  1. Looked at the intake tube, saw what looked like small punctures. Swapped that and swapped the original intake on with the new gasket. No more codes. Also swapped the tuning valve back to the original intake. Not sure why that code decided to pop up with it in the other intake.
  2. I'll swap the other alternator on, fix the ground to the mount, and swap the intake tube. Intake gasket is new.
  3. 09 sxt 3.5 140k swapped engine with 120ish Trying to figure out a misfire/flickering light issue, and when I was under the car noticed a leak on the driver side front near the radiator drain petcock, a few inches or so up. There are two metal lines about 3/8" diameter. Look like they might go into a radiator type cooler. I can pull on the lines and make them move forward and back (relative to the vehicle). Not sure if they're missing a mount/bracket, are actually sliding in and out of where they go, or what. Tight spot to see. Couldn't really smell the fluid, but pretty sure it was oil, possibly power steering fluid. I'll post pics when Im able. Any direction right now would help.
  4. Checked and cleaned connections at alternator, positive leads on firewall driverside, grounds on firewall at the same spot. 2 things that are different from stock, there's a ground strap on pass side that connect to the top engine mount. It's a braided line that is pushed onto a knub of the mount. This broke and I crimped an eyelet on the end and bolted it to timing cover. Any possible issues with this? Second, there's a ground lead off the engine harness, on the starter lead/plug end of the harness. I believe this was bolted through one of the trans to eng block bolts, been a while so possibly not, I relocated to a bolt that goes through the trans housing to starter mount. I don't think this would cause any concerns as it's still grounding the trans/block but wanted to include as much information as I have. New update on misfire - still have a cyl 1 misfire. This is not the original engine as stated. But I used the original intake. Figured it might be cracked or damaged so I swapped on the other intake. Got a code for the tuning valve for bank 1. Swapped tuning valve from original intake and ended up with a miscommunication code for the tuning valve. First one was a p06xx new/current is a p1005? I believe. Which is odd to me. I'll sometimes get a multiple misfire code as well. Possibly unrelated, but I've had issues with other vehicles missing and having flickering lights/weird idles.
  5. I've searched but haven't found much info. I've seen wiring harnesses that connect inside the tail lights and such, as well as issues other have had. 1) if I have a connector under the vehicle,.where would it be and how much? Saw a post of '16 that had one. 2) seen some posts on needing to reflash the computer to use trailer lights, any info on this for my vehicle? 3) any issues with using led brake lights and/or trailer lights?
  6. Still have a misfire code. Have swapped injectors, coil, new plug. No longer have an O2 code. Got a multiple random misfire code after swapping the intake and new gasket. Possibly due to new code for bank 1 (firewall side) tuning valve. Swapped out tuning valve from original intake and now have p1005. Thinking I pinched a wire from harness under intake. Will have to remove and see. Going to over lay wires from injector and coil for cyl 1.
  7. Misfire code came back so that's neat. But looking around seems the intake itself could be bad or I saw that a short in a wire above the drivers sun visor can cause the code some how. Thoughts? In the next couple days I'll swap the actuator back to the original intake and swap that on with the new gasket and see if it's still and issue.
  8. 2009 sxt. Recently swapped in a 3.5l as my 3.5l had issues. Had a #1 misfire and o2 code. Replaced o2 sensor, plug, injector, and coil. Recently checked and only had the misfire for #1 and random misfires code. This info is just in case it's related, though unlikely. So at this point I was using the intake from original engine. Other one was dirty. Thought a crack or other issue causing misfire. So I swapped donor engine intake on and replaced the gasket. Got a code for bank 1 tuning valve. P06xx code. Swapped tuning valve in rear of intake with the one on the intake I took off. Now I have the p1005 code. No misfire code as of yet. Ideas?
  9. 09 sxt 130k 2wd Did and engine swap. Got a cyl 1 misfire and o2 dtc. May be related. But I've noticed my dash lights flicker as do my headlights. First thought is a ground or alternator. Unless the misfire is causing it. Where would I begin to diagnose this? Engine harness grounds are good as I cleaned them prior to install after the engine swap. Other grounds to check? Other wiring to check?
  10. 2009 3.5 fwd Are there any springs that swap into the journeys rear that hold more weight? Airbags would be nice if someone has a DIY for a cheaper airbag setup, but if not springs are usually a cheaper option.
  11. So 4 o2 sensors on this vehicle. Both sensor 1s are right after the manifold, and sensor 2 is on the cat I believe. Replaced the firewall side sensor on the cat. Fixed an exhaust leak after where the two cats connect to the rest of the exhaust. Swapped the plug and coil out on cyl 1. The car was saying I was getting 12-13 city prior and now says 17. So improvement but still have both codes showing. Erased them last night so I'll see if it comes back today.
  12. 09 journey 3.5 115k miles Just swapped in a used engine. O2 sensor code before and after. Misfire code not sure. Getting 15mpg city driving. 18-19 hwy. I believe the bank 1/ sensor 2 is the O2 sensor nearest the firewall on the cat correct? I've swapped a used one in but same code so bought a new one. Anyone know what the pins should read to rule out a wiring issue? As for the misfire I added it here just in case it's related, but I'll be checking power to the injector, swapping injectors, etc. to diag.
  13. Removed the head and there was decent pitting around that water passage and another. Replaced the head gasket and bolts, and so far no leaking! Worst two months ever haha. Seems this engine was sitting sometime and theres a decent amount of gunk and rust in the passages. Any preferences on what cleaner/chemical to use for flushing all my coolant passages/radiator?
  14. Well here's one for the books. Removed head. This is the engine o swapped in. Who knows how long it sat. Coolant passages had rust corrosion goop build up. Looks like it damaged the gasket right at that corner. Could be warped, likely not, but I'm gonna bring it in to be checked because I'm not taking this engine apart for the....8th time?
  15. Ok so get this, best I can pin point it with timing cover off, it's coming from where the head meets the block. Used my finger to try and disrupt flow. Wtf. No issues coming with a blown head gasket, tight spot but I don't see cracks... Going to tighten the head bolts a bit and see what's up. I'm open to suggestions. Pic is from front passenger corner looking down. It's right where the head gasket sticks out.
