I have had my 2009 SXT AWD for a year now and i am not very happy with this vehicle at all and am upside down in it or it would be gone. I have had numerous issues with mine but not the brake issue yet and i have went over a few passes but my issues are when comin to a stop after driving I get a nasty melting plastic/burning fluid smell and then smoke will come out from the hood, this has been happening for 8 months now and I have had it into the shop 3 times now for it and they say they cant find anything wrong with it. I also had to go through the honk\grind steering to left issue and had my resevoir replaced and now for the last 4 months my engine knocks really bad even after oil changes. Overall I am very dissatisfied with my Journey and it only has 18,000 miles on it and I will never own one again. With all the issues I am putting together enough people to start a lawsuit against Chrysler for so many issues with this vehicle and go from there.....if anyone feels they want to be involved in this lawsuit please email me @ miller7428@gmail.com. Its an automatic with the stick shift so i can do both...

I had noticed every time i would come to a stop after about a 30 minute drive i would come to a stop and get a bunch of smoke coming out from under the hood and the fender wells that smelled like burning oil or some other fluid so i took it into the dealership and they said nothing was leaking or couldnt find anything wrong. Did any of you experience the same issue before they figured out what it was? It is really frustrating me that i have had this many issues already on a brand new vehicle with only 5500 miles on it. Any TSB's out on this yet?

I have the AWD version also and it whines mainly when i am turning and also when teh transmission is shifting. The mechanic that rode with me to hear said it sounds louder then normal and then after picking it up they said it was normal whcih makes no sense. I also get smoke coming out from under the hood and they said there was no sign of any leaks but yet i constantly get smoke when coming to a stop!!! I am ready to write Chrysler about it and start really complaining....

I have the gas engine.

I am getting a louder then normal whining sound coming from my tranny or my engine. I have taken it in to the dealership and they tell me that is normal. I drove a rental Journey and didnt have the same issue.... I am getting really frustrated with my Journey since i have owned it about 3 months now and has been into the shop about 4 times for different things but keep getting told that is normal. Any one else have the same sound. It almost sounds like a powere steering pump whine to a point. Thank you for any ideas or similar issues...

I had the grinding noise and it is gone but i have noticed i am getting a lot of whinning when i turn but not the noise your getting....

I also tinted my windows at 20% to match the back!!!!

For all of you that have the HONK/GROWL sound mine has been fixed. I took it into the shop last week and when i got it back it started doing it again but after a day of driving the sound went away. They replaced the reservoir and put a taller one on and they also replaced a pressure switch in the pump also....from what i understand about it is when it would turn left it required more fluid at a higher pressure and the switch that was in there wasnt giving it enough fluid which would produce the grinding sound cause there wasnt enough fluid but it is all fixed now.....

Mine went in today as the noise was getting worse and the whining noise was also getting worse and i will be picking it up tomorrow after they install my lo jack system, paint sealent and the fabric and carpet guard and we will see if them replacing the resorvoir will fix the issue....im not to positive that it will after looking at some of the posts on here. Let me know if anyone has this done yet and if they have a solution yet!!!!

It is getting worse and it sounds to me that it is a really bad grinding noise....I called 2 seperate shops to see the reacyions and opinions that i would get from what i told them and they both looked at the TSB but they both had 2 seperate answers and neither one of them have ever seen an issue in there shops. It started out to be just a light faint grind and now its getting really bad and so i am going to call and get an appointment earlier then monday the 20th....

If the brake system is anything like the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 model and above then they warp very quickly since the rims are too close to the rotors and they get too hot...i talked to our Les Schwab dealer here and they thought there would be a recall on it but nothing yet and i noticed on my journey that its the same issue...

Anyone hear if there is a firmware or software update for the Tranny yet?

On another post on here it states that there is possibly a firmware update for the tranny shifting, does anyone know about this? I just got my 2009 Journey SXT AWD Brilliant Black Journey and i took a trip over a pass here in Washington state and as it did 70 over the pass it seemed to want to keep shifting and wouldnt hold the speed. When i am on the streets it seems to shutter or vibrate a little and am wondering if anyone else is getting this and if this can be programmed and fixed?

I am wanting to put either the Euro tail lights or LED tail lights on my Brilliat Black Journey since i like the chrome tail light appearance and it would make it look sweet! Let me know if anyone knows where to get them or if they are available yet!
