  1. Sorry for the delay! I checked the dimmer switch and *of course* it is perfect again. Honestly, I must be dumb. I didn't even realize there was a dimmer switch there, or that it controlled the screen.
  2. I have a very strange problem with my Backup Camera / UConnect screen. One day, I noticed that when reversing out of my garage the backup camera was just black, on closer inspection, I realized it was on, but just dimmed, very dimmed. In fact, if I were to shift into park, the entire UConnect screen is dim. I can fix this easily by just turning off the headlights. I don't know what setting changed, but I do know that the light sensor that decides when auto-headlights need to be on, they are on, and the screen dimms accordingly. I can't understand why it's dimming so much. Is there a dimmer somewhere for this? I am finding myself turning off my headlights if it's raining during the day, because I can't see my screen at all. (Side note, why is this tied to headlights being on instead of just the brightness sensor itself? I need to use lights in the rain, but that doesn't mean it's dark...) This wasn't always a problem, I've had the vehicle for 4 years now, and this has just popped up over the past 2 months. I can get around the problem by choosing not to switch between day and night brightness, but I need night brightness at night, or the screen is way too bright. Side comment... Why doesn't the NAV dim with the rest of the display? The Nav is hard set to use either night or day colors, and it never switches over automatically. Is my UConnect just messed up? I've had to replace my radio 4 times due to the very common "Maps won't load" issue, is this something similar? Thanks to anyone who replies!
  3. I've replaced my radio 4 times so far for this issue. I'm guessing a lot of people simply don't use navigation, either that or when you get your radio swapped, you get it swapped with some "refurbished" unit, that simply breaks again after a few months. "Refurbished" in quotes because what I am guessing is happening, is that they just keep putting the corrupted file back on the radio, and saying it's new, even though the memory module is somehow defective. It's like if your hard drive gets corrupted, and instead of replacing it, you just install everything back on it and hope it's fine now.
  4. Due to the maps issue, I'll be getting my 4th radio as soon as the Dealership finally get it in. They decided I had to get it replaced about 4 weeks ago... Love shipping in Canada. 6 to 12 business weeks for anything. Is there any way for me to do a full backup of my system, including maps, for a year from now when this happens again?
  5. Another idea... if I buy these maps: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/33379 Using the garmindevice.xml file from my Journey (obtained here): http://chryslergroup.navigation.com/web/WFS/Shop-ChryslerNA-Site/en_US/-/USD/NVT_ViewGarminMediaType-ProcessMediaType Follow the "Garmin Cloning Method" for installing maps to an USB Drive instead of your device (which people do because they notoriously brick themselves during this process): http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39231 Then, take the USB Drive I performed the "update" on, and use it to update/fix my maps. If the above method works, it would be a great way to stay up-to-date, beyond keeping the GPS functional. What I don't understand is why I can't get the maps from Chrysler for free, seeing that they were pre-loaded with my vehicle... and my vehicle conveniently deletes/corrupts them constantly. Would it really be a licensing issue if they just gave me the maps I got with my vehicle in the first place?
  6. I am typically reasonable at Google-Fu, but this is a bit beyond... The search suggestions give me like... 5 results, and they all just contain dead links. Does anyone have like... a dropbox or gdrive, or maybe just send me whatever link they used? I've had this fixed by the dealer once already (swapped radio) and this is really killing me. Every year I have to swap the radio... Why couldn't the dealer just provide the DVD with the files when they realised it was going to be an issue like this? I mean, presumably I paid for these maps when I originally purchased the vehicle, I don't see why I have to pay $150 every year.'' I'd love to give this a shot if it means I don't have to get this to the dealer, swap out car seats for the baby, etc... Last time I went to the dealer I got "valet service", and they scraped up my bumper, then blamed it on me... such a nuisance.
