Hello,
And Help!
I am active duty Military stationed in Madrid Spain for 3 years. I bought 2012 DJ Crew for my family of 6. It threw code P0302 as reported by the Dodge Dealer here in Madrid this month. Yes there is a dealer here. The car is not really running rough, but I needed an oil change anyway so took it in. They want to replace the heads on #2 cylinder. Seems like that is the fix from what I have learned here.
But- Because the Car is Europe- Dodge does not want to honor the factory warranty and neither will Dodge Europe. I have the extended 5 yr-100K mile powertrain warrantee so here is the kicker... Can I just wait till I get home next JUL to have it fixed? I have spent over an hour on phone with Dodge Customer agents in U.S. and EU trying to get answers but they will not tell me either:
1. now that it thru the code in Mar of 2014 at 34K miles and no one will cover the warrantee (verified by Dodge here)- can I drive it for another 14 months, wait to fix until I return to the U.S. and not void the warrantee?
2. what do I risk by driving it in this condition?
3. Are there options short of changing the heads?
Once I saw the quote here, I immediately called my Dodge Dealer in MD. The Service manager told me this was a known problem with my year/engine and therefore I needed to get advice from "corporate" Seems everyone is avoiding the situation and the best I got from "Mimi" at Customer service is: "What ever you decide sir is your decision". Gee thanks.
Oh by the way- the fix here is of $5K U.S. to change the heads.
All advice would be greatly appreciated.
