  1. Remote start was a Mopar unit, car was ordered with what I wanted on it, everything was factory. It stalls out and loses power, can not brake, use steering, put it in park, HVAC cuts off. Have been lucky it only has happened backing out of my driveway. Hard to take video, it doesn't happen on a regular basis and when you are trying to keep from hitting parked cars on the road that makes it difficult as well :-) Thanks for the help!
  2. I did a search, but couldn't find anything similiar. I have 2009 SXT, 96k miles, with remote start, dealer maintained. In December, I had the remote start on, came out to car, put the key in, had full power. Backed out of the driveway and the car lost power - could not brake or steer. I was able to force the wheel enough to get it over to the side of the road. Took the key out, put it back in and it started up, full power. I changed the battery in the key fob, thinking it was the key fob transmitter, no issues until this AM. Exact same thing happened. I do not get a check engine light or anything, it just turns off and all power stops. Unfortunately the dealerships are like if it isn't doing it they can't fix it, especially if I am not throwing a code. Has anyone had this happen, what was the fix? Is it possible there is some misfire between the remote start, and the car not recognizing I put a key in and the engine immobilizer is kicking in? Thanks for the help!
  3. I am pretty sure my sunroof drains are clogged, have leaks on both A-pillars but can not find where they empty. Does anyone know? I would like to check them before taking the car to dealer. My last car had a "nipple" in the door hinge area, but I don't see anything like that and all 4 door drains seem OK as well. We are expeciting alot of rain today and tomorrow, so any help will be apprreciated. Thanks!
  4. I took my Journey in for the 30k mile service, I was going to a Dodge dealer, but that was shut down, so am taking it to the local Chrysler/Jeep dealer. They did the oil change and tire rotation and came back and said the front brakes needed to be replaced (not suprised based on what I have read here) but that I also needed the following done as part of the 30k service: Fuel Induction Service Throttle Body Service Power Steering Fluid Flush Brake System Flush I declined these items, as it was alot of money to have everything done and seemed to me, that it wasn't necessary and certainly is not part of the schedule for the Journey. Anyways was wondering what everyone elses thoughts or experience was with the 30K service? Thanks!
  5. Chrysler set up a website to answer questions about the bankruptcy filing: http://www.chryslerrestructuring.com/
  6. This is exactly what I am looking for, it looks great! Anyone know of a US source? Or could my dealer get ahold of one? Thanks!
  7. Went to the dealer, they are ordering a new unit, should have it in a couple days. While there found out there is a Rapid Response out for the Brake Fluid indicator sensor. I have to get in line for that one, there is a backlog on the part.
  8. Before I call the dealer, anyone have this problem? I had 5 CD's loaded, long road trip, got through them and was going to change them out. CD 1 came out, but the rest did not, long story short, I am getting a Mech Com Error so can not eject the rest of them. The radio itself is working, just not the CD part. I tried again this morning, but still no luck. Thanks! Alyssia
  9. I have what probably is a dumb question  How do you REMOVE the cross bars on the roof rack? I tried the other day, unscrewed them as far as they could go, but the bottom lips were still getting caught on the roof rails and would not come off. I tried pushing in from one side, thinking I could pop one side up, but that didn't work either. Since I adjusted the position of them I don't have wind noise, but since I am not using them, I would like to take them off to reduce "drag". Any little bit helps right? Thanks, Alyssia
  10. I took mine in at 5000, before a long trip and the service advisor freaked and said it should have been at 3000 and every 3000 after. I told him that the service coupon book that they gave me and the owner manual both say 6000, he told me I had the wrong service schedule for the car and was going to get everything updated for me. After the oil change was over, the asst manager told me the service advisor was wrong and to go by the on board computer. So I have several different opinions on when to do it. My change oil light went on at 5700 - mostly highway driving, but I was out of state at the time, so would not have been able to get it done. Alyssia
  11. I finally got it to work and like most of the things you can do with the remote, it's all in the timing. I found I could not wait at all to hit unlock the 2nd time and hold. However I did get it to work outside of the car, no doors open, but windows only went 1/2 way down and then when I tried sitting inside, windows went down all the way. Did you happen to see instructions on how to get the windows to roll up with the remote? I tried the obvious with the lock button and it didn't work. Guess I need to ask for a revised manual or see if they have update inserts. This is great feature for really hot days and you want the heat to escape, without having to get in the car! Thanks for the info MoparJoe. Alyssia
  12. Thanks, sounds like you have a newer book then what I have and what is on the Dodge site (version 2). I will have to try your instructions and see if I can get it to work. If not I will ask the dealer if it can be programmed. Alyssia
  13. It maybe an RT thing as I checked my paper manual and the online PDF and all I see for page 25 is Programming Additional Transmitters. I looked through the EVIC section as well and could not find anything on it. MoparJoe can you maybe give a brief overview of what it says or give what heading it is under? If this is something I can program or have the dealer program I would LOVE to have this option! For those who have had VW's you get spoiled being able to roll the windows up and down using the key, so this would be a good alternative. Thanks! Alyssia
  14. I haven't received the letter in the mail, but I just checked Dodge online and the recall is now listed for my VIN number. I attached the PDF that was linked. Alyssia H21.pdf
  15. I called to schedule an oil change for Monday and asked her to check on the recall, it's not showing up yet for my car, but there is a rapid response for a software update on mine and she said they heard of another coming down regarding some of the radios. Will keep you updated... Alyssia
  16. Not quite I'm in NOVA and another user "Darrell_in_Va" is in NOVA. Besides mine, I have seen another Bright Silver in Manassas on 28, a Silver Steel in the Springfield mixing bowl and the latest, a Black one on 404 in MD.
  17. In this post I attached the 2 PDFs from http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov regarding the recalls. Vehicles manufactured from 2/4/08-3/14/08 are part of the recall. I took delivery 3/31/08, I checked the recall portion on Dodge.com and it said there were none, so not sure if I am affected, but it's a pretty close time frame as I ordered mid Feb. 18. Hi, Check the position of your front roof rack. If it's more towards the front, you are going to have wind noise. I moved my front one back towards the 4th position, based on the owners manual recommendation, and the noise stop. Hope this helps, Alyssia
  19. Yeah but even when I have cruised at lower speeds, including 65mph and lower, it has never gone over 21.9 mpg. I understand the concept of higher speeds, lower gas mileage, but I am just not seeing the mpg that others are getting, regardless of what speed I am driving. Alyssia
  20. Hmmm, I would like to know what I am doing wrong. I have never gotten more then high 21mpg on the highway with cruise set around 75mph and most of the time it averages 20mpg. I saw another post that stated high MPG as well. Any ideas? With gas prices the way they are I am using the 87 octane, would using 89 make a difference in MPG? Alyssia
  21. Ha ha - thank goodness I wasn't the only one. That lovely foul smell I was told, is the chemicals burning off the engine and the catlytic converter, that its a chemical coating they use in production. It lasted a good 4 days on my car, the salesperson said it was normal, and nothing to worry about, when I called to find out what was up. Sorry to hear about your other issue, hope it's resolved quickly! Alyssia
  22. Hi, I looked at it this morning and I don't see a way to pop it out. I am sure if you took a slim enough screwdriver, you could do it, but not sure where the clips are that hold it in. However once out it probably is an open hole with the stereo and AC control units exposed. I do think they could have done a better job with filling the space.
  23. How do you like the "performance" suspension with the 19"s. I really like how it drives and handles on highways and curvy roads, don't have hardly any sway, but if I hit a dip in the road, straight on, especially at high speeds I have alot of bouncing after. Have you experienced that? Alyssia
  24. Yes, it's the five seater. Without the 3rd row you have a ton of room under the floor. I ordered mine, but when I first looked at them they were all 5 seaters on the lot, so I knew what I was getting. Most of the reviews have the loaded 3rd row RT, so it's nice to see pictures of some of the more basic options, without all the bells and whistles. Alyssia
  25. Better late then never! I never posted pictures, still need to take the pix with the dog crates in the back.
