  1. It has the EcoBoost engine doesn't it? It sounds like it I work for Ford and all EcoBoost engines would be tested with 93 only because it has a turbo
  2. Regular gas here at our stations say up to 10% ethanol, mid grade up to 5% and no ethanol in premium. Maybe I should try a few tanks with premium...
  3. I still think it's a gas guzzler. No way that my pickup truck gets better gas mileage than this thing. It's not normal but Chrysler insists it is.
  4. Those numbers are still BS. No way in hell it gets 14.5 in all city driving. Mine is consistently at 22L!!!! My highway numbers are better at around 9L
  5. So they did nothing. They found everything was normal. They did an all city test and the mileage was 14.6L/100Kms. When I got in to pick it up it was up to 16.4L/100kms on the EVIC and got to 17.2L/100kms when i got home about 7 kms away. I don't know what to so. I bought this car looking and having confidence in the fuel economy numbers on the window sticker(13.2L/100kms) I even ADDED 5L to that number figuring i would average around 18-19L/100KMS. Anyone want to buy a 11 RT with 31000kms and a gold 7/115K kms warranty?
  6. So the journey is at the dealer, dealer is saying that the sticky winters and remote starter is what's contributing to the excessive fuel economy. I told him that shouldn't cause it to burn double the fuel that is mentioned on the window sticker unless Dodge played with the numbers. He also said that my battery voltage is low. It should be around 12.2V and it down to 10.95. He says it's causing the alternator to work harder and for it to work harder the computer is leaving the injectors open a bit longer to run the alternator harder. I wasn't sure if he was pulling my leg so I asked one of the techs at my job (Ford dealer, no comment) about the possibility that the battery can cause a fuel economy drop and he said it's possible because when the battery voltage is low on startup the computer could reset itself and when it does that it tends to run the engine rich. Your thoughts...
  7. She is very good with her vehIcles. Her first set of brakes went around 14000 miles, considering it sat for most of a year. Chrysler called back and said we want to follow up on this since the first time we were waiting for some info from the dealer and they never provided us with any info we requested. WTF? The guy was super nice said he would do some research and call me next week. I also mentionned i go to a different dealer and asked if i wanted to go to the one im going now and i said of course. Hopefully they find a solution.
  8. Terry, you've been reading my story since I bought it in 2011. My wife and I love the car. She doesn't care about the fuel but I do. I drive an F150 for work and I get better gas mileage than this! I keep telling the dealer. I'm at a new dealer now I will ask what could be done. I'm also waiting for a call back from Chrysler Canada
  9. I never changed the plugs. I was asking if maybe the plugs were at fault...
  10. It's not bumper-to-bumper all the time the whole way, especially on her way back there's not much traffic. Still it's deceiving when you have the sticker saying it's 13.1L/100Kms city. I knew when I bought it it wouldn't do it I figured around 17-18L/100kms would be a safe bet but not 25L+/100KMS that's ridiculous and should be considered false advertising or something
  11. I'm wondering if I should plug the block heater every night maybe it will make a difference? I don't know what do to with the damn thing it's really pissing me off. I like the room, the options everything about the car except the fuel consumption. I had taken it to the dealer in the beginning for them to do a fuel ecomony test. The drove it on the highway for 50 kms (32 miles) one way at 88 KM/H (55MPH) and back the same distance and mile and they concluded there is nothing wrong with it. I told them that the problem wasn't the highway it was the city driving you idiots! I send a tweet to Chrysler USA and they are forwarding the case to their canadian office. We'll see what happens.... Should I pull a spark plug and check it?
  12. My wife drives it full city. She drives about 10 miles to get to work and 10 to get back. Stop and go city driving. In the summer, the lowest I have seen is 21.9L/100 KMS or 10.8MPG. Yes, it's insane. I sold her 5.9L Grand Cherokee and it got 7-8 MPG but at least it was paid off and insurance was dirt cheap. Had i known I would have kept it!
  13. On the highway when I took it about 700 kms to PA (lots of mountains too) which comes out to about 450 miles, I managed to drop it down to 8.8L/100kms doing 120KM/H, which comes out to about 26.8 MPG. I freaked! It was the first time I saw the DTE over 450 kms lol. When I filled it it showed 802 KM DTE!!! That's what I don't understand, it's like a Dr Jekyl and Ms Hyde
  14. In US numbers, I'm at 7.95 miles per gallon and the car has almost 19000 miles. So I would say that it's passed the break-in. I even swapped out the 5W30 oil for some Mobil 1 0W30 oil just to try and help it out but it did nothing. I'm wondering if a K&N would make a difference. Hell, last night i put in premium fuel because I keep seing that regular could have 10% ethanol in there and premiun doesn't. We'll see...
  15. I dunno how you guys are doing that well but my Journey RT is a gas guzzler. I use the remote starter since temps are at -30 C. I even have proof, my last few tanks I've done are at 29.7L/100kms with 100% city stop and go traffic so I don't know who's the genius that calculated 13.1L/100Km for city driving. It's more than double! My uncle's Jeep with a 3.6 is getting 13L/100kms in mixed driving, although he does have the 8 speed trans. Here's the pic of my EVIC. BTW, the low tire light just came on so that's not the cause. This problem has been since day 1 and I'm at 30000kms...
  16. I know it's not normal but the all the dealer did was a fuel economy test ON THE HIGHWAY and didn't see a difference. All they did was reset the learning parameters and that's it. Well no shit Sherlock it's gonna do well on the highway at a speed of 80KM/h. I have no problem dropping to under 10L on the highway but the city economy is killing me. I really do like this car. It has 20700kms I WILL get robbed if I trade it in. I've even gone to switching the oil to Mobil1 0W30 full synthetic. AT one point I was changing oil and always being a quart short. I topped it up this time still no change. I don't know what the hell to do anymore. Maybe those eco tires might. I give up...
  17. My wife uses the remote start ofter when it's cold out. Rigfht now my economy stands at 26.5L/100kms. It's a great car but the fuel economy is HORRIBLE. Even in the summer I never see anything under 21L/100kms. Any of you that are getting in the teens are extremely lucky. (BTW, mine's a 2011 RT AWD)
  18. Just checked it, it's up to 26.4L/100kms. It's been cold here lately and I think the remote starter has been killing it. This thing really burns gas at idle.
  19. Nope, all city and no mountains. I have taken it to the dealer and they did a test Dodge told them to do which involves driving the car on the highway (!). I told them what the hell is wrong with you people my highway economy is fine it's the city that's killing me. BTW, my wife drives it all the time and she doesn't have a heavy foot. I know it's not normal, you guys here know it's not normal even the dealer probably knows it's not normal but they did jack shit to fix it. But since the beginning I have been putting the wrong qty of oil in. Could that affect my fuel economy? Meaning the engine is a quart short of oil, could the economy be affected?
  20. OK thanks. So The Dodge Android app on my phone is full of crap... Anyway, would a quart and a half of missing oil affect fuel economy. I'm up to 24L/100kms in this thing with the cold weather. I should have kept the Grand cherokee 5.9L we had. It did 30L/100kms but at least it was paid and full insurance cost 350$ a year!
  21. According to the Owmer's manual app on Android, capacity is 5.2L
  22. I ordered brakes for mine. It has 18k kms. They still have problems with the brakes? I thoughtChrysler fixed them in the 2011's. I hope my aftermarket brakes last longer than the stockers. My mom's Saab 9-7x has 60k kms and just now the mechaninc told her she will need brakes soon. She still has 20% left!
  23. I have never gotten my 11 R/T 3.6L under 20L/100kms. Only a few times i reset it while on the highway. Right now it's at 22.5L/100kms full city driving. I just realised thought that the last few oil changes I have been putting 4.5 qts of oil instead of 5.5. Could that cause the fuel economy to drop?
  24. I've been noticing a lot of you guys that have been getting great mileage on your journeys but mot are FWD and very few are AWD. Mine with the very hot weather we have been having and 100% city driving I'm at 23L/100kms
  25. I've used Ultramar, Esso, and Petro-Canada and I never saw a difference. I doubt Shell would jump your economy that much. Maybe I should try it on my next fillup
