  1. Thank you, that is what I was thinking happened. On a side note if I order a hitch do I order for a 2010 since or 2011? I assume the frame didn't change at all but want the hitch to be hidden as much as possible.

I installed a Curt hithch on my 2009 Journey and when I traded it for a 2013 Crew I just dropped it off the old Journey and reinstalled on the new one with no issues. Should not be a problem ordering a hitch to fit yours.

  2. I have trailer tow package. When i got my journey there's alrEady wiring harness with pin connector. So does it mean all i need is buy Curt hitch #13335 and 2 inch ball joint.. install it and good to go. Trailer hitch is one of my project this coming summer!

Sounds like that is all you should need besides determining how much drop (or rise) to the hitch head you will need to accommodate your trailer.

  3. Does not sound right to me. Any vehicle should not gradually go to the floor when holding the brake pedal. Sounds to me you may have a leaking master cylinder. Take it back and demand it be repaired. All else aside, it is a safety concern. What would happen in the case of an emergency stop? Will it hold pressure long enough to stop you or will it leak down more rapidly leaving you with no brakes.

  4. For the cost, I would just take it to a tire shop. Probably you picked up a nail or something but could also be a bead or valve leak. Here in Lethbridge I have taken tires into Fountain Tire and they have repaired it for free and I did not even buy tires from them. You have a Fountain Tire @ 2922 MILLAR AVENUE, SASKATOON, SK. Don't know how convenient that is for you.

  5. I did not even attempt to drive on the stock tires in the snow when we got our first '09 Journey. I looked at the tires and they looked more like a summer tires to me. Did not look like an all season tire at all. Replaced the 19" Kumos with 17" rims and Hangkook winter tires and have had very good results with them. Only once in about 3 years did I have a problem and that was with deep drifting snow. Was heavy going but did manage to get through. Even my wife likes the winter handling as she has made several trips over the winters to Calgary 2 hours north of here.

  6. Seems to be hard to find a 2011+ with the 3rd row. Does anyone know why?

That is interesting. Seems like it is more difficult around my area to find one without 3rd row seating. When we were looking for our new 2013 Crew we looked all over for one without 3rd row and only ones we could find did not have the options we wanted.

Good luck on your search. They are out there. :victory:

  7. razor420; I am sorry you have had so many problems with your Journey. Every manufacturer has their Lemons. Having said that, we are on our second Journey. Wife liked the 2009 SXT that when it came time to trade it in she decided to get a 2013 Crew. We have been fortunate and have only had a couple of minor issues (2009, blew power steering return hose Christmas Eve). Most trouble we have had is keeping the body in good shape. 2009 was damaged ($4,000) from a wind storm and our 2013 was hit on the rear bumper when a pick-up with 30 foot trailer could not stop on ice. Have not had any brake issues with either one. So far we have been happy with our Journeys.

  8. We only have the FWD and am very happy with how it handles in winter conditions. Very different story with the stock Kumos however. But with the Hankook winter tires have not had many issues. Only when it gets really deep do I have issues but then any vehicle would in that situation. I have spent most of my life driving winter roads up here in the Great White North and the best tool for winter driving sits on top of your shoulders. Use your head and drive according to conditions and should not have too many problems. Also, know when you should not even try to drive when it gets really bad.

PS: Got the DJ out of the body shop last week and all is good again.

  9. The size of the ball will be determined by the size of the coupler on the trailer. Small trailer typically 1-7/8". Offset would also be determined by the height of the tongue of the trailer. Not much help I guess but need to know what trailer you intend to tow.

  10. Yep, not a bad job for a DIY'er. Got my hitch from Hitch Depot USA. Good cost and very fast delivery even to my Canadian address. Nice thing is, they ship Canadian orders from Canada so no issues with Customs Border broker charges shipping from the US.

  11. Wife liked our 2009 SXT DJ that when it was time to trade we got another DJ. 2013 Crew almost a year ago now. 16,500 KM on it so far and very pleased with it. Just had first problem with it. Battery was discharged and at -25 C remote would not start. Dealer checked and did not find any issue besides battery low. Other than that all is good. Good to hear you are enjoying your DJ. :shades:

  12. Thanks guys, got the car fax for what its worth, no accidents, or anything major, just service records, oil changes and such. Good point on the alignment, I'll see if I can throw that in, and get a extended warranty! It will be used a lot, probably put on 18-20k miles a year. Plan on changing fluids, and a k&N drop in, and cabin filters if I get it right away.

Will be hauling my weekly trash to the dump, and small live stock now and then, best hitch kit out there for the DJ?

Anyways wish us luck hopefully this is the one.

I installed a Curt hitch from Hitch Depot USA. Good price and very fast delivery and just bolted right in. Toughest part was dropping exhaust system to install hitch. Trailer wiring adapter was just plug in and away you go. With LED tail lights will need to run a power lead from the battery. Good DIY project for an afternoon.

  13. My '13 R/T had a dead battery one morning... Charged it up and took it to the dealer to check it out. Everything checked out just fine. Got to talking to the service manager (good friend) and we were discussing why it had gone dead. Turns out these new cars will stay "alive" if the keyfob is kept within range (I used to keep mine right by the door ~12' from the car) and as long as the car is "alive" it consumes power at an increased level while waiting for the doors to unlock or lock, remote starter to engage, etc. and can consume enough power to kill the battery. Not in a couple of days, but, within a 10 day to 2 week span. Started keeping my keys at the other end of the house and have not had a repeat episode of a dead battery. It is entirely possible that with the cold weather and if you keep the keys near the car, the same drain may have affected your vehicle in a couple of days...

When the cars are shipped, they are shipped in a "transport mode" to prevent that from happening and the vehicles on most lots stay in that "transport mode" until sold so that the batteries don't go dead while on the lot. They showed me how to put it in transport mode for when we are traveling (we have an RV and travel for months at a time) so that we don't come back to a dead car, which, according to them, will happen in that 10 to 14 day window when left on its own, even when in sleep mode. Other than the transport mode, the other option is to keep it on a trickle charger. I have a bunch of the Battery Minder Plus maintainers for my other equipment and opted to use one of them hardwired to the remote battery posts in the engine bay.

If you keep your keys near your car, even if you drive them every couple of days, when the weather turns this cold it might be a good idea to move the keys away further so that the electronics don't stay live for as long. Since I moved my keys further away, I've had zero problems with the battery maintaining a charge, even in this cold weather.

webslave; that is interesting what you are saying about the key fob. The spare fob is stored about 30 to 40 feet away from the vehicle so not sure if this is too close but I can not see that being the issue. The wife's fob could be anywhere in the house where ever her purse is but no less than 30 feet away. Besides, the vehicle is used almost daily with no long periods of no use so the discharge from being in standby mode should not (in my mind) be an issue. I will continue to monitor the battery and see what happens. Thanks for your feedback. I will keep this in mind. :mademyday:

  14. Took the DJ into the dealer Wednesday. They checked the battery and found it badly discharged and could not test condition of battery till they charged it. Once they charged the battery they tested it and checked out OK. Checked charging system, OK. Checked for power draw and was within normal. Was told could not find problem. They could not explain why the battery was so badly discharged yet everything checked out OK. Would not replace battery as the print-out showed no fault. I could see maybe the battery being low if it had sat for a couple of weeks but this vehicle is used almost daily and with some highway miles so should not be discharged. It is documented now and if there is further issues we will adress it again. See what happens next time the temperature drops below -25.
