  1. Hi All. I've been watching and trying to figure things out why my 2010 journey sometimes works and sometimes won't start.. People have said this and that but as for me??? try this... I was sick and tired of replacing that notorious undersized battery that fits in fender..... I was reluctant to drive the thing as I need it for work... but last week I needed it to get a lounge chair... so drove it to work and shut it off, went to work and came back to a dead battery... but the lights were bright, everything looked like it was ok but only 11.5 volts... I decided to pick up some #1 weld cable and run new cables to the b ack area and use a nice big battery... here is where it gets interesting... there were two wires on the ground ( one was from the battery), the Pos. wire? there were 3 wires two wires had voltage on it even when not connected so without looking inside the fender, I assume something was double connected, and without both wires connected the vehicle will not start.... I found this out as the wire that follows the Neg. which looks like it comes from the battery was connected to one side of the bolt and the others on the other side... with that other wire not connected, it acted like a dead battery , making the solenoid click like before... once connected , it was fine... but after checking the fender battery,, it was basically donea nd after a good charge, it only sat at just under 12 volts.... the alternator worked fine but did not get the juice to the battery, ( only a bit and not all the time), that is why it was intermittent..., the connections looked clean but does not take much to stop a flow... Just thought I would mention this.. I hope that's ok now... as I tried to find a drain and I am only drawing 14 ma which apparentely is fine... comments? feel free. cheers
  2. finally after many dead battery issues, found the problem..

I read about the automatic lights , note the issue, about the rechargable battery for the flashlight? not the problem... a heard about the main fuse box under the hood... so being an electrician and electronics person, I removed that box with had 7 connectors at the bottom, pulled them off and unclipped the fuse box as a unit.. they say the box has enough electronic components on the board to cause issues and no longer available..., when it was? it was over 600 dollars or more... but people do repair them for a price..... so careflly took the layer of the unit apart,.. one section is parallel and one section is verticle... Now on the kitchen table.. and all apart..  the verticle part is open to the road sort of... and it was covered in road dirt... one section where higher current was allowed to pass was covered like a magnet... used a kitchen soft brissle brush and cleaned it up and washed it off with electronics sprya cleaner... then sprayed it with Eurothane ... put it back together and not only does it work , but it does not drain the battery anymore and my milage has increased as well.... from 18 mpg to 24 mpg... this is on my 2010 journey rt ...

So can I show this response  to my dealer?  Is it still working?

  3. Greetings.. I recently picked up a 2010 RT.. my previous vehcles since 1990 have been burning LPG Gas (propane)... just to let you know, here in Canada north of toronto,, gasoline is running at about 1.30 per Liter or $4.92 cents per U.S. Gallon. whereas LPG is between 50 and 59 cents per L or just shy of $2 per Gallon. The cost to convert to duel fuel is about 4,000 plus you get a governement incentive of roughly 1600 back.. the payback is only months in fuel savings... my question is has anyone done an LPG conversion where the tank (80 to 100L) does not hamper the cargo space? there does not seem to be any space under the vehicle and all my other vehicles from chrysler 5th ave (truck), chrysler 300 (trunk... cab forward layout allowed plenty of trunk space) and my 97 GM pickup was fitted in the cargo area with a deck on top of the tank). I really can't see any place where I won't lose cargo space... its a 7 passanger vehicle. but its only myself and my lady and lots of travel.. thanks
