  1. Thanks, sorry for the slow response, I guess I did not get an email notification when you posted (just turned on "Notify me of replies":-). There is about 75 lbs of pressure (low and high side since compressor/clutch won't engage, not sure if that is enough to engage the clutch?). What I have tried so far is check signal from the TIPM at the clutch pigtail and received no power when I turned the AC on. To add to the confusion I have also attempted to put 12 volts directly to the clutch and it still did not engage, to be fair though it was hard to be sure I had a good connection at the pigtail. Next steps I am going to try is by a new pigtail (if I can find one) and plug it directly into the clutch to verify 12 volts and see if the clutch engages. I also have a new foxwell code reader on order that supposedly will allow me to send a signal to the clutch and see if it engages. Still open to suggestions or if anyone knows if 75 lbs is enough to allow the clutch to engage that would be helpful. At this point I don't know if it is too low on freon (R134A :-), bad clutch, bad transponder (I think that is what Dodge is calling the low pressure switch, 3 wire and apparently can't be jumped?) or bad signal from TIPM. Also was not able to find a clutch relay in the TIPM, could it be somewhere else? Some seem to suggest TIPM controls clutch directly with no relay or it uses an internal relay, not sure that is the case though.
  2. I need to add some freon to my 09 Journey but can't figure out how to get the clutch on the compressor to engage so I can charge it (I let it get too low). Normally I would just bypass the low pressure switch but not sure that is the correct way on this vehicle?
  3. We are thinking alike, I imaging it can be taken apart and fixed and was hoping to find someone that has done just that. If not I will do just that and post results :-). Thanks.
  4. Thanks but that looks like a small mounting bolt, I was talking about the whole assembly like at this link https://www.moparwholesaleparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-oil-filter-adapter-4892405ab?c=Zz0zLTVsLWdhcy1lbmdpbmUmcz1lbmdpbmUtb2lsLWNvb2xlciZsPTImbj1Bc3NlbWJsaWVzIFBhZ2UmYT1kb2RnZSZvPWpvdXJuZXkmeT0yMDA5JnQ9ci10JmU9My01bC12Ni1nYXM%3D Or better yet a way to fix the current assembly. Thanks again!
  5. I have 2 attached pick that shows where the leak is, it seems to be the big nut on the oil filter adapter leaking which is no longer available for my 09 Journey (3.5). Anyone no the best way to fix this leak? Thanks in advance.
  6. Just an update in case anyone else runs into this. I was brave enough to go to 19 ft lbs without any issue, just couldn't do the full 20 :-)..
  7. That's OK I am not going to call, I use to sell parts (although it was a long time ago) and that was never in the job description, that's what these forum's are for. LOL
  8. yeah I get it, I have replaced a lot of plugs on a lot of different vehicles and I believe I have a good feel (which is why the 20 ft lbs sounds like a lot, way past a good snug plug in my opinion). I guess the aluminum head that makes me nervous (its the only one I have had trouble with in the past). Having to take off the intake to get to them makes it a bit of a pain to do twice, also getting particular in my old age :-). I have seen calling the dealer for specs on other threads, I guess I am surprised they get an answer, also don't trust the dealer much. LOL If I do call the dealer who would you check with Parts or Service?
  9. Can anyone verify the spark plug torque for the 3.5 motor in the Journey's? Alldata and chiltons both say 20 ft lbs but that seems like way too much for an aluminum head. Anyone know for sure?
  10. I agree the Garmin is way better then the factory nav but for me it is because Garmin is much more user friendly . You said you did the $200.00 update did it change the GPS any (make it more user freindly) or did it just update the map? Sorry can't answer your question on the new Journeys. Thanks
  11. We just got back from a 3500 mile road trip from Austin, Texas to northern Utah with our Journey. I wanted to report that so far this has been a great vehicle (have the RT) and it handled wonderfuly driving through the Rocky Mountains, the auto stick works well going down hills, really did not have to use the brake at all if I didn't want to also plenty of power with the 3.5 on the way back up :-) Lets hope Chrysler makes it through this bankruptcy! Have fun.
  12. My understanding is if you use the power locks without the remote the alarm will be armed. I checked the manual and that is how I read it anyway.
  13. By buying an American car and extended warranty (knowing they could possibly go out of business) I know I did all I could to help the American automobile companies (didn'teven look at an import as I had no interest in one this time around). It amazes me how many americans seem to be looking forward to the demise of the american manufactures (Kill the unions or whatever they say), seems to me we need more unions as my job is killing me lol. I wasn't planning on buying a Chrysler product but the Journey had so many more features then other vehicles we looked at and the prices was great. There are a lot of Chrysler vehicles on the road, someone will be making parts for these cars for years to come.
  14. Ours has less then 1000 miles on it and we do sometimes smell something burning but it is on the outside of the car, doesn't smell that bad and doesn't last long. I am sure what we are smelling is just new vehicle smell.. So far love our Journey... Good luck..
