  1. Good lord, same thing on mine. Same issue as Olaf explained, one day it was black with "check surroundings", worked fine after that but then got progressively worse until it pooched out all together. First time I brought it in they replaced a module in the cabin area, that did not work so they ordered a whole new NAV unit. That did not work either so they ordered a new cam. Still waiting to see if that does it. Love the vehicle but between the electronics and the brakes it's starting to lose it's appeal to me. In hindsight I recall closing the hatch the day I bought it from the dealer when I got home and one of the pumps came free causing the hatch not to close, I popped it back in and it closed fine but maybe that was a sign of potential issues to come. I noticed a couple panels not aligning properly at the tail lamps but I'll put that in another post. Some bad mojo or something.
  2. Just a quick follow up to my experience with replacing the rotors last week. 1) I gave my dealer heat about the warped rotors, they said "sorry, just over 12 months, no way should they be warped but we cant help, call Dodge" 2) Rather than call the number they gave me I used the CONTACT US number from the Dodge website, sub link was "Customer Service". 3) They heard me out and gave me a case number (I was very polite). They promised to call me within 24 hours. 4) Next day they called and said "the dealer can help you at their discretion now". Long story short there is a new program as of July where Dodge will cover brake costs from the dealer on these issues. 5) Customer Service Manager at the dealer called Dodge and confirmed the process. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer. 6) Dealer has a procedure to follow, machine the rotors to true them if possible, replace if necessary. Part number on replacement rotors has changed, no one knows what the differences are. In my case I ended with new rotors and pads since their wasn't enough meat on the rotors (15 months of mild rural & city driving). My problem took one week and three phone calls to fix. Maybe this is due to a good dealer or maybe its the new brake program, not sure. Brakes are as smooth as can be now. Hope this helps at least one person.
  3. I noticed my brakes squealing like a stuck pig last year when it was new but it quickly went away when winter came. Now over the last couple of weeks I've been getting the rougher braking at higher speeds. Not even 20K miles and warped rotors like the rest of the group. Too many of these complaints to count online too. My dealer said to call the customer service line to complain and try and get them covered. Think it's time to go on a rampage online and make waves. If I have to pay for brakes out of pocket based on poor manufacturing I'm going to make sure I dent some new car sales. Domain names are cheap and it's easy enough to make a quick website with links to all of the complaints. Not something I'd want hanging out there if I was the manufacturer. tons of domains available; DodgeJourneySucks DontBuyaJourney JourneyBadBrakes Looks like National Highway & Safety has a website that tracks complaints. I'll definitely add mine after work since you need your VIN. (www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/index.cfm) .....Squeakiest wheel gets the grease.
  4. The brakes on my '11 seem good with a blend of city and freeway driving. What I find annoying is that in warmer weather there is an ear piercing siren like sound when I idle around parking lots at super slow speeds and just slightly use the brakes. Annoying, going to have to check them out and see what's wrong with them on a cooler day.
  5. Sure generaltso, I was digging the Sirius XM while I had it, think it was the highest package less the Internet. When it expired I called and they asked my to bend over while they took my wallet. Needless to say I declined renewal and let it slide. All of my memories got blanked and they only let me have 0 and like 186 for channels, couldn't tune anything in. Over the next few days I noticed my system beeping when a favorite came on, I'd switch from FM to SAT and would be able to tune to the channel with my favorite on it. I re-locked all my favorite channels into memory during the next week or two when songs and programs came back on. Been running fine for the last 2 to 3 months, completely expired. Downside is that I only get station numbers, names are all scrambled, all song and program info is perfect though, just waiting for NFL to come back into season so I can get those channels back. Last low side is you only get as many stations back as you can fit on the memory spots. So truthfully I could break down and pick 50 channels in the A La Carte package for $7.99/mo and use my 50% off coupon for a whopping $4/month. We'll see how much longer I can go on the 16 or so stations in memory now. -jerkface
  6. Popped into this thread just hoping to find out if the software can be hacked up a bit on the 8.4 as I am more impressed with the 2012 version than my 2011 version. Sadly I read all about folks having problems with bluetooth, characters not displaying and not starting properly. Who knew bluetooth was even an option, with all of those ad campaigns about the Jeep being reinvented I would have assumed the Journey got some love too. I bought the 2011 LUX loaded with everything just because it looked to have more technology than all of the other offerings available. My bluetooth and radio sucked for the first few months, had the dealer do some updates last winter and it fixed all my trouble. My phones quit dropping connections, sound quality is great, passengers in back seat can participate in calls. My voice commands work way better to change stations now. All the text displays on my songs and stations, including the big logos on the shortcuts. The screen and steering wheel are able to control the pandora and other audio apps on my phones via bluetooth, even parts of the Netflix apps on our iPods and iPads. **** Note: anyone that is in trial with their Sirius subscription, mark your favorite programs and artists, fill the list full. It will keep you from having to buy the subscription when it expires. Sorry to hear about all the frustration for others. If anyone has modded one of these (like rooting a droid phone) I'd love to hear about it. Or even if anyone has bypassed the speed sensor for the video system. -jerk
  7. I agree with Windancer, I got 19"s on my 2011, only because they were the biggest they could come up with. Sorry I ever did that too, threw a tire in a contruction zone and it took me 4 days through a holiday weekend to get a replacement. Thinking about bumping out an inch if possible just so I can get rid of the forsaken Kumho size. Shame, it rides and handles nice but it's not readily available through local retail anywhere. Lack of planning on Chrysler's part. my 2 pieces o' copper
  8. Boy I feel a little lucky after reading some of these issues. I got the 2011 Journey about 5-6 weeks ago and didn't have any problems with the NAV service. The Travel link service works great on the free one year subscription. I didn't spend anytime messing with the traffic link but the travel link is the bomb. All of the weather, gas station prices and theater info is spot on. The map is quick and has all of the newer roads in my area. I loved the junk box in Subaru but dread taking that car now when I need the NAV and SAT. The only thing I don't like about the NAV in the Journey is the horrible voice it uses. My Subaru has a few different voices and accents that blow it away. A close second would be the voice commands, they seem to work but the system sometimes takes me to the wrong SAT station even though it repeats it back properly. I also like the idea of it automatically being updated anytime I go for service or an oil change, beats pumping discs around. I'm going to check out the traffic link and see if that works on the free year service. Now if anyone uses the text messages to speech feature, that would be invaluable as I cannot even find a single approved phone by Dodge. How can you have a feature then not a single phone approved for use, seems they should have not added it until the next update if they aren't ready. -Jerkface
