  1. i have the kicker replacements in my '07 Wrangler. Based on the Ininity system in my Wrangler... they definitely improve the midrange and the highs are a little brighter. (not harsh) As for bass response... no. The difference is very noticable, but it is not a miracle cure. Many others (in the jeeps) have had great experience with the aftermarket Infinity speakers and they love the results they got. Its a little out of my price range. I also replaced the factory Infinity sub with a 10" kenwood sub running at roughly 150 watts. still running the stock amp. some others have had less than wonderous experience with the replacement amps. those with an extra $500 in their pocket are springing for one of the compact 5ch amps on the market and replacing the factory amp all together.
  2. just out of curiosity.... is this problem specific to the alpine system, or the "base" system, too?
  3. the Mygig is the older stereo system and is easily upgraded. make for SURE that you have the proper radio. they come in high speed and low speed bus. it should plug-n-play same as your non-nav Mygig. what you MAY need is a gps antenna kit. Mopar used to sell one for the wrangler... should be about the same for the journey. if the Navigation gets its signal from the same antenna as the satelite radio, you wont have to change anything. IF....... wouldnt mind having a mygig for my wrangler.... but i'd dirt-broke.
  4. the playlist option selects my playlists on my ipod touch.
  5. reading some of this is just sad.... we got a 2011 with the 8.4 Uconnect system. the frequency range is phenomenal. bass response is excellent. yes, its smaller speakers, so they dont have the kick, but the SOUND is there. i listen to all sorts of music and it is all excellent. even my old Techmaster PEB stuff. I may try to add a sub later on, but for now, the sound quality is astounding. if the alpine system was supposed to be better, I'm glad i didnt get it.
  6. Male-38. wife is 37. 2 kids for now... one is 16, the other is almost 8 months. I'm a Jeep fanatic (own a '07 JK-U Rubicon) the wife is currently unemployed. Due to the baby... the wife (sadly) traded her 2010 Challenger SE for our 2011 Journey. as for career field... lets just say... i'm "that guy" you never want to see in the rear view mirror.
  7. That is the very reason why, at the beginning of our shift, if someone makes some remark as to how nice the day is or has been... they are usually the recipient of some scolding comments... and often enough the butt of the jokes (literal and practical) all day/night. Never stop counting the blessings, though.
  8. According to some recent reading in a Dodge "advertisement", Ralph Giles is quoted as commenting on the lower power ratings on various vehicles with the 3.6 engine. One in particular was the Avenger, reportedly due to "unique restrictions from the front wheel drive". The Caravan and the Journey have the same power ratings as well. The Charger has 292hp and the Challenger is the only Dodge to have 305hp from the Pentastar, in order to compete with the other "Hussle Cars". One thing i did notice last night is that his is the first vehicle i have seen that really has a true cold air intake... the intake pulls from the hood and grill gap right at the front. interesting... now i wonder if there is any other "restriction" that can be cleaned up, removed or "adjusted" in order to help. as stated, though. tuning with a programmer is key with these electronic engines. I'm short the $400 to get one, though... lol edit: Diablo Sport doesnt have a tuner for the Journey.
  9. One thing with all-electronic cars is that if the battery drops below required voltage, weird stuff happens. i drive a 2008 expedition at work. nearly every time i've ever had to jump it off, "some" of the items in the truck refuse to work until i restart it with normal voltage.
  10. Thanks for including some pictures. We just got our 2011 Friday. The tow hitch was one of the things I'll hopefully get for it in the future.
  11. i have the same issue. told mine to go to "octane". it confirmed by repeating "octane"... then tuned up a religeoud channel. lol...
  12. Just joining in here. The wife and I just traded a 2010 Challenger SE for the 2011 Journey. Yes.... There have been many open-mouth-responses to this. Lets just say that the wife was a little tired of having to drive my Jeep everywhere when she had the baby with her. So... we had to let her (beautiful) Challenger go. so.. from this: to this: 2011 Blackberry with 8.4 Uconnect... blah-blah-283hp.... looking forward to looking around and learning what i can fiddle with on this little booger.... as I have a history of not leaving things alone.
