Aquadobie12
As the title says my battery continues to drain. If it's fully charged and doesn't run it'll drain empty in 2 days or less. Put a new battery in in January, a new alternator in April. Problem has been the same since before both those changes. Volts when off are 12.7, doesn't change if I remove the power wire to the alternator as well as the connector to the voltage regulator. Now here's the weird part with everything hooked up and plugged in i disconnected the negative cable and hooked my multimeter to post and cable checking milliamps and started pulling fuses. Went through every fuse under the hood and glove box. Stayed around 39.8 MA except for on 2 different fuses (f103 rear power supply, and radio) the MA's increased to roughly 44 MA. so now I have no idea how that's even possible nor am I any closer to figuring out my problem. Any help?
John/Horace
Most common parasitic load is blue tooth module. Fuse called HFU in passenger side kick panel, leave out for a few days. There are guys that rebuild this expensive module when it won’t fully shut down. If it’s 44 milli amps that’s ok, 440 or almost half an amp is not. Keep fob remote away from vehicle when sitting, it can cause draw when close by vehicle.
tonline2002
I had the same problem. My wife's 2018 journey would drain. I had posted this same type of questions a few weeks back right as they were doing the system update and question got deleted. But anyway, I had unplugged the HFU fuse, and it stilled drained. I read on here or on face book, to check to see if the usb and aux ports stayed on after shutting the car off. They did unhooked them from the radio. Still drained. Now let me mention this part the radio was not turning off like it was suppose to even though i had the settings set to turn off soon as the car is off and the door is opened. We were turning it off manually just to make sure it turned off. If we forgot it would stay on for 1-2 minutes before it would go off. Also it would also take about 45 secs to a min to come on. So i decided to remove the radio fuse and see if it would still drain the power. Well it did not battery stayed charged. The only problem with that is that the radio also controls the ac system. So i decided to go ahead and change the radio. Because i knew going to a dodge dealership to have it looked at was going to cost. And lets be honest from all the problems with this exact problem you would think that they would have people that could tell you exactly what the problem is. But anyways i put in a aftermarket radio and its been good. Have not had to put the jump box on it. The radio cost less than $150. Everything was plug and play. The hardest part was the reverse cam. Which i did not mind because the little box up in the rear view mirror sucked. It controls the ac System. It had the controls all the setting like the lights staying on for a certain period of time. They even sent the pry tool to remove the trim. only other tool i use was a T8 bit for the screws. This is what i ordered off ebay. This is the seller. I messaged them to make sure that it was compatible with the vehicle they just asked me to take a picture of my dash and send it to them. They said it was and everything was plug and play. I will say that i did not hook back up the bluetooth fuse because this radio did not require it has its own bluetooth and i did not hook back up the usb and aux plug as we never used them. My wife loves it. Oh The other thing i loved about it. Is that it has the hook up to add a fwd camera (dash cam). I ordered one off amazon for $20. All i had to do was plug camera into usb that was provided and the software popped up and down loaded it and from there it was live and recording. Hope this helps and hope that you get it fixed.
