  1. We had an 09 SXT AWD as well and ours started leaking at the transfer case. We had bought it used as well. I ended up trading it in for a new 12 SXT FWD. Dodge needs to rethink their AWD systems.
  2. I traded in our 2009 SXT AWD for a 2012 SXT FWD. I am just glad to be rid of that 2009 lemon. The PTU(transfer case) just started leaking with no warranty so I cleaned it up and we traded it in. I have a supplier discount with 2500 in rebates and some money down to eat up the neg equity and I will be money ahead in the long run. I had replaced the radiator and had a transmission leak fixed and was looking at putting tires on it this fall. So now it's someone else's problem. Plus we like the look of the 2012 so much better, inside and out. And with the extended warranty I have bumper-to-bumper coverage til 75000 miles. We even got the same color, white. While I am not excited about the 17" wheels, I am excited about the fact I can buy replacement tires for almost half of what the 19's cost and there is plenty of selection in brands. I thought the AWD was gonna be a good thing but it isn't worth the added grief here in Iowa. With good clearance and traction control I don't think we will have any problems with the FWD in Iowa winters. Oh and if you ever come across a dealer that offers Auto4Life lifetime powertrain coverage, buy a real extended warranty. They should have covered the PTU failure but won't because it is leaking from a seal. And it doesn't cover seals or gaskets, even though the dealer told them that Chrysler says the PTU is non-servicable, meaning you have to replace the whole thing cause you can't just fix the seals.
  3. I just had our radiator replaced at a dealer last friday due to a core failure from a rock or something hitting the slightly exposed portion under the condenser. Total was 560.00 with a coupon I got from dodge for 50 off service over 500. The radiator is 267 retail but about 180-190 from online dealers. I dropped it off at 730 without an appointment and had it back by noon, but I also told them we were leaving for chicago and had to have it back ASAP. I was expecting 1000 for it done at a dealer but was pleasantly surprised with the $600 bill.
  4. Just thought I would post about my experience replacing the front passenger side door latch in my 2009 SXT. The door stopped locking or unlocking using the power locks a couple months ago. The last time I was at the dealer one of the techs told me it was the latch mechanism in the door. I was already out of warranty so I opted to fix it myself. Unfortunately they were on backorder so it was another 3 weeks before I got it (backordered was a clue to me that they have had to replace more of them than they expected). Well with exceptionally warm temps yesterday I decided it was time to replace it. I was very surprised at how relatively easy it was. 2 screws and the usual automotive panel clips hold the interior panel on. Once that is off there is a hole on the inside panel with a hinged cover on it close to the latch where you can get your hand in and get the part in and out. There are 2 rods and a cable that attaches to it, the rods are from the outer door handle and the inside lock rod, the cable is from the inside door latch. There are 3 torx bolts that hold it in to the frame of the door. And with a little patience I now have working door locks on that door again, took about an hour total. I had thought about having the dealer do it for me but that was going to be at least 100.00in labor. I'm glad I opted to do it myself, it was easier than I thought.
  5. What is the name of this teflon spray? And where do you get it?
  6. I have an 09 sxt awd that I got last Feb.. It had rears replaced when I got it and I had the fronts replaced a couple months ago under the chrysler ext brake warranty. I also have more dust on rears than front, so perhaps there was a material change sometime this year. Perhaps this may be an air flow issue associated with certain wheels. I have the 19's and maybe it doesn't affect the 17's or those with aftermarket. Those that do have the rear dust problem, what wheels do you have?
  7. I believe that the base SE of the 2012's have the non-fog light pieces that would fit your opening. I was having trouble finding one with fogs with the larger plastic piece like yours but have found it is on the 2011 crew model. The 2012 fogs have a smaller piece with no honeycomb, but the 2011 crew came with fogs with honeycomb instead of the horizontal lines. So now I need to get a vin number of one so I can go to the dealer to get the right part number.
  8. This is great to hear as I will be doing this very soon. I didn't even think of the lower grille and fog sections. Do the fogs not fit or did you not get them? The one thing I noticed and like about the 2011 grille is the whole thing is open and allows the most air flow, as opposed to the earlier version where the lower part is open and the upper section has closed slats. I don't think the change to the 3.6 from the 3.5 would require this change, it is probably just a cosmetic change.
  9. This part is not likely stocked at any dealership. And the one I go to that gave me the part number said there would be a restocking fee cause it is not a stocked item. So that is why I don't want to buy one until I know it is a direct replacement. I guess that means someone has to be the guinea pig and try it.
  10. I also want to do this but not until I know for sure it is a direct replacement. I even got the part number from the dealer shortly after I bought ours. It's 150 from the dealer or about 103 from an online dodge parts dealer. But if its not a direct replacement and wont work then I cant return it without a restocking fee, so I want to be 100% sure before I buy one.
  11. Has anyone had to pay for the WIN module to be replaced out of warranty? I think mine may be getting flaky and we are out of warranty and am curious to know what I am looking at cost wise. Is this something that I could replace or is there more to it than just part swapping?
  12. My front brakes recently went to hell and the dealership quoted me $230 yesterday for new pads and turn the rotors. I knew of the extended warranty but never recieved a notice but I am the second owner of this SXT. So I called Chrysler Cus. Service and asked about the ext warranty and they said mine is covered with $100 deduct.(27000 miles). I called back my service advisor and informed him and he sounded unaware of it until I gave him the warranty code X30 that the cus. service rep gave me. I took it back in today and got it taken care of, 100 is better than 230. But a vehicle with 27000 miles should not be on its third set of pads unless chyrsler did poor engineering to save money and/or weight.
  13. I got a price from my dealer of 151.00 for the 2011 grille and like 105.00 from an online dealer. It looks like a direct swap but I havent had a chance to look at it a little closer.
  14. Just bought a used 2009 SXT AWD in stone white with 22000 miles on it. Looked at some of the complaints on here and am a little concerned but my wife likes it and hopefully it is the exception and is free of the common issues. On another note after looking at pics of the 2011's, it looks like the new grille chrome center piece is the same shape as the old one just with a new design to it which I like a lot more. So I am going to see if I can find a part number for it and see if it is an exact replacement. I know it wouldnt be a cheap part but if I can get a part number, I can check some of the online dealers to see how much they would want for it. Thanks in advance and I will be lurking on here qiute a bit learning about this vehicle.
