  1. Yeah, that is a bit much. Let us know how you make out!
  2. Since all the accents on my Journey are black (and far to expensive to go down the chrome road) i'm going with these black powder coat ones. added benefit of when they start to rust in a few years I can just spray paint them. Should look good with the Mango Tango.
  3. I couldn't find anything either. I ended up with semi-custom covers for the front (really just generic ones that fit the style of seat) and for the back I just ended up going with a flat cover since I always have two car seats in the back and the dog just sits in the middle of them it serves the purpose. I never have them folded flat or even one side down. I did find Katzkin after but they are $2000 for the 2 row Journey... a bit out of wack for me.
  4. I have a BB Torch 9800 and I do not have this issue. Our IT Security policy sets the max time out to 30 min and I have my timeout to 2 min for the password. I can make and receive calls just fine with the BB locked. I suspect your problem is related to the "Allow phone calls while locked" option. Your BB administrator (if you use a corporate BES) may have it locked down so that you cannot make phone calls while the phone is locked. We have our setup to allow phone calls while it is locked (I'm the Network Manager after all ). Under your security setting see if you can enable the option to "Allow phone calls while locked" DISCLAIMER: If you lose your phone and have this options enabled, someone will still be able to rack up the bill LOL Fred
  5. I like that, a lot. I wanted to do an offset stripe down the hood and the length of the Journey, but the wife wouldn't buy into that... being a 'family' car and all I think my 10 month old twins would appreciate it That being said, I finally got my vinyl in a few days ago to do the stripe down the bottom of the door like the picture above. I have the measurements all done and just need to do a few test cuts since its my first time working with car vinyl. Since the weather has been so terrible here (fog and rain all summer) I really haven't had a chance to so much as wax it since I got it 3 weeks ago
  6. Looks like its coming... This website talks about it for the Charger, but it should work on any Chrysler/Dodge 4.3 uConnect.
  7. Our laws here are worse than that, on the front you are not allowed any tint whatsoever but the back windows can be completely painted. In the city where I live, lots of people have their windows tinted. Some do lighter up front than in the back but just as many do 20% all around and never get pulled over. I had 20% on my G6 for 4 years and never had a problem with it. However, if you venture outside the city to the smaller towns (where the cops have a lot more time on their hands) you'll get pulled over and told to remove it.
  8. So, didnt really get the answer I was expecting... the shop manager came out and checked the bumper over and didnt see any missing clips or anything missing at all. He did admit that the bumper was dropped amd he all but came out and said that all the journeys are like it and its a design issue. Until chrysler comes out with a proper fix, he wont do anything because forcing the bumper into a position it wasnt meant to be in could cause it to break over time. Then it would be $$ out of his pocket to fix it. I didn't press the issue because on mine you really can't notice it unless you go looking for it (as I did). We discussed it and agreed that it would be on file that I came in about the issue and if something happens down the road and the bumper breaks they'll cover it. My main worry was is I cam in 6 months later with a cracked bumper they would just say i backed into something. Anyway, unless it gets worst I wont be bothering with it.
  9. It seems all you can buy for the 2011 journey is semi-custom covers, you cant get anything that is a real good fit so I just bought the cheap all black covers at Canadian Tire. They actually fit pretty well but we're boring. Using vinyl tshirt material I added the new Dodge logo. Not too shabby... I'll get a pick of them installed when it stops raining.
  10. Yeah, mine is the same way. got a call for their customer service today and I mentioned it, they want me to bring it in first thing tomorrow morning to have a quick look before they book a full appotiment and have me drop it off. Will be interesting to see what they say.
  11. Oh, BTW... I ended up buying the pre-cut front pieces on eBay and I'll apply them myself. They were $25.00 including shipping to Canada where the local shop wanted $80 + tax. Their price for the wind vent shades and hood deflector were much more reasonable, $75 + tax each including installation so I have an appt for Friday to have them installed.
  12. I found a website where you can order the pre-cut pieces (can't find it right now) and they recommended 20% to match the factory deep tint. My Xterra was the same, 20% matched the factory tint. Like Derek said, 20% might not be exact but it will be the closest aftermarket stuff available. personally, having different tint on the front and back just looks terrible so I like to match it as close as possible.
  13. You could go to your local decal shop and see what it would look like, or order a sample on ebay like this one.
  14. That's my issue, no where here seems to carry a 16" and shipping from the US is crazy (especially being out on an island here) . Was talking to a guy in automotive at Costco today and he said they will have 17" rims in the fall for $40-$50 each so I'll be going that way.
  15. You can get the vinyl in mirror silver finish that would look like chrome but the site i use says its life is only 2 years outdoors. You can also get a carbon fiber looking vinyl... not sure if that would show up... might be subtle enough. If i had black i'd do orange stripes like attached.
  16. Here is what I was thinking. This is a quick and dirty mock up done in Paint .net. Once I get home to my computer with Adobe, I have the vector image of the Dodge logo so it will look much better. This is how it would look on simulated mango tango (which is what I have).
  17. I have an odd request.... can someone measure the space on the door where these stripes will go? The wife is gone with the Journey till Monday and I have an idea to add onto Destinations design... I want to put the new Dodge logo inside the black strip towards the back but there doesn't seem to be much space to work with so need to be close on with the measurements. I'll share the design once its done... thanks!
  18. Called my dealer today looking for 17" steel wheels but they don't carry them. Gave me a number for a tire shop, and they were able to get me some info. He said Macpek makes wheels to fit the 2011 Journey (and they had them in stock). When I questioned him on the fitment and clearance he said that these are listed specifically to fit the 09-11 Journey and there weren't any notes or warnings or anything. His price was almost $90 each. Bit of searching and I found this: http://catalogue.macpek.com/auto-result-en.aspx?mi=7&m=JOURNEY&a=2011&d=17 The specs are: 17X71/2 5-5 So the Macpek part number for those wheels is X41753. Google that and found that CanadianTire carries them, their SKU is 09-5969-8. They list them for... $89.99 each... fawk! Next I'm gonna head to Costco and see what they have, now that I know what I'm looking for. Interesting that this same wheels fits the 04-06 Pacifica, 06-07 Grand Cherokee. Does anyone know if these are the right fit?
  19. My first reaction would be to change the battery. Even through the car is brand new, that battery could have sat on a shelf in Hong Kong for a few years
  20. Yeah, 20% seems to be standard for factory deep tint. From the outside it should look the same but you might notice a difference from the inside looking out. Your front windows are probably darker? I'll be going with glossy. For the vinyl, you can get glossy permanent, satin permanent, or matte easy-removal. The permanent is for outdoors/cars, up to 6 years life for the basic stuff. The easy removal is generally for wall that you will want to remove it from. If you are a first timer you could try that but when applying the permanent vinyl you could use a solution of 6 drops dish liquid to 1 cup of water and spray that on the car first. It gives a few minutes to work with the vinyl and get it just right. Also, to keep it straight, tape a piece of string from the front to the back pulled tight for a guide. You can use a level to make sure the string is even (assuming your car is level) or you can just eye ball the string. To remove vinyl you can use a heat gun, just don't leave it on too long but your paint should be able to take quite a bit of heat.
  21. I like it!! I've been thinking the same, need something to make it stand out a little so its not so much like a minivan. I like you're idea here except I think I will do just a single thin line on top of the thick line. How would it look if the stripe continued on the front and read bumper a bit? I have the advantage of having a cutter plotter and the stuff to do it myself, I think I'll order some black vinyl today and give it a try. Is that 20% tine on the front windows? Is it a good match to the deep factory tint?
  22. Does anyone have a picture of this? Just got my Journey this week and want to know what to look out for. Thanks! Fred
  23. HI, Just wondering what hitch you ordered? I'm in Canada as well... pick up my Journey today and need to order a hitch. There are a bunch on eBay that say they will fit a 2011, but when you click into the details it only goes up to 2010. Thanks! Fred
