    Gas mileage

http://www.billswebspace.com/AirFilterTest.htm Here's the test I was talking about
  2. Its a HUGE misconseption that K&N, etc will give you a mileage increase. On any vehicle that has an O2 sensor, the mixture is always being trimmed, so A/F restriction is a non issue. Power can be effected, but the filter has to be quite dirty for that to happen, and only than at WOT. I also don't like the small particles the aftermarket filters let through. There was a good test online, I'll see if I can find it. I have seen alot of hurt Cummins on our trucks from poor aftermarket filters being added, and the engines being "dusted".
  3. He may not be looking close enough at pics, very possible they are the small ones. His may look bigger, as he has the small wheels. Thats why I posted pics , both with the same wheels. Easiest way is to look at front caliper, the 2 styles look quite a bit different. Wish I could offer a better breakdown as to what has what, but have been able to find nothing listed anywhere.

These things are heavy, esp. with AWD dragging along, so not suprising they are alot worse in town, I didnt want AWD but didn't have any choice up here, R/T gets it
  5. hdfxst above has a US SXT AWD above, and he says his have the bigger ones, so looks like its the AWD that gets the bigger brakes.
  6. Probably also flex lines/abs controller/master cyl. ...........bigger brakes are going to have a differnt feel, and reaction to a certain pedal pressure. Othere things have to be changed to compensate for that.
  7. I just looked online, AWD drive only in R/Ts up here. For some reason I thought it was an option on Crew. Guess I don't pay enough attenion to options on the new stuff. I fix em, not sell em ! :-)
  8. Yeah not suprising for stuff over there, I'll bet firmer suspension also. Really, ALL the V6 ones should have these brakes.
  9. Nice, that pretty much says what I figured, they are ONLY on AWD Journeys.
  10. Nope, we have got 6 or 8 more in since mine, and non awd, and they have small ones.
  11. You can't just put the bigger ones on, alot of parts are different. And they are not going to go swap rotor sizes under warr. As far as what gets the bigger ones, I have only stated what I have seen. So far ONLY R/T AWDs have I seen with the bigger ones, but we have had no crew AWDs in, so they may also have the biggers ones also, don't know. I will update as I see them. You sure yours doesn't have the bigger ones?
  12. Well I don't think its a safety issue. I'm sure they were upgraded to make them last longer/be more durable on the heavier AWD Journeys. One size doesn't fit all, and there is quite a spread in weight between the base 4cyl one, and a full load V6 /AWD. All 12 Caravans, also have bigger brakes, which look to be identical to these. I take it yours is an 11?
  13. Every 2012 R/T AWD I have seen HAS the big brakes. I would assume you could change up to the bigger ones, but probably wouldn't be cheap. I'm sure they went bigger as the AWD is heavier, and brakes have always been an issue on these. Dont think anyone is trying to "slip" anything in, its an improvement.

    R/T Rallye Specs

There are no Rallye badges anywhere.
  15. http://rides.webshots.com/album/582663727cArYjD Here a link to where the 4 pics are posted. Cant get them to post.
  16. Yes its AWD, hence why it has the bigger brakes. No R/T on the seats
  17. Ok, I can only seem to be able to post one pic whats up with that. Can't say \i really like the forum software they are running.
  18. I'll take pics when i get a chance. Mine and one at work with the smaller normal ones, but with same wheels. They are quite a bit larger, and look to be dual piston in the front. So far I have only seen the big ones on R/T AWD ones, but will watch closer to see if any other AWD have them.
  19. Not worried about using HIDs, been using them for years without an issue. Thanks for the link, didn't know about that, will check that out.

    R/T Rallye Specs

Let us know how you make out.
  21. Of the 30 or so we have here, only R/T AWD hs them......don't have a crew AWD to look at. I'm betting ONLY AWD gets the big ones.
