  1. Thanks Camper. I did wind up purchasing the Proline with European bundle. I've used it a handful of times on my own vehicles already and also have used it a few times for other people at $80/pop to turn stuff on and off. My next door neighbor is a Mercedes guy/a&m graduate/tinkerer and he's all but paid for the european bundle since he now no longer needs to bring his two mercedes to a dealer for troubleshooting issues. At some point it will pay for itself but for me, it's simply the satisfaction of not having to be at the mercy of the Dodge/Chrysler service shops.

  2. comon down dhh3.

Funny this comes back up because after a really direct and not so polite (wasn't rude) email to FCA back in early December I received a phone call from someone named Jody today who apologized profusely for not answering the email sooner but the end result of the conversation was they don't have a fix. I told her to have her FCA developers contact Bill @ Auto Enginuity as they might be able to teach your people a thing or two. :)

  3. if he doesn't believe you, tell him to call Brian in the service department at Northwest Dodge here in Houston who took all of about 15 minutes to call me back with the exact part number for the switch and sensor.

Cause I mean that's what most of these service advisors think; customers are idiots and know nothing yet there are a lot of us that could possibly run circles around their best techs.

  4. interesting thing happened last night with the AE tool and my 300s. Wanted to see if the heated steering wheel option was available. sure nuff.. So I enabled it, backed out of everything, wife called me off for something else and never went back to it. This morning as I get in the car, I'm thinking man this seat sure is cold. It's set to warm itself with a remote start.

Turns out enabling the heated steering wheel option disabled my heated seats so I sat there for 20 minutes this morning jacking with that. I do know there's another option buried deeper in the menu for heated steering wheel so I'll fool with that later.

This AE device is pretty sweet. Here's some screen shots of the Journey headlamp activation sequence.

  5. The sales code is LMG and yes you're correct - it disappeared per another online Mopar Tech I was talking to.

This AE tool, lists all the control modules, I just have to figure out which one contains the auto headlights. hopefully I'll get into that part of it this evening when I get home.

  6. yeah that's the stock part # for what's already there.

I plugged up the AE tool, got everything activated, played around for a few minutes with it but had to run out with the wife for a few minutes that turned into 4+ hours so didn't get anything done with that. I'll fool with it a little later this evening again.

I'll take some pics of the screens so you guys can see this thing, it's pretty damn cool what it can do and test in many of the body, steering, dash, etc. modules in the car.

  7. I am curious how you will do this as Chrysler has removed the code for auto headlights.

Again: do your headlights work normal in the other positions? You said that they came on as soon as you started it: was the light switch in auto position? I want to go ahead and install the switch when it comes today, along with the sensor, but not if the headlights will always be on.

according to AE, you don't need those Chrysler Codes. We'll see....

sorry thought I answered that for you already...

    switch in auto position

turn car on, lights come on and stay on

turn car off, lights go off with the exit delay

switch in normal off position - functions just like yours does now.

So you can put it in, but if you want your headlights to stay off until you're ready to turn them on then you'll need to have it in the normal off position.

  8. oh.. i didn't pay anywhere near $37k either. More in the range of $28k

    so did a little investigating.

the stock sensor part # 68230113AB is a 3 pin sensor and obviously only for HVAC

the sensor I replaced it with is 68230114AB and is a 4 pin sensor so it's for light/HVAC

to further that, I went and pulled the sensor from the dash of my 2016 300s and it's the same 68230114AB part #

Also same color wires on the 4 pin harness as what's in the journey.

  9. so went by the dealer this morning and guess what. they hadn't a clue how to turn the auto headlights on. Looked up part #s, said they were correct and installed correctly but they could not find auto headlamp option anywhere in the system. I asked if I could go back and have a look since I'm vaguely familiar with the starscan tool, 26 years IT, and very familiar with programming HD ECMs; nope.. wouldn't have anything of it; territorial thing I guess. They sent an email to Mopar with all the particulars to find out what the deal is. In the mean time, with the discovered incompetency level within service at the dealer on my very first visit, the AutoEnginuity piece is looking more and more appealing. If I don't get some sort of positive response this week I'll but the AE piece and hope it works as described.

  10. Did the stock harness just plug into the new sensor? Did the stock harness plug into the new switch? Does the Dealer programming make the "auto" function work properly? Like I said, there is a wire hanging down from the top of the dash to behind the radio. No one seems to know what it is. You mentioned a wire taped to the steering column. Did you have to use it? If so, where did you plug it in? Does a harness (wire) have to go between the new switch and the new sensor?

I'll get my trailer lights and auto lights turned on at the same time, if I can get this to work.

Thank you for all your effort.

stock harness that was already plugged into the old sensor plugged right into the new sensor - no mods whatsoever

stock harness that was plugged into old headlight switch plugged right into the new switch - no mods whatsoever

dealer programming - I don't know yet. haven't been by there yet

look at the wiring colors, number of pins and compare it to the pic I posted above - if it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, walks like a duck - it's probably a duck. :-)

steering column wiring - this is what I was told was the location of the wiring harness for those that did not have the sensor installed. Mine had the sensor installed so didn't have to take anything else apart or run other wires.

in between wire harness - nope not that I'm aware of.

trailer lights? you really have to go to the dealer to have the trailer lights turned on as an option?

I contacted my sales lady, she's taking care of getting them to flip the switch on the auto headlights. I'll go by there either late tomorrow afternoon or Friday afternoon. I'll certainly let you know
