The R/T come with the chrome racks. They didn't give us the rails when we picked it up and I had to get them after. They suggested not putting the cross rails on unless you were going to use them due to noise. And if you use them to move them back a bit to quiet them. It may reduce mileage too. We haven't used them yet ourselves. The Stewie

Sirius signal Loss
TheStewie replied to TheStewie's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
We have a natural escarpment a couple hundred feet high here and the transmitter is on a building below the escarpment I suppose to cover the city in the event a satellite can't transmit through it. I think it might be a combination of all of the rain and the transmitter since the bridge we have the most trouble on is about a half mile away and probably within a hundred feet vertically of the transmitter as we drive across it. Many times the drop out is so quick you just here the slight pause and its back, but the several second ones are really annoying. The Stewie -
Sirius signal Loss

I just checked that map of transmitter locations. Number 247 is right here and perhaps that is the reason for our failures but I will check the wiring and for cracks. The Stewie -
Sirius signal Loss
TheStewie replied to TheStewie's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Lots of info there, thanks. We have had tons on rain off and on over the last few weeks in southern Ontario so that might explain why even on one ofthe bright sunny days it acts up. I find on one of the large local bridges it does as well but I attribute that to all of the metal in the structure. I'm going to print out your notes and take a good look at it. The vehicle is going into the shop tomorrow so I might ask them to take a look at the antennae too. Thanks, The Stewie -
Our change came about the same time as most others vis the oil change message. The warranty manual does say 10k (6k miles i suppose) OR when the message comes on so the dealer is wrong to say always 6k miles. I asked the same of our dealer and he said bring it in within 800 km of the warning to meet the warranty requirements regardless of mileage. The parts person who was a service mechanic at one time did note that he wondered why in past years that oil changes had to be done more frequently on the 3.5 engine when it is the same engine in the Journey and they extended the intervals out much longer. weigh scale weights and tire pressure for me
TheStewie replied to Hit-By-Thunder's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
I just checked the pressures the other day and they were set to 35psi from the factory. We have the same tires. The door sticker says 34psi and that is interesting that your calculations match for the front but not the back. It looks like you balanced the car by adjusting for the different axle weights. So if you load up the vehicle with 7 people or put a whole bunch of stuff in the back you would leave the rear at 30 psi? How are these tires in the winter? You get some nasty weather out there and we do at times here in southern Ontario too. If we need to swap them I'd rather be looking now then in the fall and find they are hard to get. TheStewie -
Sirius signal Loss
TheStewie posted a topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
We had our radio system changed a while back due to some programming errors and we notice that even on a clear day that we get frequent dropouts of the signal. I at first thought of a loose connection when we hit bumps but it does not happen always at that time. Loss for 5 or 10 seconds is not unusual at times. I hesitate to call Sirius due to other posts that say you might get a few months free before your activation papers come in. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Any suggestions? TheStewie -
Thanks, i will bring that info along to the dealers when we call them. They cringe when we bring it in now for all of these "little" issues but it is a new car and they have to learn sometime how to fix em up!! TheStewie

Do you have the number of that rapid response re the brake switch/sensor? Our light just came on yesterday and everything works fine but we need to take it in too. TheStewie

We had the first warning at just over 4000kms for the oil change, fairly close. We took the extended package that covers oil changes so it may pay for itself after all!!

I set off the panic alarm once and have stepped out of the house to find the lights on and car open. Most likely due to the buttons getting pushed while in my pocket. Too easy to do!! TheStewie

How was the coolant level? We had the tow prep package added on after they forgot it and a few days later the engine was overheating to to coolant levels. It was topped up and yesterday I had to add a liter and a half to bring the level up to the proper level when cold. I don't know if it wasn't topped up properly or the stuff is "vanishing". There are no visible leaks and the car runs fine and very quiet. I'll tell you in a week or so if it is fine but I'm curious as to what thy say about your engine. The Stewie

My wife spotted a Journey on an Enterprise rental dealers lot the other day so they probably grabbed a few for dealers across Canada.

Interesting pics you have there of the radio/ temp controls. The MYGIG forum link to the MYGIG site shows pics of all of the types possible I believe, in the cars if you need to look. They also have updates for each type and manuals too I think. Our RT has everything except the Nav and rear dvd and it is different again. Our screen is at the bottom with the single cd/dvd behind it and without all the buttons for each disc i presume. Whoever was having issues with the audio settings i hope you figures it out if you have the touch screen. Just press audio and the equalizer and balance buttons are there. The balance allows you to touch or drag a square to adjust sound within the car. When our radio was replaced it came set up to the front right only. I can understand you complaining about the sound!! After a month of owning our black RT, we finally saw another Journey in town. Of course we saw it a block from our house and it was another black RT!! Two elderly ladies driving it so I'm assuming it was a family car that they were using. Still no others yet. The Stewie

DVD Stuck

I misread the first post so I pulled this response -
I picked up a small touch up paint for the car today due to the several small chips ( extremely thin paint it appears) in the front edge of the hood and the parts person was very firm in telling me not to leave it in the car at all. I guess they have the same problem with the small paint kits as the cans in the Chill Zone. The Stewie

Well with so many people waiting for orders or on the verge of buying one I thought that we should let folks know if we see one sitting on a lot that might be what they want. Hopefully we can mate new Journeys with those who want them. This will promote the car and dealer interest in keeping us happy. Let me say first that I am not a dealer nor work for any dealer. I'm a new owner just like you!! So let me start with a nice green metallic SXT Journey at a Hamilton, Ontario lot.. It has performance steering and suspension, 7 seating etc but no sunroof or nav or rear dvd. It has the basic 6 cd radio REN style without uconnect or Sat or a hardrive. If you are looking for that colour and it fits your needs tell your dealer to go look for it. It was on the lot today at 5pm EST. The Stewie

Stoney Creek, Ontario (now part of Hamilton though still on the maps). We have a Black Pearl RT with everything except NAV/rear dvd in it. The Stewie

Funny you should ask about a sound like that. We just got ours back after they installed the tow prep kit that was supposed to be on it. We had a 2008 Grand Caravan se and it too has a noise accelerating and sometimes as you brake. I told the service people they might wat to look and they said a bulletin had come out re loose straps or something on the exhaust which resulted in noises like that. Perhaps your Journey is suffering the same fate. And yes I am glad we have the quiet Journey back after driving the van. The Stewie

order fiasco
TheStewie replied to Booker T's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
We originally priced a loaded SXT Silver ( with the blue flakes) but after looking at payments we decided on an RT. The only one they had was black and the salesman drove it. We tested it and took it. If we didn't we would be waiting as long or longer than you have I suspect. The Stewie. PS the Grand Caravan we have at the moment is the light Sandstone and it is a very nice looking paint. -
order fiasco
TheStewie replied to Booker T's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Rob, When you finally are driving it you will know it was worth the wait. Ours is in the shop for some add ons and we were given a brand new Grand Caravan SE to drive. Drives well but the engine and wind noise is horrible compared to the Journey. The Journey with all its teething issues is a fine car. One person actually asked my wife if it had a V8 under the hood because he thought it was a souped up street rod or something. It is an RT with 19 inch chrome clad wheels with black peral paint but nothing else!! hang in there, The Stewie -
With enough Holidays, anything is possible. Ours is in the shop getting a bug shield..paint on the front is paper thin, the tow package that was supposed to be installed and a look for that noise on left turns everyone comments on. I noticed that they only had one Journey on the lot right now. A Green one probably an SXT.. so anyone wants a green one and is waiting it might be sitting in Hamilton. Ontario... no sunroof but other than that I'd have to look at it for you tomorrow.. The Stewie.
