  1. In 1991 in California (later all other states) all cars had to have a way to check for error codes, but when the ODBII 1996 became standard manufactures were asked to follow that instead of non-standard variances of OBDI or propietary. Today you can get a cheap OBDII reader from ebay and you can have fun at all the things available! So no, not anymore but to reset the oil reminder.
  2. Yes, I was crawling under and all stainless steel.. to be fair all modern cars have them like that.. Haven't you noticed that exhaust components are lasting way longer than in the 70s or 80s?
  3. I have a white 911 and I know the issue here... It does take time to see where you've been, with good light in your garage you will get it right, just move your head up/down,side/side until you can tell if there is a spot missing.. definitely one panel at the time.. Note: Never-ever use a chamois or cloth that has fallen to the ground. Be as surgical as an operating room.. take your time and bring a six-pack so you enjoy it...
  4. Actually since I used the premium brake pads there is basically no brake dust. It does help definitely!
  5. This is too funny, I've seen the exact same comment on the GM forums. BTW I agree with you but that's the way manufacturers are going... Life is too short. My advise is to look at the whole package, the Journey is definitely a head turner SUV. I'm so happy with mine :-)
  6. My Journey has 142,000 KMS and the tranny is working perfectly! (knock on wood) I changed the tranny, front and rear diff fluid on schedule.
  7. I think you can replace with with the slightly wider tire 230/50?? I think I've seen the blessing from Dodge to do that... Search and you'll find a lot of info on that... Good luck!
  8. I'm winning it seems.. My DJ has 143,000KMS and based on the service records just the recalls were done + blown steering hose. Twice the brakes were replaced. I just replaced the rear brake pads with ceramic, lets see how they last.. my initial impression is that they create a lot less dust than the old ones.. I just got the tranny + Rear Diff + Power Transfer Unit (Front Diff) + Coolant fluids replaced. Everything seems to be in working order.. I was quoted for the timing belt a $2k job I'm loving my DJ!!
  9. That sound like a torque converter kick.. Cold transmissions shift harder but never "kicks". Besides if the part is under Warranty the dealership will gladly replace that cause they get the job ($$$) and Dodge pays for the repair...
  10. You bet, I got her with 140 K. 95% of that is highway so the Journey is in top shape aside from the cracked windshield.... Yes it has the 19" Chrome clad wheels (and brand new Khumo tires + R/T Package + Navigation, etc. (All bells and whistles) I have the service history and absolutely nothing wrong, the recalls were done and brakes just twice in the 140 K, I just replaced the rear brake pads cause they were down to 1 mm... No issues with AWD or anything, I suspect that is rock solid cause it came from MB if I remember correctly.. I'm loving the DJ. Every time I get in I feel like I'm in a 1st class seat! I mean I've been driving beaters since I can remember... so this thing is a complete treat!! Gaspar
  11. I have 141,000KMS and it is a 2009. As per the users manual schedule the tranny and diffs need to be flushed as well as the coolant.. The next big thing is the timing belt but that is until 170 and since I only drive about 15K a year I will do it in about 4 years.. Also they found out the gasket shaft in the rear diff is seeping oil so that's another $250 :-( but it's not urgent.. the bad one is the rear brakes down to 1 mm.. I'll replace the pads on Sat. I'll see if I can take pics.etc of the procedure cause there is nothing for the Journey out there.. I've never owned a car more undocumented (technically)..
  12. I been searching but there is absolutely nothing.. So I bit the bullet and got the car in to get the Tranny flush+Rear Diff+Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Journey doesn't have a front diff separate, it is part of the tranny or the PTU I can't remember. Also I got the coolant flush done. All was done for $700 Now with the new tranny fluid the transmission is shifting... exactly the same... i guess that is good news meaning the tranny is still in good shape and probably didn't need a fluid replace so badly.. oh well.. Now I'll deal with those pesky calipers..
  13. Hi, I just called the dealership and I think is way to expensive to pay for the front and rear diff flush over $150 each. I've done it in the past to other vehicles but I'm wondering if anyone here have done it and have documented the process or offer any advice. Note: My Journey is off warranty so it's my sole responsibility. Thanks!
  14. Hi, Intro: I just got a 09 Journey with all bells and whistles and based on the drive back home that car is a dream to drive! Is like first-class seat! I guess after driving clunkers for too long you get to appreciate the comfort! I'm looking forward to learn more about the features and mechanical stuff (cause I like that) Thanks Gaspar
