK, and pop in almost daily,

i have had lots of probs with mine but they have all been sorted by the dealer.... £6500 worth, and will list what later.

That is what helps us all when we share any issues we have. It will help the rest watch out for these on our Journeys.

  11. It should be clipped to the glove box but you may have to buy the adapter cable from the dealer. My RT had the connector in the glove box but not the cable for connecting to the iPod. I will say that I like the integration. Good luck.

Really, the cable came with my Journey. I had the wireless head sets and rear video as well, maybe they were all a packaged deal?

  12. I bought my Journey RT 2 days ago with the Entertainment Group II options. I understand that it should have the iPod connector in the glovebox but I cannot locate it in either box.

Can someone let me know that with the uConnect options, should it not be there?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the SXT and it is located in the upper corner of the bottom glove box. If I remember correctly it has a cover or top that needs to flip up to connect the ipod. I have mine plugged in and it charges the ipod so no need to take it out and recharge it. Let me know if you find it,ok.

  13. After driving a terrible Renault Megane Senic ( since we have to lease "clean" ) my clean Dodge Journy will be deliverd in April !!

I fell in love with US cars driving them on our US trips. As soon as it's in we'll be off for a survivaltrip in the Ardennes and in July it will be driven all through Scandinavia (7500 k). Can't wait !!!

Welcome and glad to hear you will be getting your Journey soon, good luck keep us up dated on your travels with it.
