Carrying Ladder on OEM Cross Rails

I would use 2 or more ratcheting straps. Don't use bungy style cords. They won't be strong enough to hold it.

I agree. Bungee cords are dangerous. A friend of mine used bungee cords and one slipped out of his hands and he got a severe eye injury. Luckily he didn't lose his eye.

Anyway, need some advice on how best to tie it down securely. What are the best type of tie downs to use? Any learned lessons to pass on? New tie down products? I am using the OEM crossrails. Thanks in advance.

I have carried numerous items on my roof, ladders. windsurfers to kayaks. I would agree never use a bungie type of cord. In the past I have used straps with a proper clasp on them or as others have pointed out a ratcheting system.

I was very happy with my roof rack system, so much so I sold all my Thule Stuff
