  1. It certainly was, just glad that it's over and hopefully I don't have to deal with these guys again!
  2. so I finally got this resolved. In the end the dealership and the warranty provider split the costs. Took a while but at least it's fixed now. Thanks for your advice on this.
  3. Thanks for the feedback and advice. Unfortunately I did take the car home as I did only notice the problem when I was picking it up and they initially had said that it wouldn't be a problem to bring it back and fix it at no charge. At that time I had no reason to believe that there was going to be a problem. The service manager is supposed to call me tomorrow. I'll start by insisting that they pay for the repairs. If that fails I will then ask that they deal with the warranty company directly in order to work it out between them who pays. If things get nastier than that then I will follow the steps that you have outlined. The reason that I had asked about the modules was to get an idea of what they might have done to actually break it. I know that either way, they're responsible. But I figured that I'd check to see if anyone knew the technical details in order to be informed a bit better when I'm talking with them. Thanks again for your help, I'll follow up with results later.
  4. Hi, Can anyone tell me what the relationship, if any, is between the bluetooth and navigations module on the 2011 Dodge Journey? The reason I ask is that I recently had to get my bluetooth module replaced due to failure, but in the process of getting it replaced at the dealership they somehow broke my navigations module. They are telling me that the failure of the navigations is completely unrelated and just happened to happen while the car was in their possession. I find this hard to believe as I had to make a few visits while they tried different things (such as flashing and reflashing the firmware) in order to get the bluetooth working. The reason why this is important to me is that I don't have an OEM warranty but do have a third party warranty (due to the fact that I bought my Journey used and imported it from the US to Canada). As a result, they want my warranty provider to pay (which I'm not they will do under the circumstances) for the navigations unit even though they seem to have broken it. Thanks
  5. So just an update on this. I brought it into the dealership and they did the updates, told me everything was fixed and said to come pick it up. I get there and find that the bluetooth still isn't working. The next day they tell me that the module itself has to be replaced so they order the part and fix it, then tell me to come pick it up again. This time I get there and the navigation is no longer working! I point this out to them and they tell me to bring it back another day as they just have to reflash the software (it was late in the day so they didn't have time). So I just get around to bringing it back today and now they tell me that the navigation unit has to be replaced! On top of this they want to charge me for this (or at least my third party warranty) even though it was working just fine when I brought it into them, which I'm sure the warranty people won't be happy about. They insist that they didn't touch the navigations unit so they couldn't have broken it. Anyway I have to talk the manager to argue about this but this definitely hasn't been a good experience so far!
  6. Yep that was me, I brought a 2011 Journey LUX from the US to Canada and had to get the DRLs enabled at the dealership. The option was already there in the settings, but enabling them through the settings didn't work. After getting them enabled at the dealership, I can now turn them off or on.
  7. I just posted about my battery issue in another thread but just noticed this thread, which seems to have more information. Symptoms seem to be the same, completely dead battery two nights in a row now and on top of that my bluetooth and voice controls have stopped working completely. I will take it to the dealership tomorrow or the day after and hopefully have them flash the BCM and Hands Free control updates mentioned in this thread. Problem is that I bought my 2011 Journey used from the U.S. (I live in Canada) so I have a third party warranty to go through first (and it carries a deductible). I'm hoping that if I bring this in for regular maintenance they can do the updates for free or for a small labour charge. I'm assuming that it's a relatively quick job?
  8. I just went to start it and it was completely dead again! I'm going to try to bring it into the dealership tomorrow evening. Hopefully the BCM or that other flash update solves this...
  9. I just had the battery on my 2011 LUX die on me. I hadn't driven it for about two weeks so I'm not sure how long it was dead for. It's working after the boost but my bluetooth and voice command buttons aren't working now. The bluetooth button is there on the screen and in the settings, but nothing happens when I press them. Sounds exactly like this problem: I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer to get the BCM and other updates. Crappy thing is that since I bought this from the U.S. I have a third party warranty that has a deductible for $100. So hopefully I can get this all fixed in one visit so I don't have to pay that deductible more than once.
  10. By the way, finally got my LUX badge in a few days ago and mounted it soon after. The first dealer never ended up getting back to me so I actually took your advice and contacted Bosak, who then shipped it to me. Thanks again for the advice!
  11. Funny, just went to a 2011 Journey LUX from a '00 Intrepid myself. Only had about 150k KM on the Intrepid though (about 90k miles). Never had a problem with it. I had a 3.2l though, I heard the 2.7l engines were terrible. Which engine did you have in yours?

Thanks, I should've pointed out the other thread. For the US owners I would just ask the tech guys next time you're in for an oil change. They may have to call Chrysler first to have the sales code added to your build configuration though, then wait 24 hours before updating with starscan. If you're friendly with them maybe you can get it done for free.
  13. Finally got mine working. Looks like what they had to do was call Chrysler Canada first and have the sales code added to my build configuration, then way 24 hours for it to take. After that they were able to reflash the car computer and that got it working. I took it over for the RIV inspection immediately after then went over to get the car registered so it's finally all done! Just have to get the plates mounted now though, I don't have any holes on the front bumper since front plates weren't required in North Carolina.

    DRL

Are you certain those are the DRLs and not the fog lights?
  15. So I went to a dealer and they changed the country code to Canada, but couldn't get the DRLs to come on. They said that I may have to wait a few hours or overnight before they come on, but I somehow doubt that. I then took it to another dealer who said that they first have to call Chrysler Canada and get some sort of code, wait 24 hours, then enable them. They couldn't do it now because the Chrysler office was closed for the day. Sounds like it might've been a better idea to just leave the country as US and just enable the DRL option there. Oh and my DRL option in uConnect (which had a check box but didn't work) is gone now that the country code has been set to Canada (which makes sense because you wouldn't be allowed to have an option to turn them off in Canada). You'd think that getting the lights on when the module is already there would be a simple thing but I guess not! Now I have to wait a couple of more days at least to get the vehicle registered.

    DRL

It's not grayed out. You can actually check and uncheck it, but it has no effect. It doesn't surprise me that it's not actually part of the option group even though it's listed, as they do change those throughout the year as you mentioned. Anyone out there with a Journey in the US who has actually got this option working?

    DRL

Just picked up my used '11 LUX and same thing here. The option is in uConnect but they don't work. Looks like they just left the option in the menu whether the option was actually enabled or not.
  18. I just picked up my Journey yesterday and it has the option in uConnect, but the DRLs don't work. Judging from some of the other posts I've seen, it looks like this option is in uConnect for many of the US models even if the Journey wasn't shipped with them enabled. Probably just an oversight by the manufacturer. The dealer will definitely charge for enabling them since it's actually a used model. Any new model that is destined for the Canadian market would already have had them installed in running (without an option to turn them off I would think). One dealer said it would be about $50 if the module is there, I'll find out in a week or so after I get the import form sent to me and then the mods done for the inspection.

    DRL

You can call the Dodge customer service number on the website and give them your VIN. They'll be able to tell you the exact options that it was shipped with.

Did you choose the $40 DRL fleet option when purchasing your Journey? Others have reported that they have not been able to get their DRLs to work either, so I'm wondering if they've left the option in uConnect for some models even though the actual DRL option was not included from the factory.
  21. I saw that thread but there wasn't a resolution. I suppose that it's possible that some of the US models still have the setting in uConnect even though they're not equipped with the actual DRL option (which is apparently a $40 fleet option). I suspect that if you purchased that option, they just program them to work from the factory. I haven't picked mine up yet but will definitely look for that option in uConnect and try it if it's there. If it doesn't work I'll bring it to the dealer and hopefully it's just a matter of changing the country code and is a cheap fix as a result. I'll post back when I get it resolved.
  22. Great, thanks for the info. I actually had come across that part number after finding our Journey part numbers thread. I've checked with the dealer and they have ordered the part for me now. There was confusion over whether or not my Journey ever had the LUX badge. At first both the dealer and Dodge US said that it did not, but then they looked at some other part of the original order and found that it was there (like it's supposed to be for all LUX models). It's possible that it fell off before it was even shipped to the original dealer I suppose. Either way I'll just have to pay for the part rather than having it covered by the warranty.
  23. Ya it's not that uncommon to find used 2011 models of many cars in the US. A lot of them are former rentals that were sold at auctions but some are just trade ins from buyers who decided they didn't like the car for whatever reason.
  24. That's what I figured, I emailed Dodge US about ordering one from there but haven't heard anything back. The car was a trade-in at a Ford dealer in the US. The badge was missing when they got it so they don't know what happened. I guess it just fell off.
  25. I forgot to mention a second issue in my previous post. The used 2011 Journey LUX that I've purchased is missing the LUX badge from the liftgate. Is this something that one can order online (I haven't been able to find anything at the Mopar site or anywhere else) and if not, would a Canadian dealer be able to do this even though the LUX model isn't sold in Canada? Thanks
