  1. It certainly was, just glad that it's over and hopefully I don't have to deal with these guys again!
  2. so I finally got this resolved. In the end the dealership and the warranty provider split the costs. Took a while but at least it's fixed now. Thanks for your advice on this.
  3. Thanks for the feedback and advice. Unfortunately I did take the car home as I did only notice the problem when I was picking it up and they initially had said that it wouldn't be a problem to bring it back and fix it at no charge. At that time I had no reason to believe that there was going to be a problem. The service manager is supposed to call me tomorrow. I'll start by insisting that they pay for the repairs. If that fails I will then ask that they deal with the warranty company directly in order to work it out between them who pays. If things get nastier than that then I will follow the steps that you have outlined. The reason that I had asked about the modules was to get an idea of what they might have done to actually break it. I know that either way, they're responsible. But I figured that I'd check to see if anyone knew the technical details in order to be informed a bit better when I'm talking with them. Thanks again for your help, I'll follow up with results later.
  4. Hi, Can anyone tell me what the relationship, if any, is between the bluetooth and navigations module on the 2011 Dodge Journey? The reason I ask is that I recently had to get my bluetooth module replaced due to failure, but in the process of getting it replaced at the dealership they somehow broke my navigations module. They are telling me that the failure of the navigations is completely unrelated and just happened to happen while the car was in their possession. I find this hard to believe as I had to make a few visits while they tried different things (such as flashing and reflashing the firmware) in order to get the bluetooth working. The reason why this is important to me is that I don't have an OEM warranty but do have a third party warranty (due to the fact that I bought my Journey used and imported it from the US to Canada). As a result, they want my warranty provider to pay (which I'm not they will do under the circumstances) for the navigations unit even though they seem to have broken it. Thanks
  5. So just an update on this. I brought it into the dealership and they did the updates, told me everything was fixed and said to come pick it up. I get there and find that the bluetooth still isn't working. The next day they tell me that the module itself has to be replaced so they order the part and fix it, then tell me to come pick it up again. This time I get there and the navigation is no longer working! I point this out to them and they tell me to bring it back another day as they just have to reflash the software (it was late in the day so they didn't have time). So I just get around to bringing it back today and now they tell me that the navigation unit has to be replaced! On top of this they want to charge me for this (or at least my third party warranty) even though it was working just fine when I brought it into them, which I'm sure the warranty people won't be happy about. They insist that they didn't touch the navigations unit so they couldn't have broken it. Anyway I have to talk the manager to argue about this but this definitely hasn't been a good experience so far!
  6. Yep that was me, I brought a 2011 Journey LUX from the US to Canada and had to get the DRLs enabled at the dealership. The option was already there in the settings, but enabling them through the settings didn't work. After getting them enabled at the dealership, I can now turn them off or on.
  7. I just posted about my battery issue in another thread but just noticed this thread, which seems to have more information. Symptoms seem to be the same, completely dead battery two nights in a row now and on top of that my bluetooth and voice controls have stopped working completely. I will take it to the dealership tomorrow or the day after and hopefully have them flash the BCM and Hands Free control updates mentioned in this thread. Problem is that I bought my 2011 Journey used from the U.S. (I live in Canada) so I have a third party warranty to go through first (and it carries a deductible). I'm hoping that if I bring this in for regular maintenance they can do the updates for free or for a small labour charge. I'm assuming that it's a relatively quick job?
  8. I just went to start it and it was completely dead again! I'm going to try to bring it into the dealership tomorrow evening. Hopefully the BCM or that other flash update solves this...
  9. I just had the battery on my 2011 LUX die on me. I hadn't driven it for about two weeks so I'm not sure how long it was dead for. It's working after the boost but my bluetooth and voice command buttons aren't working now. The bluetooth button is there on the screen and in the settings, but nothing happens when I press them. Sounds exactly like this problem: I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer to get the BCM and other updates. Crappy thing is that since I bought this from the U.S. I have a third party warranty that has a deductible for $100. So hopefully I can get this all fixed in one visit so I don't have to pay that deductible more than once.
  10. By the way, finally got my LUX badge in a few days ago and mounted it soon after. The first dealer never ended up getting back to me so I actually took your advice and contacted Bosak, who then shipped it to me. Thanks again for the advice!
  11. Funny, just went to a 2011 Journey LUX from a '00 Intrepid myself. Only had about 150k KM on the Intrepid though (about 90k miles). Never had a problem with it. I had a 3.2l though, I heard the 2.7l engines were terrible. Which engine did you have in yours?

    DRL

Thanks, I should've pointed out the other thread. For the US owners I would just ask the tech guys next time you're in for an oil change. They may have to call Chrysler first to have the sales code added to your build configuration though, then wait 24 hours before updating with starscan. If you're friendly with them maybe you can get it done for free.
  13. Finally got mine working. Looks like what they had to do was call Chrysler Canada first and have the sales code added to my build configuration, then way 24 hours for it to take. After that they were able to reflash the car computer and that got it working. I took it over for the RIV inspection immediately after then went over to get the car registered so it's finally all done! Just have to get the plates mounted now though, I don't have any holes on the front bumper since front plates weren't required in North Carolina.

    DRL

Are you certain those are the DRLs and not the fog lights?
  15. So I went to a dealer and they changed the country code to Canada, but couldn't get the DRLs to come on. They said that I may have to wait a few hours or overnight before they come on, but I somehow doubt that. I then took it to another dealer who said that they first have to call Chrysler Canada and get some sort of code, wait 24 hours, then enable them. They couldn't do it now because the Chrysler office was closed for the day. Sounds like it might've been a better idea to just leave the country as US and just enable the DRL option there. Oh and my DRL option in uConnect (which had a check box but didn't work) is gone now that the country code has been set to Canada (which makes sense because you wouldn't be allowed to have an option to turn them off in Canada). You'd think that getting the lights on when the module is already there would be a simple thing but I guess not! Now I have to wait a couple of more days at least to get the vehicle registered.
