  1. FINAL FIX- found #2 cylinder intake valve rocker arm roller damaged. Up and down movement on roller axle pin.Only one of the 2 intake rocker arms had play but I changed both intake rockers for #2 cylinder just in case. Bought 2 new roller rockers from local dodge dealership ($20/unit CAD). . Removed, checked and reinstalled all other rollers of rocker arms of both intake and exhaust cams on this head, no play found. Intake seals replaced during reassembly. NOTE- previously found oil wetted intake runners were much cleaner/drier since I had replaced the original ( 126,000kms) PCV valve. I strongly recommend changing PCV valve as per maintenance schedule of 96,000kms. On start up engine vibration/ rough idle was non existant. Cleared engine code, went for a drive , all good. Hope all this has helped as all previous posts ffrom other members have helped me diagnos and fix this issue. I have filed my VIN with class action law suit in Canada against FCA ( Fiat Chrysler Canada) for this manufacturing failure. Feel free to ask any questions about this issue and I will try to help.
  2. UPdate- I have swapped #2 and #1 coil packs and also spark plugs to see if code changes to #1 cylinder. While having the inatke manifold out and laying on workbench there was a significant amount of engine oil coming out of the #1 and #2 cylinder runners. Did niot expect to see this. Cleaned out manifold as much as possible. PCV valve replaced as possible reason for excessive oil in manifold.Perfromed leak down test of #2 cylinder at 80 PSI. #2 cylinder held 80 psi , no difference in pressure values. So no head damage on valves or piston rings. Reasembled, erased code P0302, engine started and idled for 2 minutes, rough idle but no engine check light, drove for 20 miles at highway speeds no code. Next day on cold start idled for 1 minute and engine light came on, checked code, again P0302. Will be changing #2 cylinder rocker arms, any rockers with loose lifter rollers. Will update when completed.
  3. Thank you for the response. That is lousy news! I just didi a scan of the fuel trims long and short terms for bank 1 and 2. there are significant differences for the long term between bank 1 ( far lower) and bank 2. NOt sure how to interpret this. Can anyone help? 2015 Dodge Journey 3.6 bank 1 and 2 fuel trims short and long terms.pdf
  4. Hi tsteves5, Whaht was the final fix to your engine issue with pressure leak in #3 cylinder?
  5. The engine sounds normal. ( like sewing machine) I can hear the injectors cycling. All shops are wanting to go directly to repalcing rocker arms with no troubleshooting, like leak down test, coil pack ohms test. Maybe I will start with changing the intake manifold seals myself and swapping coil pack from #2 to #1 and then check again if misfire has moved. I think I can change #1 coil pack location without removing intake again if misfire code moves to #1 cylinder. ( P0301)
  6. Hi, I am having identical issues, as listed on forums, for my 2015 journey 3.6 with 78,000 miles . P0302 code only Rough idle at stop/very low speed but no rpm fluctuations at any higher driving speeds. . Code P0302 will not show up once cleared when I am driving at speeds over 1200 RPM (45-90 MPH) in 6th gear but code shows up again at slow/idling speeds in parking lots or idling at signal light. All plugs and #2 coil pack replaced, code cleared, no change, code P0302 after 2 miles of slow driving. Have owned since new, filter and oil changed with 5W20 Castrol every 5000miles. Car does alot of short distance driving , less than 5 miles about 12 times per week with a few 16 mile highway trips in between. No coolant temp issues as per the coolant temp guage. I have NOT changed the PCV valve so maybe oil contamination in intake but that should affect all cylinders not just the #2. No mechanical noises obvious from engine. Scan tool shows all injectors are within range and similar to each other. The transmission shifts harder than when new, I did have the trans oil flushed/replaced with new oil but it was all models trans oil from NAPA.done approx 10,000 miles ago. Filter was not changed, I was told there is no filter for this trans by shop, not a dealership shop. Some comments online about TCC solenoid causing issues at idle due to not unloadin Tq converter causing idle issues. Is the EGR not functioning correctly possibly causing this P0302 code due to vacuum leak? I would think all cylinders would be affected if EGR. Also some talk of CPS causing issues. Have gone to local Chrysler dealership and explained the issues and what has been doen so far to mechanial foreman. His immediate reaction is that the rockers need to be replaced liekly due to damaged needle bearings in the roller rocker causing exessive play. Fix estimate $1200-1500 depending on damage found on other rockers and possibly cam. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
