  1. An excellent question! No I did not contacted the dealer yet. I don't know how to answer it properly. Lets say I would prefer to buy a quality battery and not overpay for the installation service. If the dealer charges $400 (battery and work) I would like to see if I could get a better battery somewhere else that could be charging for the work a little less... What you think? I know almost nothing about qualities or costs. I'm trying to ask and educate myself a little about quality & prices before making a decision. I agree with you about the original battery, I never had a problem before so I can't blame it. Going to a dealer is not something I like a lot since normally they abused my lack of knowledge / trust in the past requesting to perform unnecessary things... I can't criticize Dodge's tough because never visited one before. Never had a problem till now. I saw batteries between $100 and $150 in places like supermarkets and auto services like Firestone (interstate brand, $139 plus work, 525 CCA). No data about how much would they charge for installation. Still trying to see which battery would work best. Thank you very much for your help!
  2. Thank you very much for your reply. I think that anyone is going to ask for a lot of money to do that... And sadly I have no memberships to any of those stores. I was thinking about Consumer Auto Parts or places like that... Still trying to figure which brands are best. Thank you again for your help! Cheers, Chopper
  3. Hello folks! I hope you're having a wonderful day. I been reading all morning about my "Journey not starting problem"and as one of the steps changing the battery is next. So I wanted to ask for your help and experience to decide which brand to get. Also I saw where the battery is located so I'll also need someone to make that job. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about Walmart since they offer installation and then saw lots of complaints about the batteries quality and craftmanship of their crew so need to find a different place. Besides the dealer, do you think of any brand/place to get it. I'm in the Portland, Vancouver area but don't mind to travel if it is needed. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions! Cheers, Chopper Just FYI: I have a 2015 Dodge Journey SXT AWD 3.6, around 87k. Sunday afternoon I was unable to start the car. Bought a jump-starter (Stanley 1200 @ Walmart) and using it, the car started. Same scenario on Monday and today. Never had any other electrical problems. Ordered Batteries for FOBs. (arriving later this week) Planning to change car battery since not sure how old it is.
  4. Hi! I feel your frustration. I can't stand a car not working that stress me awfully bad! Same problem here, 2015 SXT Journey. After a few cold days last Sunday it acted exactly as you described. We bought a jumpstarter at Walmart (Stanley 1200 amp with usb, light, coffee maker, and what not!) and after a new tries it started. Used the car perfectly for the rest of the evening turning it off and on several times. Monday morning same thing, today, same thing. Wanted to buy a battery at my local walmart but they didn't had the appropriate size. Now reading that Walmart (or cheap brand batteries in general) are not a good idea. What happened to yours? have you changed it? If so, which brand did you bought? Hope everything is better now. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Chopper
  5. I wanted to thank you all for the warm welcome, I'm reading a lot and learning so much from the forum! Thank you again for the support. Cheers, Chopper
  6. Thank you for the recommendations! I did a list of to-do things based on the miles and this is what I'm planning to do: Inspect the CV joints. Check the tie rod ends, front suspension, and replace if needed. Inspect the parking brake and brake linings function. Replace the air conditioning filter. Replace the spark plugs. Replace the engine air filter. Replace the rear drive assembly fluid. Replace Power transfer unit fluid. What is to service the trans? I mean, what they do? Just flush the trans fluid or they actually disassemble and visually check for faults? It is a 3.6 by the way. Thank you very very much for your kind comments! Regards, Chopper
  7. Well, I'm Chopper, little bit desperate for knowledge about how to properly take care of my 2015 SXT Journey, around 80k and now I'm located in the Portland/Vancouver area. I know nothing but the very basic about cars and I mean basic stuff like how they move. Not familiar with the care or maintenance schedule, what is true and what's a lie. As in every business there're people with good ethics and some that are only looking to make money. I like honesty even if the price is not cheap, I think that's what everybody likes, right? Well I'm downloading the manual, and hoping to find help in this threads to give my car some love! Cheers! Chopper
