  1. Looks to be going through a little more than 1.5q/3k. It did not go through this much initially. So what's wrong? The dealerships 1q/1k is BS. I would believe for vehicle engineered and manufactured 20 years ago, but something is wrong when a newer engine is consuming more than a quart between oil changes. This is probably the last Dodge I buy.
  2. 2010 Dodge Journey R/T AWD 3.5L. Uses a little over 1.5q in 3k miles. Monitoring oil consumption but the dealership claims 1q/1k is within normal limits. 430 Media Center does not stream BT audio like it was stated. Hard to find updates for radio. Mitsubishi version is not well supported like the other manufacturer of Chrysler headunits. Otherwise its not a bad vehicle, but even with the third row it is cramped for a family of five with 2 kids in boosters and a baby carrier. Need something bigger.
  3. As I said earlier I added a quart and it looked like it brought it up to lower portion of the SAFE area of the dipstick. Now this was after the engine was running. I checked it yesterday after it had been parked several hours and the dipstick reading was closer to the top of the SAFE reading probably about 3/4 of the way up. So maybe I was not as low on oil as I thought. Is it true that the oil level reading is more accurate after the engine has been idle for a duration? As I said earlier something smelled hot but the engine temp never got above what it normally reads but it was a cold day also.
  4. I agree. I am not saying that you should rely on the warning light, but as you said retomatoman, that engine's a baby. I have been changing the oil every 3k opposed to what the manufacturer reccommended 6k. I take care of my vehicles.
  5. I think if I am going through that much oil then there is a bigger problem with my engine. A warning light should come on before you are close to doing damage. I don't know too many drivers with newer vehicles that have to check their oil that often. If this is a continuing problem I am going to get rid of the vehicle. I wonder what service will say. I only had 2.5k on the oil and I was already down 2.5q, that's a quart every 1000m. A warning light should come once it is outside of the SAFE operating range otherwise there is no reason to have the light other than to tell the owner you just killed your engine... right?
  6. I have a 2010 Journey R/T AWD, 3.5, roughly 19k miles on it. The other week I was driving it I thought the engine was running rough and it smelled a little hot. The temp gauge was in the normal range. So I checked the engine oil because the EVIC system threw an oil change required message, but I was still 500 miles from my next change which I do every 3000. Well the stick was almost bone dry. It might have had a drop on the very tip of the stick. I added a quart and that at least got me to the low end of the SAFE range on the stick. I can handle it if the engine uses a little oil, but what concerns me is how low it was and NO LIGHT on the dash ever indicated it was well below the SAFE operating range. Has this happened to anyone else?
  7. All I had to do was connect the UIC to port in the glovebox and then connect my iPod to the other end. I have the 430 radio (touchscreen, no nav). Does your radio have a media button? You have to be in the proper mode for the radio controls to access the iPod. I had a 2002 Stratus that had a radio/cassette/CD that could supposedly control the iPod if you connected the proper cable. IOW, I have a hard time believing that 8 years later that even the most basic Chrysler radio can't interface with the iPod. I need to look again but I think I needed to do an additional setup in the AUX mode so the radio knew it was interfacing with an iPod.
  8. Well, heading out of town on Thanksgiving I put my Journey into a low snowbank on a residential street. I came up over a bridge and there was a stop sign at the bottom. I had decent spacing between me and the car in front of me. I was probably going about 10 to 12mph and those Kumho tires wouldn't get enough traction in the new snowfall. It was either rearend the car (it had to wait because a car was turning in front of them from another side street) or put the car up on the curb in the low ice/snowbank. Well I cracked the low hung molding under front bumper hitting the ice. I hate those Kumho tires. I had the same type on my Stratus. They are useless on the snow. Does any one know the price of that molding piece? Thankfully with the rest of our journey went okay, but I am still PO'd I put my two month old Journey in the snowbank. I don't feel like I was traveling too fast for conditions. BTW, this is a 2010 Journey R/T AWD.
  9. Has anyone ever got an answer/resolution to this shudder/vibration at cruising speed 60+mph. I just bought a 2010 Journey R/T AWD over the weekend. The second day I was driving it, I definitely felt the shudder/vibration at highway speeds on relatively good roads. Heck I don't even have 200miles on this thing yet. I just have got a bad feeling about this vehicle already. I am taking it into the dealer tomorrow, but they are already being pricks with me since I canceled the 3rd party POS Zurich Extended Warranty. I thought I was dealing on a Dodge warranty then when I was closing they give me the Zurich paperwork.
