  1. Appears at least to have a limit. I tried the same test again when I had a little more time and it looks like it maxed out at 213.8l/100. Pretty impressive! Then not surprisingly my economy figures for the rest of the week have looked pretty bad ending up at 22l/100. Still need to do a refill to refill test to see what reality is..
  2. Home from a 7300km road trip in our new (to us) Caravan and i did one tank of E85 when it was $2.4l/g vs $2.8l/g for 87. Pulled out of the fuel station and saw an immediate change in the average fuel from what was around 9l/100 up to 12-13ish/100 on the highway. On that alone I don't think it's worth it so didn't do it again. Don't think my Journey is compatible..
  3. I found something interesting on this over the last couple of weeks. We have a 2012 Journey R/T and recently acquired at 2012 Caravan as the second car. It was surprising to find the Caravan had better economy.. way better. which is odd because its the same engine, same age, similar(ish) km's.. but it's a brick on wheels.. and then i noticed something. when I'm stopped at lights, the caravan reads 0l/100. but the dodge reads something astronomically high. i put this to the test today, as I was pulling into the driveway I reset the reading, then parked on the driveway for a few minutes. My average fuel reading was climbing at a rate between 10 and 15 l/100 every 5-10 seconds up to about 213l/100 before I stopped. Given I have a reasonably short commute in traffic I'm not surprised it appears way worse! Anyone else found this?
  4. Hi All, I can see variations of these posts but can't find one for all three at once. Nice sunny day in Toronto today and thought I might wash & clean the interior of the car. Once done, all nice and shiny, I went to turn it around and drive into the garage, went straight out the driveway and down the street (straight line, no corners) suddenly the traction control light starts flashing.. a moment later the the ABS light, then a slight clunk, then "Service AWD"... pulled over to the side of the road, turned off, gave it a second, then back on. ABS and Traction control both still on, drive a few meters and the Service AWD comes back. completed the block and parked it back in the garage..... Is a 2011 R/T with 110k on the OD. Have had no issues since I bought it 2 years ago. Any ideas? should I be fine to drive it to the local dealer or do I need a tow truck?
  5. Hi bigstr, The Journey has 82000k's on it. It is running fine from what I can tell. Fuel economy is up there but for a 6 cyl AWD used mainly for short trips during the week and exploring on the weekends I'm not surprised. otherwise it hasn't skipped a beat in the 7000k's we've put on it since April. We are about to do a tour or eastern US though so thought it worth a check over.
  6. Hi, Newbie here and new to dodge ownership. I moved to Toronto from Australia back in April and we bought a 2011 Journey R/T. Time has come to book it in for a service and in the absence of people to ask I booked it in at the downtown Dodge dealer. They have suggested a list of things to get changed which I suspect may contain some bogus elements, that said, it's the first service for me and i don't know how long it's been since some of these things were done so there is a peace of mind element to getting it looked over. I'm after a few opinions, I understand how most things in a car work, but I'm far from a mechanic! 1. "Tune-up" $428 - includes replacing spark plugs which i'm told cost around $135 and plugging the ECU into a machine to check it out. why would i do this? i understand the plugs but is it more just about making sure everything is running properly? 2. Induction Service $199 - good to see this is an international dealer upsell... pass.. 3. Front Struts & mounts for $705 + $109 for alignment. - i suspect after 80k this could be legit but the price seems high. i recall paying $1000 for struts & springs on my landcruiser in Aus. is this normal for Canada? 4. Apparently the Rear Toe Links are ceasing.. $559 to replace. 5. Replace all Fluids. Power Steering $109, Brake $105, Trans $225 & Coolant $125 - these could be fine but with no history i don't think it would hurt to change them. The rear toe links are the main one I'm unsure about. seems a high price, ceasing vs ceased tells me I can leave this for a while but what happens when they cease? does it just make it hard to align the wheels or is there something more I'm missing? Anyone else on here from the inner eastern side (beaches area) that is or knows a mechanic that could offer a second opinion/potentially better pricing? Appreciate the help.
