  1. That really looks sharp!!!!!!!. The only other vehicle that I have seen with a chrome deflector, has been a Chevy Tahoe.

I did a search on the internet and found the Stampede website. Can't say I'm impressed with the website. 2012 not listed, and only the smoke hood deflector shown for Journey. So I'm wondering if the shop you deal with got a special order. I would be interesting if you could see the original invoice and it may indicate if it was special order. Wow, if you have the only Dodge Journey with a chrome deflector, thats awsome.

I must admit I would love to get one for my Journey when it arrives. But alas, it will probably be a smokey one. I may be emailing Stampede and inquire myself as to the availability of the chrome deflector

If my Journey ever arrives (ordered beginning of Febraury), I may be interested in looking into the group purchase. When I ordered my Journey, I was taken into "the room" where it was explained to me that I should get an extended warranty and a paint protection package. I said, " just give my how much you want now, so I have time to mull if over".

Well, no way will I purchase the paint/interior/undercoast/ rust proofing protection package at $1100. I can get a better deal elsewhere on rustproofing and undercoating and I have a friend who is an auto detailer who has given me advice on how to proctect the paint myself.

I believe the asking price on the extended warranty that was offered was around $1795, but can't remember if that was a more basic warranty against manufacuring defects or wear and tear. Of course I was told, I will pay a lot less then that. I then talked to my salesperson once I escaped from "the room" and he said he could get me a third party warranty that is just a good or better then Chryslers, and if you don't make any claims during the extended warranty period, you get a percentage of your purchase price back.

I looked at him and said "no third party warranty for me, I've been burned in the past, never again"

But with all the fancy electronics on the cars nowadays, I think I will have to go for the Chrysler extended warranty just for that reason alone.

    Cheers

  3. Welcome to the forum. I don't think you will have any regrets. After comparing a few other SUV's, I was the most impressed with the Journey There were no Rallyes in stock when I was looking and I really have to see one before I could order it, so I opted for the "base" R/T.

  4. Well I finally got word from my salesperson as to when my vehicle will arrive. This is the 105 day mark since I ordered, and the vehicle is leaving the plant in Mexico today. I guess mine was one of those orders that sat in D1 status for some time. The Journey will be at the dealership on the 12th of June, a full 130 days after ordering.

At least there is some light at the end of the tunnel and its my Journey. Hooray!!!!!

  5. Caper if you don't mind taking the photo of the aftermarket hitch, that would be appreciated. But thats more for curiosity sake.

I think between your and Moparman comments on aftermarket versus factory in terms of looks, I will probably go with factory. Glad to hear that the moulding looks OK. I just hope I get an installer that can do as good as job as they have done on yours.

  6. i agree with with moparman also you have 7yr 100 mile warrenty on powertrain thur chyrsler and if any questions with who would cover problem would be between chrysler or dealer as you have documented this occurance. wouldnt worry about it any more unless you hear it aain. also liked the idea of dash cam and recorder, why do you have it for work or what?

I also like the idea of a dash cam.

I saw a U-tube video, where a motorist has a dash mounted video cam. When he was stopped, some people in an expensive BMW purposely backed into him.(Smelling insurance fraud here) When they got of their vehicle and approached his, he got out of his vehicle and pointed to the dash cam. They very quickly got into their vehicle and drove off.

So, I can see the purpose of having one. If some minor accident is not your fault (somebody hits the brakes for no reason, pulls an unsafe lane change when there is not room, etc), as long as the video can be kept and has a date and time on it, nobodys going to argue with a video that proves that its not your fault, but theirs

  7. It would be interesting if we did hear from any Dodge Journey owners that have bought one of these chips to inform us if the claims of better gas mileage are true,

Do you really think if it was that easy, Car companies wouldn't do it themselves?? A fool and his money are soon parted as the saying goes. I can't beleive people still fall for this crap.

Of course not, but I always like to ask questions to get other peoples opinions. And yes I do agree with you about a fool and his money. I thought the icon at the end would have shown that I was giving my head a shake as a momentary brian fart caused me to even entertaini a thought that something like this might work,

  8. Too bad the 'ribbon' can't be ordered from the dealer. I haven't been able to find this item from aftermarket Dodge websites here in North America. I guess it is only available in South America.

One last comment about your photos. I really was taken aback by some of the angles of your photographs. Most photos I see are looking down at the vehicle, but I thing the ones from the lower angle are very professional. Are you a professional photographer, or does this artistic ability to compose a photo come naturally (if thats the case, I'm jealous (lol), I just can't take good photos)?

Would you mind of if I download the photo with your Golden Retirever Luna in the photo? Being a dog lover and Golden Retirievers being on of the my favourties (the other being Golden Labs). I would like to use it as my desktop background.

  9. I'm wondering if the large brake size for the 2012 R/Ts will cause any problems when I want to purchase snow tires on 17" rims later this year.

I have been doing my research since Februray when I ordered my Journey, so I imagine that the tire shops where I have done my research would be using data for 2011 models. Not sure what they look at other then what smaller rim and tire size so as minimize the affect of the speedometer readout. I not one of those mechanically inclined people, so I am worried that a smaller rim size may not be an option if clearance is a problem. Or am I off base here and I don't have to be concerned.

  10. First of all you don't have to apologize for your English, you comments were very readable and welcome to the forum. Love the colour combination. That was the colour combination I wanted, but Mrs DoubleO7 wanted a different combo. So she got to select the colours and I got to select the options. A good trade off in the end.

Secondly, awsome photos, not only of your Journey, but of the area you live in. What a specactular place to live. Not only the area, but the photos taken of the Journey, I take are from your house. Love the landscaping.

I am interested in the 'ribbon' (in Canada we call it body side moulding). Were you able to purchase this from the dealer where you bought your vehicle? Or did you have to buy if from an automotive custom shop?

  11. Well today is day number 100 since I ordered the Journey. My roadtrip is in 7 days. Would hate for the Journey to arrive just before road trip as I wouldn't have time for "break in preriod". Looks like a trip Monday to talk to the salesperson and tell him to put some heat on the person who tracks the orders to give more concise answer to my question as to where is it? If its on a rail car, is it still sitting at the factory? He should be able to tell me more then it'll be here in May, like he did two weeks ago. Well we are almost half way through May.

I may cancel the road trip until early June, as it only a road trip to visit my sister. She's OK, with whatever fits.

As for the trailer hitch, I won't be needing it on the road trip, so I can investigate further as to what hitch looks/works better for me. I have already inquired at the dealeship and the person in the parts department said that they have to cut the bumper and then put some molding around the edge of the cutout. I would want to see ths application on another Journey before decding on a factory install. Caper, did the one you get require the bumper to be cut? If not what brand is your hitch?

  12. I believe the build code includes date of manufacture, VIN # , where the vehicle was built and the acronyms you talk about are on the build sheet. Usually the build sheet is not included, as its more for the dealers to confirm that they have recieved the vehilce that they have ordered and all the options are installed. I believe there was another thread where a poster indicated that you can ask the, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, by asking the service department to print a copy of your buld sheet.

Some people just like to have them, but IMHO they really don't mean anything value wise to your vehicle unless its a vintage colletor car. Many car collectors like to have the original build sheet.

A former neighbour had a 70 Cuda which he brought up from the United States. Included with the vehicle was the original build sheet, the original dealer invoice, and the original bill of sale. Having these three things provided not only a history of the vehicle, but to collectors, particularly the build sheet, verified the authenticity of the vehicle in regards to being true to the factory build. Since the build sheet indicates motor, transmission, colour and installed options and the original owner made no alterations to the vehicle in regards to aftermarket parts, body colour, motor and transmission, my neighour after doing some restoration work (he did that for a living before retiring), he got a pretty handsome price for the vehicle.

On a side note, what really made this vehicle special and vary rare was the column shift automatic. And of course this was on the build sheet.

I hope this help in some way in understanding why a build sheet can be a good thing to have.

  13. I know this gentleman that is heavily into modifying vehicles, so I asked him about this $69 chip. His reply was "The new Penastar engine already has enough power, don't waste your money."

It would be interesting if we did hear from any Dodge Journey owners that have bought one of these chips to inform us if the claims of better gas mileage are true,

  14. Thats what I figured with mine also, that they are manufactured when ordered. Can't blame them, with all the different vehicles that they would have to stock floormats for, it doesn't make sense to have a lot of mats in their inventory sitting there waiting for someone to order.

I hope you hear from Weathertech directly and can arrange something.

  15. Still waiting and getting frustrated. Talked to my salesperson and said I noticed on their website that they have some Journeys in transit. So I asked him to check with the person who does the ordering and tracking to see if mine may be coming in the same shipment. Have been waiting 12 weeks now.

I 'm not impressed with the person in charge of ordering tracking, all I get is its coming next month (May). Duh! Well I was aware of that, the vehicles that are in transit on the 28th of Aprilt aren't going to arrive until May. He never gives me what the status code is.

i've got a buyer for my 2001 Grand Caravan, and he would like to get it, but I can't let it go until the Journey arrives.

Glad to here the hotel is not a problem.

In regards to my order, It was the next day after placing the order and receiving the shipping information, I received a second email stating that my order would be delayed as item was on back order. That was over a week ago, and I checked my order status today and it still says 'tracking number is pending". i ordered from the Canadian website of Weathertech, this may have something to do with the mats being on back order. If you ordered from the American website, your experience could be different.

I hope everything falls into place for you.

My 2012 Journey hasn't arrived yet, but I have ordered the Weathertech mats. When you enter the year of your Journey, for 2012 it defaults to the 2 hooks.

    kramer

Since you are coming from Brazil, you might want to check with the hotel where you are staying and ensure that they will accept the shipment on your behalf. I would also suggest contacting Weathertech to let them know your intentions before placing the actual order. If they have no problem deliverying to the hotel and the holel agrees to accept shipment, then you will have to give Weathertech some lead time in getting the mats to the hotel.

At the moment my mats are on back order (mine are black), so something like this could pose a problem for you if your stay is coming to an end and the mats are not there. Just something to keep in mind.

  18. I didn't order the R/T Rallye, but when I factory ordered my R/T, the aalesmen said that basically I have bought the vehicle. BUT, if it doesn't come with the equipment I ordered, or the build quality is not up to par, or its been damaged, I have the right to refuse delivery of the vehicle. So, he recommended that when it comes in, I should go and look over the vehicle very carefully before signing the final documents.

When you ordered your vehicle, did it specify for sure that it was to have the logo'd seats? I think you have every right to say "this is not what I ordered" I to would be asking for some kind of rebate if they wanted me to take it.

  19. Yep, I've got one of these 2011 R/T's you're referring to. It was because the dealers didn't understand that "UConnect" no longer was the bluetooth option, but actually referred to the 8.4n system. "Bluetooth with Voice Command" was a seperate $300 add-on option that no dealers ordered because they thought the UConnect system meant it already had it. When I purchased my Journey, not one of the six dealers in my area had a Journey in stock equipped with Bluetooth. To top it off, that was around the same time as the Japan quake so there were paint and parts shortages so to order one in would have meant that I couldn't get black or probably the 8.4 system. It was a trade off. In the end, I don't actually miss it much. I've had the vehicle a year and I'd be lucky I've made more than a handful of phone calls while in my vehicle.

I probably won't use it that often either, but we have a law here in BC, that you cannot use your cell phone unless you have a bluetooth device. I just got tired of having to use the bluetooth device. It would turns itself off after so many minutes of non-use and that feature was not adjustable, so I kept having to turn it on just incase, this got tiring, so when the boss (the Mrs) said go with what options you want, I ran with it, before she changed her mind.happy%20feet.gif

  20. Thanks for the link. The Canadian website is not as good as the American webiste, especially in the area of maintenance contracts.

I know that wear items like brakes and tires as well as hoses and belts are not covered. I was thinking more like driveshafts, internal engine components, transmissions, you know the more expensive items.

Good point on the electronics, I see your point in wanting to have those componets covered.

I agree, further input from members who have the lifetime contracts (especially with older vehicles - not neccessarly Journeys) as to wether wear and tear for internal engine parts are covered. The reason I am curious is because I tend to hang to my vehicles for 10 or more years. Currently have an eleven year old Grand Caravan and a ten year old Subaru Legacy. From what I have read on this forum, there are many Journey owners who have the lifetime contracts and are happy with them, but I feel their vehicles are still covered under the basic 3 year warranty for workmanship, and the only think they are taking advantage of at the moment is the free car rentals.

When I ordered my Journey, they (the dealer) were trying to get me to take an extended warranty(they didn't mention anything about a lifetime warranty), but I said no at the time as I am still waiting for the factory order. When I said no, they indicated that the price quoted was more then what I would be actually paying, but didn't indicate what the price would be. I have to admit I didn't think about wear and tear items at the time, otherwise I would have asked.

So my suggestion would be to go to the dealer where you bought your vehicle and see if you can negoiate a better deal on the lifetime warranty. At that point, I would ask them to show you in the contract if the lifetime warranty covers wear and tear or just manufacturer defects.

    Regards

  21. Hi Redtomatoman

I can't answer your question, but do have one for you concerning the lfietime maximum warranty. is this warranty lifetime against factory defects only, or does it cover wear and tear also?

i'm always skeptical of long term warranties especially if it doesn't specify that it also covers wear and tear. We all know how insurance companies work with their fine print. I'm sure if something went when you have alot of mileage on the vehicle, if you don't have wear and tear coverage, I'm sure they would say its due to wear and tear and not a manufacturing defect.

Sorry, just my untrusting nature of extended warranties and their fine print. I would only purchase one if it CLEARLY spells out wear and tear is included. I would hope at that cost it would. I can't find anything on the Canadian Dodge website concerning extended warranties.
