1. I own a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT. I need to top off my coolant and the owner's manual recommends Mopar Antifreeze/Coolant 5 Year HOAT (red [or pink] in color). I was wondering if there is an equivalent coolant I can purchase at an auto store. I'm going on a road trip and I only need to top the recovery tank off. Plus, I really don't want to pay $20.00 for a gollon of coolant at a dealership. Thank you.

    Fireman,

You really should be getting the Mopar HOAT as it is designed for our engines and Mopar parts are priced competitively.

That being said, if you are going to purchase from an auto store, just make you get the equivalent to MS-9769G.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Haha I am new too Journeys. My equinox has AWD in it and my girlfriend drives the limits year round. I had a dodge caliber and all i did was slide in it. i got the journey at the end of winter but being a new driver I never tested out the AWD from what you guys say this is going to be SWEET!!!! I love alberta winters :P btw I drove her equinox too work last winter and AWD is amazing on that and i work in the middle of no mans land

    Spiderwick,

Happy to see you love your DJ!

AWD is worth having given the AB winters, I don't have it in mine seeing as we don't get that much snow here in Windsor but Love have the 4-Auto in my Ram when we do get a heavy snowfall!

  3. We've had our 2012 Journey Crew V-6 since May and love it except for a few oddities. We have recently been getting a sporadic error when trying to start the engine that shows "Key not detected." However when we have received this error the key is either in my pocket or in my wife's purse and in the vehicle. We've even received that error when both key fobs were in the vehicle. On one occasion the wife had the car running when this error came up and the alarm dinged.

Haven't had a chance to have my dealer check this out yet but was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Does anyone have any idea what causes this problem?

    walker,

I recommend getting your DJ to your dealer with both keys.

They will start with your Fobs and work their way from there.

It happens from time to time and very easy to remedy with most likely a reprogramming of the ignition module.

Let us know how you make out.

  4. Hey guys ok so ive been in contact with K&N for the development of a cai (cold air intake) for are journeys now he said that the reason there is not one is because there is not enough requests for one to be developed so i asked what can be done so he said you have to go to the K&N site and request it be developed so here is the link so we need everyone and anyone to fill these out the more we get the better are chances !

http://www.knfilters...Journey&en=3.6L fill it out and check off the intake systems!

thanks for reading and i hope this works

    2011sxt,

I did some research and found the Mopar Cold Air Intake for 2011 - 13 DJs (part# 77060080) which is available in Canada.

Contact your local dealer for pricing and ordering information.

Also, I agree with redtomatoman, let your dealer install it that way you know you're covered if something goes wrong with the part; which by the way, carries a one year unlimited kms warranty.

  5. How do you update the gracenotes info for the 2012 8.4N? I have a bunch of newer CDs (released in the last 12 months) that only list "track 1 track 2 track 3" etc with no album art. Kind of annoying to have such a nice display that displays nothing useful.

    lytefall,

I agree, that would be annoying with such a nice head unit.

I don't have the 8.4 myself but I hear nothing but good in general.

To answer your question, to the best of my knowledge, there are currently no Gracenotes updates nor am I aware of any coming in the future. . .

You may want to stay in contact with your dealer as they will be notified if by chance one does become available.

  6. Good Morning all!

To add what Astral shared, I am posting the instruction per page 40 of the 2012 Owner's Manual.

    "Reset

It may be necessary at some point in time to reactivate the Auto-up/Auto-down feature.

To do so, perform the following steps:

    1. Pull the window switch up to close the window completely and continue to hold the switch up for an additional two seconds after the window is closed.

    2. Push the window switch down firmly to the second detent to open the window completely and continue to hold the switch down for an additional two seconds after

    the window is fully open."

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Astral; super helpful info!

  7. Can someone tell me why we as Canadians are FORCED to purchase AWD if you want to buy a 2013 RT?

Dodge.com price and build gives you the option of FWD or AWD but not in Canada.

What reason is this other than adding $4000 to the price ?

We are really being screwed by the automakers in this country guess I'll be hanging on to my 09 RT FWD which I guess is a rarity in Canada- yikes

    larryl,

That is correct; we only offer the R/T in AWD for the 2012 and 2013.

In Canada and we are continually changing and updating our product line-up, however, as disclosed on our sites and in our literature, Chrysler Canada reserves the right to change or delete options without prior notice or obligation.

These occurrences are kept to a minimum; however, many factors come in to play when it comes to specific feature being available in Canada vs. the US.

In order to determine which features will be optional or standard, extensive market research is conducted and vehicle equipment is determined by popular demand and by market competitiveness.

I hope that provides some clarity for you.

  8. Has anyone found a way to connect an Ipad to the radio in an 2010 RT? It has the Ipod connector but is not letting the Ipad to download songs into the hard drive of the radio or even play them through the speakers. Frustrating....

    Waddie,

I’m sorry to hear that you are frustrated with your Radio and your IPad.

As you might already know, all Apple devices (IPod/IPhone/IPad) do not allow users to upload or download anything “to or from it” as ITUNES must be used to import files (music/photos/movies/books/etc.).

The IPad is not compatible with UConnect.

When connected to the vehicle’s USB port, so when plugged in, your IPad will display this message “The device is not supported by the IPad” and your radio may display “‘Reading” or “Error”

If your vehicle is equipped with the UConnect system, you can pair your IPad with the radio and stream audio via Bluetooth.

Another solution is to use an inexpensive USB Jump drive to store/transfer media from your computer to the radio via the USB port.

Hope that clears things up for you and if you are unsure of if or what UConnect system you have, send me a PM and I can look in to that for you.

  9. Picked up my new journey last Saturday, seems to operate well, This Saturday (225 Kms) parked in the mall , car doors would not lock with the button on the drivers door handle or with the key transponder. The doors would lock via the arm rest button but I did not want to lock the car if I could not get it open again.

Checked tp make sure all the doors were closed porperly - still no locking. Decided to go home and get spare key (transponder) but couldn't start the car. Received message on the displat thet there was no KEY present.

Boy that battary died quick thinks I.Now what!

Called the dealer, Oh you will have to bring it in and we will check the programing on keys. Told me to press the start button with the key transponder and the car should start.

All of a sudden the cat recgognized the key and I started the car. Everything seemed to be working normaly so I turned the car off, kept the drivers window down and locked the car, then unlocked it all worked. So I lock the car again, go into the store, come back to the car 10 minutes later -Car WONT UNLOCK.

Used the key in the key transponder to manually unlock the car. Hit the start button and the car started.

Drove home, got the spare key and headed to the dealer. Of course everything is working normally.

So I have to leave the car in Monday evening and get a rental car so the dealer can check things out on Tuesday.

Can't say I have a warm fussy feeling with this car. I am thinking what will it do in the winterwhen the temp is thirty below, today was sunny and 22 c

    Manitoban,

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

Like Mcgusto82 pointed out, this is not common.

I’m certainly glad that you are getting your DJ in to your dealer.

That being said, let me know what transpires and if you require any assistance.

  10. Hey everyone. New to the forum. Just bought and 09 Journey SXT white AWD. I was wondering if you can swap out the factory radio for like a 6" or a 7" radio unit with OR without nav.. I have been searching everywhere and i can't find anything. Any help would be amazing. thanks.

    Kyle,

Congrats on the purchase of your 2009!

Unfortunately there is nothing available for the 2009's with nav. from Mopar, Sorry.

Although, if you follow the link below, there are a few 6.5" touch screen options with Satellite, DVD and 30 GB HD there for you along with any other accessory you might be interested in.

You can place your order at your local Dodge dealer.

  11. I just got my journey r/t last august 10 . How can i know when it was built? Is there a place in the vehicle where i can find when it was built! I wanna know how long it was in the dealers yard before i got it!

    Chris1276,

The label is located on the driver-side door shut-face and provides the following information:

    • Month and year of vehicle manufacture.

    • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).

The gross front and rear axle weight ratings (GAWR's) are based on a minimum rim size and maximum cold tire inflation pressure.

    • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

    • Type of vehicle.

    • Type of rear wheels.

    • Bar code.

    • Month, Day and Hour (MDH) of final assembly.

    • Paint and Trim codes.

    • Country of origin.

See the example below for where to look.

    Have a great day!

  12. Well went to the dealer today for a oil change and filter....along with the programmed TIMP Sales Code for the trailer wiring to be active....And the service guy told me about a recall he can do today also that may cause the Engine light to come on.....(He said he ran my VIN #)

Checked the invoice when I was done and it's listed as a "Rapid Response1"

    Correction:.....Performed Rapid Response.......

Anybody have this issue and know more about this recall?

    Thanks......

    2012 Jourmey R/T AWD 3.6 VVT. Canadian issue.........thanks again....

    ......Caper........

    caperinmuskoka,

    Moparman is correct.

A Rapid Response Transmittal (RRT) is an action-type inter-company correspondence on an involved vehicle model that is either shipped or unshipped to the consumers, and is discovered to have a possible concern.

The notifications contain repair procedures, photos or diagrams and other related information.

They are not sent out to customers like a recall, and again, as Moparman said, are not common.

Every time in to your dealer, they should be checking for anything updates of this nature and completing them.

  13. :yahoo: I have to applaude this. . . Customer Service. This isn't even my problem, but I Thank You! I hope if I ever get in a position that I need a friend on the inside someone steps in on my behalf. Dodge is building great cars, but Dodge needs more of this.

I had my local Dodge dealer deliver my vehicle to my work after a service recently, outstanding. I love that!!!! Small gesture, but means so much to me as a customer. It also helps if my vehicle is reliable, but I understand that no vehicle is perfect.

    Peace.

    redtomatoman,

    Thanks for the comment!

I'm here to help the best I can with the resources we have.

If you ever need anything, let me know.

  14. During the hot summer the air was always on but every so often at startup the climate control would go into heating mode. The dealer could find no problem so I will wait for it to hppen again then try the warrenty procedure again.

    Herb,

    You're doing the right thing.

Often, if the dealer can't reproduce the issue, we will kindly ask the customer to bring it to the dealer's attention when the issue occurs, especially in very intermittent cases.

Let me know via PM if you require my assistance.

  15. Just got of the phone with Customer Service and then the dealership.I'm still getting the same answer.Chryslers guide line is 1 litre for every 1600km. Showing no oil on the dipstick at 5000km. is not normal.I'm old school thats only 3106 miles.Since the last oil change it reads 3101km and that only 1926 miles.1926 miles and the oil is almost at the bottom line that marks the safe area.Again their answer is Chryslers guide line is 1 litre per 1600km.I can't make them understand that losing that much oil over a paltry 5000km isn't normal.I asked to speak to a engineer. No luck.Only the service manager can speak to them and they won't phone my home.Which mean they won't phone the engineer because the will tell him that's normal.Again why do I have to put in 3 extra litres of oil between oil changes when another owner who doesn't have my issue doesn't have to?Will Chrysler pay for the extra oil?Why do I need to keep a case of oil in the back to top up?And I can't get a positive answer to how much oil shows on the dipstick? Is it 2 litres or 3 .Is there anywhere in the manual that says, not to be alarmed when no oil shows on the dipstick. Are there any engineers on here that will tell me it's not normal. Other than doing a oil comsumption test nothing else was done to the engine to find the problem.Oh they changed the PCV valve. Can't they stick a probe in the tailpipe.Won't that show excessive carbon.I can see if all the 3.5 lost that much oil .Then I wouldn't be on here.Over 100 years of car building they build a engine that burns oil.And they say it normal.I thought the enviroment was a number 1 priority.I know I will get the same answer from the dealership and Customer Service doesn't do anything but take your complaint. There is know one else to contact. And you know the sad thing, If I get rid of the vehicle which is for sure ,someone else will buy it not knowing the oil problem.

    MWG,

1L per 1600kms is the industry standard, that being said, i would like to investigate this for you.

Send me a PM with your VIN, name and best contact number you can be reached on.

    Hope to hear from you.

  16. I just got my 2012 journey r/t awd and i love it.. One thing that disappoints me is the way it consume gas. Im on my 400k now and the EVICS says im averaging 21.4L/100km most of it is city driving!

To all here having r/t awd, are youguys getting as poor fuel consumption as mine? Im so worried to the fact that im driving as gentle as i can! Will it improve when it get higher mileage or i will be stuck on this very high fuel consumption!!

    Please share me your toughts!

    Chris1276,

I agree with the general consensus re: your gas mileage.

There is a break-in period where you will see your fuel consumption be a bit higher than anticipated at time of purchase.

If you get to your first oil change and your mileage doesn’t change, ask your dealer about starting a fuel consumption test.

This should help figure out if there is an issue and investigate further if there is one.

  17. I would be perfectly fine with that, but it's never less than 10 minutes for me and often closer to 20. Chrysler and my dealer both say there's nothing wrong with my system. It's working as designed. My dealer even went further to say that every time you cycle the ignition, the system is supposed to recognize the iPod as if it was plugged in for the first time and do a full index. I pointed out that the manual clearly states it should only re-index if the content changes. He just shrugged.

    generaltso,

Sorry you are having issues with your UConnect system.

When you say Chrysler, do you mean you contacted our Customer Service line?

If you'd like me to look in to this for you, send me a PM with your VIN and name with the best contact number I can reach you at when I research this a bit further.

Can you also include the versions of IPods you are using as well, this will be very helpful.

  18. Hi im just new here and having my first vehicle! Im owning a 2012 journey r/t black.. I want some comment suggestion from the owner or somebody see a black journey on what particular accessorries i should buy to make it look good! And some advise when to shop online or here in our city! Im from Saskatchewan Canada!

Thanks any suggestion will be muchly appreciated!

    Chris1276,

    Congrats on your new DJ!

My suggestion is to check out our Mopar accessories at the link below.

There are a ton accessories for you to pick from and all carry a one (1) year unlimited KM warranty.

The easiest way to get them is to place your order with your dealer.

    http://mopar.acc-acc.ca:580/web/accessories.php?webaccess=4A13F8D&vehname=2012%20Journey%20R/T&vehid=287|1593

    Hope this helps!

  19. Hello all,

I use my 2011 Journey R/T only in the winter with winter tires and wheels. Just got the car a year ago. It has been sitting in the garage for most of the summer after I changed the wheels over to the all seasons and original rims. I am now dealing with a rubbing/grinding noise on the right rear wheel only. When I changed the wheels/tires over to the summer ones, my mechanic did not notice any unusual wear on the pads and rotors. Now this noise and it looks like something is rubbing on the rotor. Is this possible after only one season to have to replace rotors and pads on a relatively new vehicle? Mileage is 37000 kms and mostly highway driven. Any help would be appreciated.

    Canadian Paul

    Paul,

My only suggestion is to get your vehicle booked in with your dealer.

They should be able to take care of you there.

I would also recommend talking to the service manager and ask them to explain the technical details as to why this is happening.

If you need any help with your dealer, send me a PM with your VIN, Name and dealer and I will look in this for you.

  20. Hey guys i was on youtube and found this video . I too have this sound. Does anyone else have this sound occur. Is this sound normal. Thanks in advance. :) Ohh this isnt my car

    Mohammadsen

From listening to that video, it sounds like a normal start up.

If you have concerns with your Journey, my only recomendation is to bring it in to your local dealer and have them take a look/listen.

You could also ask the dealer to compare to other Journeys like yours and see if they all start the same.

    Hope that helps.

  21. Our previous car was a Cobalt SS. When you engaged the transmission - the doors locked. This is for safety. With our new 12' DJ, the doors only lock automatically at a certain speed. This is just plain stupid. My wife goes to the gym at 5:30AM daily and safety is a concern. She's learning to manually lock the doors as she pulls out of the garage but shouldn't have to. Is there a setting that we're missing? We park in the garage every night so with the Cobalt, as soon as she begins to back out, the doors locked which was safe as she warmed the car up in the driveway. Can't find any setting to lock the doors any other way in the DJ. Are we missing something?

    Rubberdude88

    You aren't missing anything.

The doors lock automatically when the vehicle's speed goes over 24 km/h.

I have looked into getting it changed over to lock when the vehicle is put in to gear although this system is designed as such and can only be turned on or off by the dealer.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

  22. Hi all!

Wanted to chime in on the backup cameras.

The whole idea with the camera is to assit when backing up, look for things in the way, but mirrors are still helpful seeing as the camera only picks up what is directly beind you and some of what is around.

Love it when hooking up to the trailer with the Ram and great feature in the Journey when trying to get out of a parking lot.

  23. Kamhillbily!

We apologize for and are very sensitive to the consequences of part delays, and as a result, we do attempt to minimize delivery time to our dealers.

The factors influencing our inventory are many and include supplier availability, storage capacity, and part production/demand.

These factors are continually reviewed to ensure optimal combinations; however, there will inevitably be some delays, which we may not be able to modify.

If you would like me to look into this for you, send me a PM with your VIN and name of your dealer; from there i will see what i can do.

  24. Hello Canadian Forum members!!!

Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself; my name is DennyB of the Top Care Group of Dodge Canada.

I'm here to assist you with any questions or concerns your may have with your Journeys so feel free to PM me anytime and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

I look forward to hearing from you!
