  1. No yoking, i could not find anything yet that looks like oil level indicator. Maybe there is a text message in EVIC, but the manual doesn't say so. Has someone checked, if there is a sensor in the oil pan?
  2. Most European cars from mid-size and up have oil level sensors too. That's what I really miss on my Freemont. My last car showed me the oil level every time I turned ignition on. This was a very nice feature. No need to open the hood and get dirty fingers.
  3. Hello and welcome, we can buy the 3.6l pentastar engine in Germany by request. But iit does not show up in the catalog. Fiat Switzerland sells the 3,6 regularly. I read something, that they will sell the 2.4l in eastern Europe.
  4. @ Lebowski Why do you pay your dealer? The car is still under warranty. Fiat has also updates, which can be downloaded by the customers. But this is for cars with blue&me systems only. Updates for uconnect are more critical, because uconnect is also a part of the vehicle control network. If the update-process fails, you might not be able to drive anymore. This happened once to my car, because someone scratched the CDROM. So we had to do a complete system reset. That's the reason, why they do updates only by the dealership.
  5. When you look at the screenshots in the user manual, you can see the RDS-data in full length. This blows my mind. Why did they change it?
  6. I called Fiat again today to tell that I still have a freezing radio. They couldn't give an answer, so I think they don't know, what the problem really is. I told them, that I and many other owners believe, that the 4.3 device will never work fine and they should think about to replace it by a 8.4. At this point I want to say thanks to the forum here. I found a thread where someone posted, that Chrysler sells upgrade kits to 8.4. Fiat did not know about this and tried to tell me, that's not possible. Let's see, how the story goes on.
  7. Hello Lebowski, what i can tell now is: The interrupts while playing music on cd or USB, caused by AF function of radio, are gone. This update should also solve the issue of freezing radio during startup. Mine did it one time again. Let's wait and see. I wonder, that this issue is not on your list. RDS still shows max. 4 characters and dots. So stupid! As I wrote, this is not an official update. I called Fiat Germany and told them, what crap the 4,3 inch device is. So they offered me this beta-version for a test.
  8. Chrysler does not provide customers with software updates for self installation. They only send it to dealer. I got beta-version installed for my 4.3 uconnect last week. It seems that there is hope to get the radio issues fixed. I will test it a few more days and report then.
  9. Hello Luciano, Welcome and congratulations to Your new car. Good choice. It's not easy to understand the politics of the new car models. Here in Europe the brands Chrysler and Dodge are gone to history. The cars are now sold under Fiat and Lancia label. Only Jeep is still jeep, but sold by assorted Fiat dealers. Greetings from Germany, Robert
  10. Congratulations to Your new Freemont! All Freemonts built after January 2012 have bigger front disc-brakes. This is important if You plan to buy snow tyres. There is no way to mount 16 inch rims anymore. Minimum is 17 inch now. Greetings from Germany, Robert
  11. My mileage 7l per 100km is a combo of about 60% country roads, 20% city and 20% highway. I did not make a real highway trip with this car yet. Other Freemont owners report in a german forum, that they brought the mileage down to 5.8l per 100km. This was on highways in Austria with speedlimit 130 km/h. You may think now, that the diesel engines are a "holy cow", but they are not. There are a few things to know about this engines, like this stupid EGR system. If you drive always economic at low rpm, the engine runs most time in EGR-Mode. This means, a part of the exhaust gas comes back and brings soot into the air intake system. So the EGR valve plus air mass sensor will die pretty soon. Whe i had my first diesel car with EGR, i didn´t notice that an had to replace the EGR valve every year.
  12. You are lucky, that your waiting time is "only" 3 month. Here in Europe, the time to delivery is still 5 to 6 months. I tell You, this was a hard time. But it's worth!
  13. Hello, i drove my Freemont almost 6000km now and got an average mileage of 7 Liters per 100km (33 MPG). The mileage of the modern Diesel engines varies in a wide range, depending what kind of trips you make with the car. The reason for this is the filter in the exhaust system. If you go mostly on short trips, the car needs to start the filter regeneration cycle many times more as on longer highway trips. When the regenaration cycle is active, the car burns Diesel fuel like a hog! I think, the performance of the Multijet-Diesel engine fits perfect to the Freemont. My car has a 6 speed manual transmission, which gives it a little less pick up in 1st and 2nd gear. From 3rd to 6th gear the pick up is really good. I also had the chance to make a test-drive with the automatic AWD transmission, which would be my favorit now. Bad thing, that this type was not avaiable when I bought my Freemont. I hope, i could give You a few impressions from our Diesel brother of the DJ. If You have any further questions, just let me know. Greets, Robert
  14. Here in Europe, as my Fiat Freemont, every car comes with the eyebolt in the trunk. In my car, i found it under the lid, where the jack is stored.
  15. Hello, i got a call from my dealer today, because i also have still a lot of trouble with my 4.3 Uconnect. He told me, that there is a major update on the way from chrysler. I hope, it will find it´s way over pretty soon. Greets from Germany, Robert
  16. I´m Robert from Germany and also a Fiat Freemont owner. I saw, there are already some Freemont-Owners here in the forum. I know, this is originally a Dodge Journey forum and would like to ask, if the Fiat drivers are welcome here. This would give me the chance to get in contact international people. Greets to all out there, Robert My car: 2012 Freemont Urban, 170hp Multijet Diesel Engine, 5 Seats, Black
