Apologize for my late updates. The local car fixing/mod factory said they can do the mod, that is replace the 62TE with a VW MQ300 or MQ350, and do some firmware programming work to get the engine and the gearbox married. Another plan is to change the engine too, replace it with a VW EA211 1.8T. But I don't think it's power enough for the car. Price was the main factor preventing me from proceeding with the mod. It cost 30000CNY≈ 4500USD, minimum. Another factor they remind me is, it's illegal. Sorry for the bad news...

This Dodge Journey is my first AT car, MT has become part of my life. The 62TE shifting logic is quite weird and annoying, I don't know if I can get used to it. Anyway, I'll keep this thread updated if I get a clear answer from the machinist。

A mechanism here in Zhengzhou China told me he can replace the auto transmission with a manual gearbox, add a clutch pedal and all the other clear works. I don't know if he can really do this, but tomorrow I will see him.

Thank you for your fast reply! Yes, I was driving in auto selection. When I pull down the auto stick from D to the - + zone while in Drive position, is it supposed to be in manual mode? If it is true, I tried today. No matter how I switch the stick to right + or left -, still D, no gear number showed. Maybe something is malfunctioning with the 62TE, I can felt the auto transmission doesn't like to up gear but very like to down gear, the result is high engine rpm, like 3500rpm, even I only press the accelerator pedal very gently. Tomorrow I will go to 郑州北环汽配大世界, hope I can find some machinist to diagnose it. I forgot to mention I'm in China. Hi, I just purchased a preowned Journey 2013, with 55600km mileage. I found the centre dashboard doesn't show gear number when in D. I want to know which gear it is when driving, from 0km/h to 110km/h only D. Does anyone know what's the reason? Thank you!
