  1. Congratulations on your purchase and welcome. The Magnuson-Moss Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act provides the information that a company just off hand void your warranty if you've altered the vehicle from stock. It basically states if a company requires you to use only factory parts then they muct be provided for free (basically). SEMA http://www.sema.org/ works hard to make sure the aftermarket and the consumer aren't forced by manufacture warrantys to drive a vehicle as it left the lot. If this were the case dealers that modify vehicles would be voiding their company's warranty. Upgrading your wheel/tire set will do wonders to both looks and performance. You have to pay close attention with the Journey since they have specific fitments for wheels. Just ask what particular area you're looking at changing and I'm sure someone here will help. It really just takes common sense as to what you want to do.
  2. I don't know if this has been mentioned but the rear defroster must tied into an exterior ambient tempature sensor because it comes on with remote start. I'm guessing since the mirrors are tied into the same circuit they come on as well. Dodge/Chrysler mini vans had a defroster grid under the front wipers would have been nice to have across the line (at least as an option).
  3. I would agree pulling the fuse to check but the radio is probably fed from more than one power source. Also I'm not sure how long reserve power holds for the radio when the negative battery cable is disconnected but it's at least an hour. When I installed the K&N CAI. I had the battery disconnected that long doing the installation. The satellite receiver may not be outputting an audio signal but I'm not sure if it's powered separatly. I had an issue with Sirius but totally different than yours. I received a notice my service woud end after my 90 dy free trial from Sirius. I called them and asked why since a one year was included with the car by Dodge. Sirius Customer Service said the dealer would have to call to rectifiy this. They did cut the service but I went to my dealer and they called and had it turned back on (it took them almost an hour talking to Sirius).
  4. First thing the dealer ,as you already know, is not being very helpful. I would contact the Dodge/Chrysler Regional office with the amount and length of the issues. Since your Journey has spent so much time are they providing a rental? A question on the radio does it turn off if you use the radio hard key (push button in the center of the rotary control). This does sound like a software issue and you should send a message to a member on here DodgeCares. They are a very helpful customer service. And I've had my radio/HVAC settings go to default after she had sat for several days due to sickness. It's only done it this one time but if it repeats I will go to the dealer. John_s the underhood fuse box is called power distribution center. The in cabin fuse box is located on the passenger side behind the glovebox. If you look under the dash on the far right side you'll see an access hole and the cover for the fuse box.
  5. This is true if the OP's Mainstreet has the Alpine system. The non Alpine setup in the Mainstreet has the same layout (component locations) minus the sub in the cargo area. Also I don't know what the rating is on the amp for the non Alpine system. I would look at the speakers first for upgrade to more efficient ones. this in itself can make a world of difference in a factory system. Also since the HVAC controls are routed through the HU really limits what can be done for now. Thankfully the same systems are fitted to the Charger/300 so the aftermarket may deem it worthy to look at - though it won't be inexpensive. If you don't have the Alpine system or the 8.4" screen you can upgrade to these with better speakers. But make sure you have a dealer that can and is willing to scan the car to integrate the equipment.
  6. The Pentastar doesn't have cylinder deactivation as far as I know or have read. Even Allpar's own source http://www.pentastars.com/ for info on the V6 makes no mention of it except it might be a feature in the future. They may have the review material mixed with that of the Durango's.
  7. The steel wheels don't have as thick a hub flange as the alloy wheels is why the rotor center bore protrudes so noticeably. Before you swap back ,or rotate tires, measure the flange thickness of your steel and alloy wheels.
  8. It may be that in your ,or similar, situation when the receiver isn't getting a response from any sensors it's programmed to not set a check system light but may store a trouble code. Though I do find it interesting it doesn't flash check monitors/system. Maybe it's similar to a TV not receiving a channel it blue screens.
  9. Unless you use the remote start a lot and then let her idle and/or all city driving I would say there is definitly something wrong. My '11 (FWD 3.6) has been averaging 22.4mpg with a 60/40 mix city/highway driving. It's dipped to just above 18mpg in all city driving and I've seen 28mpg hghway (at 60mph with A/C on). The DIC is fairly close to what I record on paper and what my Garmin records. I did install/adapted a K&N CAI and have Nitto 850+CUV that are supposed to have less rolling resistance than their predessors. Also I'm not light footed when it comes to driving. The other difference for mine would be where I live isn't much above sea level with faily level roads. . The odd thing is the oil reminder came on at 3.5K miles and that was the day after I received a complimentary oil change certificate from the dealer. It was funny but I went in to have it done and asked the service manager and she said that my Journey is not the only one that has been set early (they've had the same on '11 3.6 Durango,Charger and 300 but not the Challenger). She went on to tell me they have contacted Dodge's maintenance division/engineers but at that point had not received a satisfactory answer.
  10. As mentioned above I went with 18" wheel/tires on my '11 and I 've had no problems. The Nitto 850+ CUV does great in both wet and dry but it hasn't been out long enough for reviews on how it does in snow. Like you I have 235's with no problems. I went with 60 series instead of 55 to retain ride quality. On the wheel - brake caliper clearance I think you would have found it close on the Journey with any wheel. My tire dealer was somewhat surprised how close it is with the factory wheels. The AR95T I have now offers a bit more but still very close in the front.
  11. The cover is similar to the clear covers you can apply to the front facia. As stated many vehicles use this now on the fender behind the front tire,in front of the rear tire (like the Journey) and even behind the rear tires. The front splash guards help a great deal but don't aleviate the problem completly. My '11 has a small lip guard in front of the rear wheel well just under the rocker. I haven't noticed if the '09-'10 have this as I don't see Journeys very often.
  12. When you suggest upgrade the throttle body are you speaking of the 3.5? I would imagine cleaning up the body of the one on the 3.6 would help. The biggest thing is the hat connected to the throttle body that reverses the intake section to connect to the intake tract. If funds had been available to redesign the underhood to allow the intake run to the passenger side would be more direct. But even the Durango's ,and I believe the Charger, but they are more direct than the Journey.
  13. My '11 Mainstreet came with the Touring suspension. I upgraded my tire/wheel package to 18" with Nitto 850+ CUV. As for the monotone paint I would like to paint my grill assembly to match the blackberry pearl. As for the daytime running lights they are part of Popular Equipment GRP 28E for '11. And for the US you can chose to have them on or off.
  14. I have a couple questions concerning the premium door panels and performance suspension. Now it may have changed for 2012 but after I bought my '11 Mainstreet I saw a '11 LUX and the door panels don't look any different (and the LUX was supposed to have premium door panels). Was there a change made for 2012? On the suspension is there any information what the difference is between the Touring and Performance suspenion packages? Is there a lower ride height for the R/T or just different spring/strut rates? I understand there would be a difference between FWD and AWD suspension setups. AWD was optional last year in the US on all trim levels but the base Express. I would have liked to have AWD but there were none to be found within 200 miles (same for the R/T) at the time I purchased my Mainstreet.
  15. The filter resembles the Spectre brand reusable ones. If it fits well then it's a step forward but they use thin wall aluminum for tubing so you have to deal with heat soak. Though with the intake tract somewhat behind the exhaust manifolds it may not be as bad. I just wish Dodge had not used previous mounting points for the intake tract and moved it to the passenger side (I know it saved on development/engineering/manufacture costs). Am I the only one that's modified the Avenger 3.5 K&N CAI for use in the 3.6 Journey? The only issue I would see is in areas with visual inspections if they would or would not pass you with it in place.
