  1. Out today, radio on and using the navigation system when the radio just quite. No sound, but the display works on the 8.4 inch screen. tried am, fm and satt but no audio. Have not tried a CD yet. Oddly enough the turn by turn audio prompts on the NAV system is ok. I kind of lost count, but this is about the 3rd or 4th radio due to the navigation system, always replaced with a refurbished unit. Any ideas before I call the dealer later this week?
  2. Thanks for the info on the MSRP. I will make an offer at the dealer, see what they come back at and if they don't want to deal, try another dealer.
  3. Thanks for the information. I was quoted on the zero deductible plans, 5yrs/100,000 km, 6yrs/120,000 km and 7 yrs/160,000 km. All are bumper to bumper warranties, no oil changes or tire rotations etc. Are these warranties priced as per Chrysler or are they priced according to the dealers whims? What is a fair offer for the 7/160,000 plan if I try and negotiate?
  4. Looking for opinions from DJ owners (Canadian in particular) if its worth buying an extended warranty. My dealer is quoteing $1980 for an extra 2 years, $2895 for an extra 3 years and $3895 for an extra 4 years. I have had my 2014 Journey RT since Sept/14 with 21,300 KM after a year. This past spring I needed a new front wheel bearing and the radio replaced in Aug/14 (navigation unit pooped out). Of course both these repairs were covered by the standard 3 yr warranty. What are your experiences with the Chrysler extended warranty, what repairs have you had done? I have heard that the navigation unit is an issue and is known to fail. Mine was replaced with a refurbished unit. I imagine it would have been several hundred if I would have had to pay for it.
  5. How can I find out which software version for my radio/nav unit that I have and where do I find the latset version and how to install?
  6. Is it possible to purchase an extended warranty a year into ownership???
  7. Yea forgot to mention that when I had the radio replaced, the guy behind me in line at the service department in the dealership with another 2014 DJ R/T was there for the same issue, failed navigation unit. I commented to the service rep that I heard this was a common problem, all I got was a shrug. Anyone else out there have there radio replaced with a refurbished unit and are they still working?
  8. Bought in Sept 1014, my R/T now has 20,600 KM. Love my DJ, a pleasure to drive, but still getting used to its size and view for parking etc compared to my old Saturn. Power and reasonable fuel economy of the V6 as well as AWD last winter are the best. Very quiet ride, as compared to other test drives I took last Sept. Have had a few disappointing problems; Right front wheel bearing had to be replaced this past spring Navigation unit went down this summer, fixed by replacing the whole radio with a refurbished, not new, unit Of course both issues fixed under warranty, hopefully not an indication of future problems. Two trips with it from Ontario to PEI and back, great on the highway, plan to keep it for a long time (I am retiring in Jan/16 and there is no doubt this will be my last brand new car).
  9. Figured it out today. The trick is to turn up the radio volume while a turn voice prompt is announcing the next turn. This increases the turn prompt volume, but does not affect the radio volume. Who knew!!
  10. Used my 2014 Journey RT today with the 8.4N navigation unit. I could barely hear the turn by turn prompts, had to turn the radio off, but the prompts were extremely low. In the past, the radio volume would drop before a prompt, the prompt would be loud and clear, then radio volume would come back up. Checked the manual, has information for increasing the prompt volume, but my unit does not have screens to match those instructions. Anyone have any ideas?? Last used navigation I think in Feb, no issues. Help Please!!
  11. Funny that is always the way!!!
  12. Just read this whole thread, and am curious about something YellowDuck. On the crescent I live on here in Kitchener, Ontario there is a pearl white Journey at, I believe, the house second from the entrance to the crescent. There used to be two Jeeps in the driveway, is it possible its your Journey?
  13. Yes you never know what tomorrow can bring. A beautiful tribute to your wife and your lives as a couple. We actually replaced my wife's 06 Grand Caravan in September with a 2014 Journey RT that I had shopped around for. Sadly she only drove it a handful of times, as poor health in December 2014 gave way to a diagnosis of stomach cancer on Dec 23, which had already spread. Also chemo was not an option and she passed away on Jan 24, 2015. This winter has been surreal for myself with the death of my wife of 30 years as in many ways it has not fully sunken in. Hold your loved ones tight.
  14. Trying to download the updates for 2014 Journey RT. I run the "installer" then notning happens, its supposed to go to the next step, but no files are downloaded. I am using windows 8.1, does anyone have suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?
  15. To take advantage of the built I anti-sway control, does your DJ need to be equipped with the factory trailer tow package (wireing, heavy duty cooler)??
  16. Been looking at used winter tires for my 2014 DJ RT (225/55R/19). It appears that the recommended winter steel rim and tire replacement is 225/65R/17 with a -0.79% diameter variance. I can get a set of winter yokohamas with 90% thread on rims but the size is 225/60R/17 with a -3.88% diameter variance (as per the 1010 site). These are from a Journey but I don't know the year and model. Any comments on these Yokohamas, do I take a chance? I read somewhere that greater than 3% variance increases the risk of brake failure. I know it will affect the speedometer. What would YOU do????
  17. Yah, pulled the front wheel on the Journey this morning, tried my son's spare, it will not clear the calipers. Back to the drawing board!!
  18. Sounds like a great deal. What tire did you go with, and what size are you using for winters on your DJ?
  19. Found a great on line tire and wheels source on line, Simply Tire in Toronto. Was surprised to see tire and wheel packages poste with prices, and a good selection of options. www.simplytire.com Does anyone know of an equally good and extensive tire dealers in the Kitchener/Waterloo/ Cambridge area of Ontario, with their tire prices and packages posted on line? Does anyone have any experience with tire dealers in KW/Cambridge?
  20. I have a new 2014 Journey RT with the stock rims (225/55/19). My son has the original wheels from a 2001 Grand Cherokee, 17" wheels, I believe the tires are 235's. I am planning on getting new winter tires 225/65R/17 (possibly blizzaks). Does anyone have any idea if these Cherokee rims will fit my Journey? Any chance of caliper or rubbing issues? Thanks
  21. Is this a Canadian or US problem or both. Just picked up a 2014 yesterday and will check tomorrow during the day. I live in Ontario Canada.
  22. Hi, just joined the Journey forum, from Kitchener, Ontario. Just picked up my new 2014 Journey RT yesterday, in Granite Metalic (in other words grey). Love it so far, looks sharp in the 19" silver alloys. Tomorrow we have a date for rust proofing, and I have to price out some good floor mats. Will be in the market for snow tires and winter rims in the next couple of months. Does anyone have an opinion on brands of snow tires? Is it worth the extra money to add the TPMS to the winter rims? The guy at Canadian Tire said there isn't many winter tire choices in 19", and they recommend droping down to 17" or 18". Is this possible, or is it a good idea? Thanks for your input!!
