  1. Well, "She Who Must be Obeyed" finally convinced me to trade in the 2009 DJ SXT for a new 2013 DJ Crew. We are getting it in Storm Grey. Looks good but just have to wait for delivery. Having it transferred from another dealer and should arrive by middle of next week. Then I get to play with installing some accessories and polishing it up. Guess that should keep me out of the bars. LOL

  2. I am just in the process of trading my '09 SXT in on a new '13 Crew and after reading the info on the Oil Change Indicator System link from DodgeCACares I was shocked to see the oil change interval has increased to 16,000 Km or 6 months for the 2013 model year. Not sure I can go even half that long. Just goes against what I have done for the last 40+ years of driving. My dealer is still recommending 5,000 Km or 3 months.

  3. WOW......I did not realize there were issues with installing hitch and wiring. I ordered a Curt hitch and had the wire harness in the vehicle when I bought it. Installed them myself. Only issue I had was the first time I installed the wire harness I had it backwards (no directions supplied). Left trailer light would flash with right signal and right with left signal. But once I reversed the harness all was good. Did not need to flash the ECU. And I did not need to drop the bumper. I guess sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Is this only an issue with 2011 thru 2013?

  4. Wingit,

Glad to see you are happy with your DJ!

Just make sure you let your dealer know about the intermittent vibration so they can look in to it for you.

Wife mentioned that the slight vibration is still there. I was going to have the front rotors skimmed (if enough material left) and see if that resolves it. Don't think it is wheel balance as I have just changed over to winter tires and no change in vibration. If that does not resolve it I guess it is into my dealer.

  5. I am like Olaf L. I must be fortunate and have a good Journey (knock on wood). I bought a 09 used a couple of years ago with about 50,000 km (30,000 miles). Dealer had just done the front brakes when it was traded in. Rear brakes were not touched at that time. I now have 100,000 km (60,000 miles) and just did the rear brakes today. They were totaly wore out and one pad a rivet was just touching the rotor. Checked front brakes and they look almost new. Lots of pad left and rotors are in good shape. May need to turn front rotors as I have a slight vibration in the steering wheel when braking (sometimes).

  6. HI does anyone know if a regular sized tire can fit into the spare tire. Also if i want to change to a 17" what size tire will i need. Thanks

I assume that you are now currently running 19" rims. That is what I have on my Journey and I wanted to get some good winter tires. I went with American Racing 17" rims and 225/65-R17 snow tires. Very slight speedometer error. Not enough to worry about.

  7. Hi guys,

SPeaking of synthetic oil, I got my oil changed and they put in 5w30 castrol systhetic in, while the oil cap sayw 10w30. I asked the dealer and he told me castrol synthetic 5w30 is the same as convetional 10w30. Not sure what is true and hoping to get input. also the dealer says they did not carry 10w 30 .

    thanks

    zac

Zac........I would not worry about using 5w30 in our climate. I always change to 5w30 for the winter anyway. With our temperatures as low as -30 to -40 in winter the 5w30 gives you better cold starting and once it is warmed up then you have the protection and lubrication of the 30w.
