  1. Okay, not great pics, but it's what I have right now. This is the routing of the cord under the hood. I used the velcro strap to tie it to what I'm pretty sure is the windshield washer fluid hose. This one shows where the cable goes from under the hood to the great outdoors, by the wiper arm. And here's how it looks with the hood closed, and the cap wrapped around to secure it. No shaking, wobbling, rocking, vibrating, etc while driving. And barely noticeable when looking at the vehicle!
  2. I'll see what I can get for a pic tonight after work. May not be great, since it will be dark already, but it could be enough to give you an idea.
  3. At what point did you notice that this 2011 (which at this point was on a dealer lot, not an order, since the 2012s have been on the lots here for a few months now) didn't have the 8.4? After you drove it home? This is something that most people would have noticed on the test drive - or at least when looking at it on the lot before signing the sales contract. I'm confused how you can feel short changed on something that should have been glaringly obvious on first sight, before you took possession.
  4. But if you put 36psi in at -25 - then it warms up to -5 by the afternoon, you've had 20 degrees of temperature shift. That's 36 degrees Fahrenheit for our American friends. At 1psi change for every 10*F, that's a 3.6PSI shift (let's call it 4) - now your tire pressure is a "cold" 40psi before you head home from work! So if you were 'proper' and deflated at -5 to 36psi, when the temps drop back to -25 overnight, you will now be at 32psi cold in the morning. I don't know about you, but I'm not all in favour of inflating and deflating all four tires every time I get in and out of the vehicle as the temps change through the day just to keep the ol' TPMS happy. It should just be quiet if all of the tires are the same pressure and only set off lights and alarms if one tire is horribly out of whack with the rest. Or at least be smart enough to notice that hey, all four tires are now the same pressure again ... must be okay. Showing warnings for no GOOD reason is a fast track to me opting to simply ignore the dang thing.
  5. I'm reserving judgement for a full body shot, but I like what I see so far!
  6. Scary - I had the same thing on Monday night - left front tire. Stupid thing keeps going off every startup, even though all the pressures are the same. I'm having the same temperature problem as you ... it was -25 Monday night, today it's -6. Tomorrow is supposed to be about -14. Really hard to keep consistent pressures when the outside temperature is the variable affecting the TPMS readings! Too bad they couldn't put a temperature sensor in those things too - so it would self-adjust for outdoor conditions! Hmmm ... maybe I can patent that idea for a new generation of TPMS sensors....
  7. No problem ... it had been bugging me for months. I spent about a half hour trying to figure out where I could route it. The windshield is easy to access, and the cord doesn't hang out enough to flop - or generally be noticed unless you're looking.
  8. I'm not a fan of the cord dangling by/over the headlight. My previous Sebring had a big rubbed in arc in the lens from the plug waving back and forth in the wind while traveling. Not enough cord there to run it out through the grill. Could pull it around the headlight and have it kind of stick out the side of the fender, but that looked ridiculous. Sooooooooooooo after much head scratching, I routed the cord up where the windshield wiper arm attaches. Tried the wiper after, and there is zero interference. Routed the cap behind the plastic bit that covers the cowl, and it JUST hooks up over the ground wire on the plug to hold it in place fairly snugly. So I'll be plugging in the extension cord at the windshield. That should also greatly reduce the odds of driving off while forgetting to unplug it! lol And it's not particularly noticeable. Doesn't really stick out to speak of. Hopefully this works. Supposed to drop to -23 tonight, so I will be plugging in. I know I don't "HAVE" to ... but it's much easier to start up in the morning that way.
  9. Yeah, there's definitely something fishy there. And a whole lot of corporate PR spin on top of it all. That's a BS response straight out of the marketing department.
  10. Definitely a software hiccup. I'd at the very least report it to your dealership so there's a record of the problem for warranty purposes.
  11. Couple weekends back we had a cold snap (-18 or so) and about 3 out of 4 startups it blasted me. Frequency lessened when it warmed back up into the -5/-10 range. I wonder if there is a relationship there, or if it was just a weird anomaly. Guess I'll find out next week when it's supposed to head towards -20 again. (Wouldn't a DJ look great in Hawaii? I'm thinking so ... stupid winter.)
  12. The LEDs come on the SE and up models. The base Canada Value Package (and I assume the American Value Package as well) use standard tail lights. My CVP has incandescents. The SE Plus I looked at had LEDs.
  13. Shouldn't be any problem at all. Just make sure you get the right rims. The base Journey has 16" wheels. 225/70R16 is the tire size. 36psi is the stock pressure.
  14. Wouldn't be the first time a company did a mid-year something. 1964.5 Mustang, anyone? :P Heck, once upon a time it wasn't unheard of for major mechanical changes mid-year. A badge switch is nothing. Still ... want one! :P
  15. I've noticed that I can't turn it off while it's active ... but as soon as I let off the throttle and the light goes out, I can turn it off no problems. Had to do this today to get up the hill leaving my house, as the street still hadn't been plowed, and the outside of the turn had built up significant soft, slushy snow. It was bogging itself down until I turned off the traction control. I'm finding it more of a hazard than a help. Wonder if there's a way to reverse the default to off and only turn it on when wanted?
  16. My '12 doesn't have the cool new badge in the grill ... I want one though! Looks sharp!
  17. Yeah, but most people would assume that to mean same size/brand/model ... not 'slightly more worn'. AWD is a tricky beast.
  18. I've been trying to find a nice cold front for the front grill/lower fascia. Last weekend we had a brush with -18, and I noticed a big difference in how long it took to get the engine up to temperature - especially on the highway. Almost half an hour. I imagine it will be a lot worse at -30. Anybody spot any yet?
  19. When I picked up my 2012, they mentioned the warranty maintenance guide's 13,000km changes and said that while it may 'technically' be alright by Chrysler, to simply go by the oil change notice on the EVIC for oil changes. That's the purpose of oil monitoring, after all. They also said you can stick to an 'old school' 5-6,000km schedule and that won't hurt anything either. I could see going 13k if you're running synthetic. Most synthetics are perfectly fine over that distance, really. In 03, my little Kia was okayed by the dealer to go 10,000km with synthetic and not affect the 160,000km powertrain warranty. I'm sure in 8 years they've improved it enough to get another 3,000 from it. Of course the 'schedule' takes into account much more than just oil changes. There is also lubrication, belts, filters, and other maintenance that has to be done.
  20. I didn't know they'd officially released an update yet. I knew something was in the works, but nothing official yet. I'll have to check in with the dealer.
  21. Got a new angle on this problem tonight. Up to this point, it has ONLY done the loud blast on initial startup of the audio system. A few minutes ago, coming home from the store, I started up, left my parking space, got about three rows down - and THEN it blasted me. Anybody else have this one happen to them? I'm prepared for it on startup now ... but this one scared the bejeezes out of me. Completely off guard!
  22. There was a thread a while back, asking about clearing presets on the 4.3 ... there is a way on the 8.4 systems, but best I can find, including the manual, once you set one of those presets, you can never UNset that 'button'. You can change it, but never clear it. Although if anyone has found a way to get it back to "Press to set" once it's been set, I'd love to know!
  23. ... and by carrying less weight in my wallet, it should contribute to higher fuel economy, since the gross weight of the vehicle will be less. Good point! LOL
  24. I was trying to find that thread yesterday and couldn't spot it. Sticker on my door says 36psi for the 16" tires. Here's a general question on tire pressure and nitrogen. Is it recommended to 'top up' nitrogen filled tires with regular compressed air? Or does that basically negate the advantages of the nitrogen filling? My DJ came with nitrogen in the tires right off the lot, but we've lost 30*C in average temperatures since then (+15 to -15) and the tire pressure has been dropping accordingly. I know it won't HURT anything to use regular old air, but does it kind of defeat the purpose of the nitrogen in the first place as you start mixing in regular old atmosphere?
  25. I would think they'd fit just like stock 225/70R16's ... like mine has. :P
