  1. psgoe the dealer just scammed you. This issue is so old and has affected so many people that they know they cannot do a software fix and they have to replace the unit. This is such a massive issue that they should replace the unit for free. I would suggest writing a letter or calling customer care at FCA to try and get this resolved. If you cannot get satisfaction then maybe go to your local news station to bring this massive issue to light. Good luck.
  2. I have had the 2014 DJ and had units replaced to no avail. Can't unlock maps comes back. Leased a 2016 DJ and today can't unlock maps. This is a DJ issue and the only way it will go away is when they end production of the DJ. Thank god as this issue has been a pain in the butt for many people. Sad thing is this is going on years as an issue. There is no easy fix and as a consumer we should not have to jump through hoops downloading files from the internet in an attempt to fix this issue that will just keep coming back. I would never in my life ever purchase a DJ because of this issue and the dealers attitude towards the repairs on them. If you are thinking about buying a DJ don't walk away run. Terrible system and terrible PR on Chrysler's end.
  3. Here is the standard operating procedure for Can't Unlock Maps. Take time out of your busy day and take vehicle to dealer, they charge Chrysler 2 Hours saying that they tried to update maps (even though they know this does not work), tell you that they need to order a new unit and you have to take it back to get this re-furbed unit that will fail again. You cannot simply load the maps because the hard drive in the unit has gone bad hence the reason you have to get a re-furbed one. Been through this debacle as well as many other people. Lifetime warranty comes with a lifetime of hassles every time this unit fails. I would never get the NAV unit on a Chrysler vehicle.
  4. I believe that the people on this site represent just a few of the people whose radios actually failed. In talking with people who have this problem, many thought it was connected to the fact that they did not renew their Sirius subscription so they thought nothing was wrong. Although FCA now extended the warranty on these units they did not go far enough. The warranty should be for a lifetime.
  5. Some say that the few people who are complaining are not the majority however, the truth is very few people attend these forums and believe me there are many, many more people that have issues with these units. THese units are complete garbage and should be recalled and replaced with a different manufacturer. I for one will not go through a 6 week ordeal to get this unit replaced. I will turn in my lease with a defective unit and let them deal with it. I will say that I will never get another vehicle with a navigation system as I have seen far too many people at work with bad units for this to be a minority problem. Good luck to everyone who has one of these without a lifetime warranty on it. GARBAGE, GARBAGE, GARBAGE. Might want to note that the quality ay Chrysler has slipped since Fiat and their wonderful WCM entered the scene.
  6. Oh and I agree that everyone should get the extended warranty on any Chrysler / Fiat product they purchase. Technology is here to stay but purchasing inferior products to save a dime is what has gotten Chrysler in trouble.
  7. Funny that you say it is only on a minority of radios, 2 in 1 year on mine and when I mentioned it to a fellow worker today he said that his says the same thing but thought it was because he did not renew his Sirius. This is not a small issue and it is a huge inconvienance. Chrysler quality has gone down the tubes since Fix It Again Tony got control and will not improve until Marchione and this WCM (Wasting Chrysler's Money) is gone.
  8. 2014 Journey, 11K miles replaced unit 11 months ago and shot again. Big hassle first time at dealer. Took it in and had to make an appointment two weeks out to get it checked out. 2 weeks. Seriously. Took it in, they charged chrysler 2 hours to try and update maps when they know what the issue is. Got the car back next day and was told they had to order unit. 5 weeks later had to take car back in to get unit installed. Now unit shot again. I will wait and let them fix it when I turn the car in 8 months from now. I will not go through the hassle at the dealer again. These units should all be recalled and replaced.
