  1. Nice look. What are those running boards? More Info please ;-)
  2. What I want to share is that around here is so cold the rotors are buttery even, like new.. the -18c (0f) keeps them cold enough to eliminate completely all the pulsating So I'll delay the rotors replacement until is warm again
  3. Don't know about mileage but the engine is way quieter during cold starts...
  4. For my 09' RT: 1) iphone integration does not work (I have DVD Nav so it "uses" something that iphone needs) 2) When cold and remote started I want my heated seats on period. 3) Front pillars are way too wide for my taste, I almost hit someone the other day cause as he walked across the crosswalk the pedestrian was completely blocked by the pillar. 4) Cup holders too low and other small ergonomic changes that are now fixed Everything else is pretty good!
  5. I've had my 2009 for a year and have driven about 15000 Miles (23k Kms) and I'm very-very happy.. Everyone is impressed and can't believe is a Dodge. And the 3rd row is a killer feature! Now If I could just buy the built in booster seats would be the absolute best, in fact when this one is gone I'll get another one!
  6. I got these ones that really-really help. I don't know where they came from cause I got them used but they have the ratchet system with rubber stops. Each mirror has two mirrors, plain and convex (on the outside half) and they're really nice..
  7. awesome video, great help for those who want to give it a try.. I did and it was very easy. Just one note, as mentioned below, use jack stands and I wouldn't top up the fluid reservoir until you're done with the second or all 4 wheels, most likely you don't need to top up anything because the calipers will be retracted. On a system that has no leaks the fluid level is a good gauge to see how much wear pads have..
  8. The factory pads are absolute crap. I replaced mine with a higher end pads and there is basically no dust and rotors and holding up fine too.. All that brake dust is part of the problem with calipers seizing and accumulating water and rusting prematurely.. While you're under warranty don't care but after try better pads and you'll see..
  9. Akara, That is not normal, probably the torque converter is involved.. Discuss with your dealership if a tranny flush would be a proactive way to prevent a possible failure, maybe they will give you a discounted price.. If it feels different from a cold day/start to a hot it is absolutely not right. good luck
  10. Joe you really need to reconsider exceeding any limitations from GVWR, GAWR, GCVWR because if you exceed any of those you are fully liable. Your trailer is exactly the same as mine (well mine is older) and my Journey is a 2009 R/T so I do know what it is to tow that trailer and a few miles before the camp site I fill up the tank and that is in my opinion too much for the Journey.. Something will break.. Look what happened to JourneyDone, possibly a consequence of heavy towing. I know that the Journey will tow that, I've done it like 5-7 times and nothing happened but I decided to buy a truck and release my Journey from towing duties..http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?/topic/3440-now-im-retiring-the-journey-from-towing/ I find it too funny that our Trailers, hitches, controllers and Journey color and trim are the same! http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?/topic/3351-finally-im-towing-the-travel-trailer/ Excellent taste my friend.. ;-) Have fun!
  11. So I'm swinging back and will no longer tow the travel trailer with the Journey.. Reason being is that here in Western Canada I like to go to the Rocky mountains and the Journey is absolutely and completely tortured with the trailer that after filling the tank is already ~3200lbs + kids + clothes + food + (all other junk needed) I'm over the 3500lbs capacity so its a matter of time when I will kill it and something is going to give.. i.e. Tranny, Diff, engine, etc.. By the way when I had to floor it and let the engine go to ~5K RPM that engine roars so beautiful! Reminded me of a v8 actually! I'm really delighted with the exhaust notes of that engine, really-really nice! I had suggestions to upgrade to a more capable (from the towing perspective) SUV or CUV but for a 2010-2011 they're all in the $30's so I faced an financial decision: Sell the Journey for ~$10K + Loan for $20K = a used SUV like a MDX or just get a purpose specific pickup truck to do that. I chose the latter (In my head made more sense) cause I found one for $9K that is just perfect for the Job: F-250 5.4l (Gasoline) Super Crew So I've towed the trailer twice with the truck and there is no white knuckle driving anymore.. This thing is heavy and stupidly powerful, I can only imagine a diesel... It is an absolute gas guzzler but I only use it for camping/towing.. Now I'm actually thinking of getting a bigger trailer, with a truck the selection opens up completely which was so restricted before. Saying the above, the Journey is perfectly capable of towing but something lighter. And because I want to keep the journey until the wheels fall off it has been released from towing duties. Here's the new mule.. Thanks
  12. Hi The R/T 2009 does not have a temp gauge.. Not a huge issue here in Canada since the weather is never way too hot to cook transmissions (with oil cooler) but I have retired the Journey from towing.. (see new thread: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?/topic/3440-now-im-retiring-the-journey-from-towing/)
  13. Yes it is but there are equalizer bars that definitely help, without them it would be an in lower which is too much cause there is no a lot of travel left and you don't want your rear suspension to bottom out. My impression after a weekend of hauling a 3000lbs trailer: Journey will have no issues towing but you don't want to push it too hard. Going uphill the Journey will not keep up with traffic and I don't want to push it hard so expect real interesting moments when merging, etc.. Mileage dropped to about 16mpg (14.7 l/100kms). Brakes worked remarkably well. The trailer brakes are assisting so I'm not concerned but I just hope I don't have to have an emergency stop cause I'm not betting the thing will come to a halt on a dime. I had to use manual mode so I control the revs, I didn't feel the 6th to 5th to 6th constant shifting while I was in "D", I think the Journey was well aware of the weight and only seldom shifted to 6th, most of the time it was 5th, but then again that was just for about 1/2 hour, the rest of the time it was me doing the shifting. I'm very happy with the journey and its capabilities of towing but I'm concerned that the newer models dropped the towing capacity to 2500. Why?? To be fair, Ford is doing the same.. Enjoy your summer!
  14. So I installed the factory wiring that I found in the trunk - Very Easy I installed the Curt Hitch - Easy but you need at least 3 hours to get it done. Then I got the Brake controlled installed by Hitch Experts in Calgary and voila! I'm towing a 2750 lbs (dry) travel trailer. My thoughts are: The Journey is capable of towing up to 3500 (as per the user's manual) but something heavy you really-really-really want to have the brake controller installed. Here are some pics Here's a picture of the hitch, notice the 7pin connector they attached to the hitch, very neat and secure and no drilling. Last picture is the only connection to the battery + post. very neat and professional, if you noticed is fused. I'm happy! Tomorrow let's do some serious camping but in the comfort of a trailer. No more tent camping for me!
  15. The story is that like many others I was surprised when the towing package included the wiring but not installed, in the trunk So I ventured to install it... it couldn't be any easier, just pop the tail lights out and run the wires down the space between the body sheet and bumper. You have to be careful cause side with 4 plugs go on the drivers side and the 2 plugs on the passenger. I think it took me longer to undo the connectors at the tail light than the actual install.. it even included those ribbed pin holders that just go under the bumper to keep it in place.. all neatly taped together.. In my opinion this is so easy that Dodge should be ashamed for not doing it at the factory when they install the tranny cooler (part of the towing package) Tomorrow I'll tackle the brake controller.. cheers!
  16. I guess the parts guy was wrong... Still any ideas on how to get a parts catalog? Thanks
  17. Maybe yours is a late build with '12 parts. Any idea where to get a parts catalog for a 12'? Thanks
  18. Hi, Can you please elaborate on what needs to be done in the computer (at the dealership, right?) Do you know if there is comprehensive thread that has all steps needed to install the factory wiring? Thanks!
  19. Hi, I noticed the camera being off center doesn't give the right perspective (object on the left are close than objects on the right - or the other way?) and I noticed the '12 Journey now has that in the centre right above the license plate. I visually looked at the setup and seems like the only difference is the plate holding the camera and license plate lights.. After some investigation the part for the '09-'11 is: 05178321AC (From catalog (page 125/692) - http://www.berrysprinter.com/e-Fiche/Model%20Years/CD5/06-09/09JC.pdf) Does anyone know the part number for the '12? Can someone with a '12 is kind enough to post some pictures? If it's that easy to relocate the camera I'll buy the new plate.. but my dealership tells me that is not going to work cause is "not compatible". I have a hard time believing that. Any advise? Thanks -G
  20. I thought I read they do that to quiet down the interior yet allow water to drain.. the catch is that you have to keep an eye they're not clogged. If you're not comfortable just rip them off.
  21. Hi, I want to share with you my next project.. nicer exhaust tips I noticed the 2012 R/T has nice exhaust tips, my '09 has the boring kind.. (straight pipe cut in angle), so I decided to look for tips and found the almost perfect tips (almost perfect because they're bolt-on to 2 1/2" pipe and my R/T have them like 31/4 so I'll need to cut and solder..) Here are some pictures with how it should look, of course I just put it like that for the picture, I'm hoping to have some time this weekend and get them installed.. I'll post more pictures when they're properly installed.. The brand is Pypes and the finish is really nice! Wish me luck...

  23. Hi, Does anyone know if its possible to copy the contacts on my iPhone ios 5.1.1 to the REU Navigation unit (Media center with separate display)? I have the sharing settings on, on my iphone. Thanks Gaspar
  24. Wow! Thanks. I'm glad I replaced fluids for tranny, PTU and rear Diff
  25. Possibly, my point is that none of that is DOT mandatory so what works in GM won't in Dodge or Ford, etc.. OBDII is the bases for a protocol. In fact the latest releases of the CAN-BUS on top of OBDII is basically a network protocol in which the car is always talking to all devices.. So if a light is busted the computer knows and can send a message to the message centre.. New cars are as complicated as a computer on a network..
